Add topicMore stuff on ang
[edit]Hey, could you please add this code to the bottom of ang's Common.css page:
table.hēafodtramettopborder { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/5/5d/H%C4%93afodtrametofermearc.png') repeat left top; } table.hēafodtramettopleftcorner { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/2/2b/H%C4%93afodtramettopleftcorner.png') no-repeat left top; }
Also, could you remove the line:
table.hēafodtrametbred2 { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/8/86/H%C4%93afodtramet2.png') repeat left top; }
I will probably have more of almost the same to do again very soon. Just making absolutely sure this bit goes fine. Þoncie þē. Gott wisst (talk) 05:18, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- Done diff. PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:23, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- Good news: The experiment worked. As such, could you go ahead and please now also add these lines:
table.hēafodtrametleftborder { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/f/fa/H%C4%93afodtrametborderleft.png') repeat left top; } table.hēafodtrametbottomborder { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/9/91/H%C4%93afodtrametborderbottom.png') repeat left top; } table.hēafodtrametrightborder { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/9/98/H%C4%93afodtrametborderright.png') repeat left top; } table.hēafodtramettoprightcorner { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/0/01/H%C4%93afodtrametcornertopright.png') no-repeat left top; } table.hēafodtrametbottomrightcorner { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/6/6d/H%C4%93afodtrametcornerbottomright.png') no-repeat left top; } table.hēafodtrametbottomleftcorner { background:url('http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ang/1/12/H%C4%93afodtrametcornerbottomleft.png') no-repeat left top; }
Also, could you change the background vellum section to "repeat" rather than "no-repeat"? Thanks much. Gott wisst (talk) 22:04, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Novità dall'Emiliana Gloria Sah
Ciao, Caro Amministratore, :-), tutto ok?
- Ciao, Gloria! Il testo è tradotto su translatewiki. Tu lo hai scritto. :) Ho coretto l'errore. Inoltre, puoi tradurre eml-1, eml-2, etc. su translatewiki.net. Ciao. PiRSquared17 (talk) 12:51, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Mi puoi aiutare a capire? Grazie, --Gloria sah (talk) 22:35, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry for writing in English, I don't have time to translate. It might be a virus: Wikipedia doesn't have ads. Are you sure you're viewing wikimedia.org or wikipedia.org? Hello, wouldn't this be a good time to make this page translatable? People will shortly have a desperate need for updated information on the topic. On the other hand, plenty of information there will soon be superseded; if you're willing to migrate it to Translate, I can help identifying the parts that would be a waste of time translating. --Nemo 20:23, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, the FAQ is mostly outdated more than useless, and both History and See also sections don't belong to a help page: both could be moved to a main namespace page Unified login or Unified login history to avoid breaking redirects. --Nemo 21:54, 2 May 2013 (UTC) P.s.: I just replied her! But there's little I can do I'm afraid.
