Glasgow Wikimedia Meetup Number 7

[edit]

Date and time: Saturday 30 April 2016, 3pm-6pm

[edit]

Point of contact: Ewan McAndrew (Email: ewan.mcandrew@ed.ac.uk)

[edit]

"Hundreds of carved figures and pieces of old scrap perform an incredible choreography to haunting music and synchronised light, telling the funny and tragic stories of the human spirit as it struggles against the relentless circles of life and death."
Let me know asap if you would like to attend this as places on the 3pm tour need to be booked in advance.
Update: I have booked 4 places for the Sharmanka 3pm show. Please arrive at 2.45pm and they have requested we pay the entrance fee in cash. Cost: £5

Location of Wiki meetup @ 4.15pm: Mono cafebar, 12 Kings Court, Glasgow

[edit]

Mono blurb: "Mono opened in 2002, furnishing Glasgow with a unique and versatile space in which to eat, drink and discover new music. Over our first decade, we developed a reputation for good beer, good vegan food, good gigs and good times. We are proud of our achievements but we aim to make our second decade even better. Our fresh, home cooked menu is free of all animal produce and is therefore suitable for vegetarians, vegans and any discerning palate. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please advise your server and they will you help you in any way they can. We have a large range of beers, wines and soft drinks, including many organic options. Craft beer heroes Williams Brothers help us to brew our own ginger beer and various lemonades using our in-house microbrewery. Our coffee is an ethical blend designed and roasted for us in Glasgow by Dear Green."
Update: I have booked a table at Mono for 6-8 people for 4.15-6.30pm

Attendees

[edit]

Add your name to this list if you can make it to our seventh meeting (Lucky number 7!). You don't have to be an existing editor to attend - we'd love to see you if you'd just like to find out more!

Please also invite any other Scottish Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) – spread the word!

  • Ewan McAndrew, Wikimedian in Residence, University of Edinburgh.
  • Elflin, Glasgow Wikimedia Volunteer and Trainer (would love to go to Sharmanka, sign me up!))

About the meetup

[edit]

This is intended to include any interested Wikimedians who find themselves in Glasgow or can make their way to Glasgow on the day. Anyone who has attended previous meetups in Glasgow or Edinburgh encouraged to return to meet new faces! This is a social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts. Where we...

  • Chat about Wikipedia, Wikimedia and any other topics we fancy. How to grow the community in Scotland, anyone? What kind of events would we like to see in the future?
  • Eat snacks/meals and drink some tea/coffee/beers.

It's mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians, however this is also an open invitation to anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Feel free to come along!

Spotting us

[edit]

I'll see if I can leave some Wiki merchandise on the tabletop. Either that or wear a red carnation or a panama hat. Whatever works for people trying to find us.