- So, do you first want me to split those parts out and update the rest where necessary? Do you agree with what above? --Nemo 06:44, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for the welcome message. But you can leave me message in English, preferably. Generally speaking, most of technical terms that are translated into Thai are quite confusing. Anyway, I'm new to the Wikimedia translation, but just would like to help out. - (edit conflict) No problem and thank you for your work as a translator! If you need help, feel free to ask me here, on Meta talk:Babylon, or on Meta:Babel. I'll leave messages to you in English in the future. PiRSquared17 (talk) 13:57, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the effort, though :) Here's my questions. Am I supposed to translate every word? Can I leave some words as they are in English, as opposed to transcribing them into Thai? And what about words in the links to other wiki pages? -- Jkonwp (talk) 15:44, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- You can translate every word, but it's OK to leave some technical terms in English (sometimes with an explanation next to them). You can see if there's already a Thai term for the expression that is used on Wikipedia. I'm not sure about transliteration, though. Do not translate links like [[Foo]]. You can use a template for this if you want to, see template:ll, which only works for links on Meta. If you want, you can change the link to [[Foo|Bar]] where Bar is the translation of the Foo into Thai. PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:05, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you very much indeed. That definitely cleared things up for me. Here are some transliterated words that I can see from the Thai version of the welcome message: วิกิมีเดีย (Wikimedia), บาบิลอน (Babylon), บาเบล (Babel). Personally, I'd rather leave these words in English. -- Jkonwp (talk) 17:18, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Grazie ancora, Ciao, --Gloria sah (talk) 21:50, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
--Gloria sah (talk) 17:43, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

SBHandler
[edit]The SBHandler gadget is useful for adding and removing to the blacklist, especially from talk:Spam blacklist, especially useful when there are a clump of domains list through {{LinkSummary}}. penny for your thoughts
[edit]We are about to close wikimania2012, and I am thinking about a sitenotice that basically says that it is closed and now an archive. Wondering what are our opportunities for presenting that in a translated format, but you know my ignorance about all things translation-related, and that I rely on advice of the knowing. I am also thinking that this can almost be a universal type set of text that may be able to be applied to any closed wiki. Your ideas? Thoughts? Guidance? Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:28, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
- Use Meta:Language select if you really want to have translation. This is the best solution because users reading the wiki will probably not have an account (and therefore no language setting). I have set up language select in the MediaWiki:Common.js there, so just use the HTML-style code on the aforementioned Meta page as a template, by collecting translations from Meta. - Sir, when some few people are banning you to label your business in a language other than Catalan, Spanish is prohibited, or when your kids will teaching the beautiful catalan language, english, french, or Korean (hahah. ..), but banning the Spanish due full of hatred laws, is a scandal, but that it is political and has nothing to see here.
- But when my children see in the encyclopedia that Spain did not exist in 1888 or 1992 because some nationalist put the catalan flag of Spain on ca.wikipedia.org instead the spanish one because is prohibited, so that IS a scandal. Tomorrow your children can read that the Olympic Games were hosted in the "Independent State of Zoltan Catalan Galaxy", but, (sorry) in 1888 and in 1992 (and today), Spain DOES exist. I apologize for my vocation as a historian, but (...sorry) history is written.
- About the fact that people laugh or attacks the fact of using anonymous IP: when you live surrounded by hate and violence that makes some few nationalist change history encyclopedias, I don't give a "bledo". Catalonia is my land, but I am also Spanish. of course.

Re: Meta-Wiki
[edit]Hi. Please see my reply on my talk page. I want the discussion consolidated there so it makes sense to others who might want to get involved. Plus I don't check my Meta watchlist, and so I would not know of your replies on your talk page. I get email notices for edits to my user talk page. --Timeshifter (talk) 02:37, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Cookie for you!
[edit]I see you are still making everyone else look lazy around here. ;p Great work! I keep running across your comments here and there, and you are always quick and responsive (RFH, forum, babel). Keep it up, though I don't have a savory pastry or cookie for you this time, I hope you'll consider one due. Also, come hang out on IRC some time! Thanks again! May I ask another favor, please?
[edit]Hi πr2. Thanks very much for all your help over the last week or so. It's really great to work with the friendly admins at the smaller wikis. It's a welcome change from things over at enwp and I truly appreciate the support. Could I ask another favor, please? Could you update the lede section at the top of Wikimedia Foundation elections/Board elections/2013? It also has a bunch of the old dates. Thanks very much for the help. 64.40.54.63 02:18, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Translating the BOT page
[edit]Let me try tagging it fully :) –SJ talk 18:16, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- Sure, I was starting by trying to get the chart translatable... turns out to be harder than I thought. Of course, it's possible to have the translations passed as parameters. PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:19, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, all yours. You might check my work - I haven't used the extension recently. (Now I'm trying to figure out whether to translate docs on wmf:wiki in-place or should move them here.) –SJ talk 18:26, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'm about to mark it for translation, but I'm wondering whether or not the stuff about the Nominating Committee is
correctup-to-date. PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:35, 1 June 2013 (UTC)- It's got a historical on it so I'd say probably not, per the last edit summary, it appears it's been superceded by WMF Board Governance Committee. Could you also mark the OTRS page for translation PiRSquared? I'd do it myself but I'm a bit short of time at the moment. I think we can safely not translate the queue names, OTRS/Recruiting might also be a useful page to translate, and potentially OTRS/Volunteering/Header too (which is transcluded at the top of OTRS/Volunteering). Thehelpfulone 19:13, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- That's outdated. I'll look a the OTRS after I finish the Board. PiRSquared17 (talk) 19:17, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. @SJ, what are your thoughts on translating the Board related documents, in terms of where they should be translated (Meta/WMF wiki), and where they should go (Meta -> WMF wiki, or just stay on Meta, or just directly translate on WMF wiki)? Thehelpfulone 20:01, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- Re the check PiR it looks good, not sure what the new <tvar|> tags are for though, does this show up in the translate extension? Thehelpfulone 20:13, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- You don't know tvar?! See mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page_translation_administration. xyz makes the translators write $foo instead of xyz in translations. Useful for long links. PiRSquared17 (talk) 20:15, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Done BoT, doing OTRS. PiRSquared17 (talk) 20:31, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
THO: I think I'd like to start a set of Resolution pages here on Meta, with translations here. Then the wmf: pages can be archival-status -- posted by the secretary, rarely updated, not open for comment... while the Meta pages can be well translated, and the talk pages of all translations could ideally link to a single multilingual talkpage. What do you think? –SJ talk 20:42, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- I think that sounds like a good idea, it would mean translations could be done considerably more freely and we'd use the resolutions on wmf wiki as static 'official' versions. SJ would you like all the old resolutions to be copied across to Meta too? Perhaps a Resolution: namespace? PiR do you have any thoughts on the matter? Thehelpfulone 20:54, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'll look at this later. Busy now. PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:30, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, that is a good first step. I don't think we need a resolution namespace; it can be under WMF Resolutions (we already have pages such as Affiliations_Committee/Resolutions; help welcome. We can move this subthread to the talk page there. –SJ talk 21:01, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Advice regarding translation of the Wiki Project Med front page?
[edit]Thank you for your help there. Since then, several changes have been made to the current English version, which I fear may have broken the translation process. Is it possible to make changes to the current English version without interrupting the translations? (I need to add a section about memberships.) --Anthonyhcole (talk) 07:22, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- If you add it, I will try to fix it. Tell me when done. Generally, it should be fine unless it contains <!--T:(something)--> or <translate> tags. PiRSquared17 (talk) 22:37, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. Have I done that right? --Anthonyhcole (talk) 03:15, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- Done Honestly, that page is kinda long to translate (and nobody has done a complete, or even half-done, translation either). It might be easier to translate if you split it into multiple pages, but I don't even know if translation of some of that stuff is needed. Of course, it's always nice to leave the possibility. If you need more assistance, feel free to ask. PiRSquared17 (talk) 04:01, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

[edit]This function definitely should work crosswiki, I just wanted to thank you for this edit!!! --MF-W 15:13, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- Haha, we need a "you're welcome" button for thank you notes too. More seriously, this could encourage new users to contribute, but it makes Wikipedia look like a social network (isn't it one already?). PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:18, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- Indeed, I agree especially to the last part. :-P Vogone talk 15:21, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- A couple of days ago I almost pressed "thank" instead of "undo"... that would've been awkward. Ajraddatz (Talk) 15:38, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

- A couple of days ago I almost pressed "thank" instead of "undo"... that would've been awkward. Ajraddatz (Talk) 15:38, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- Possible, though I think you could seriously also encourage noobs by sending them a "thank you" via already existing tools, such as WikiLove or - shudder shudder, nobody at the Foundation's design department will have thought of that: writing on their talk page by hand :OOO (makes it even more social!) --MF-W 17:11, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- True, but now we can do it all in one click (just like rollback)! And nobody else can see what edit you're referring to, which is nice if you don't want other people to know you liked an edit... PiRSquared17 (talk) 20:40, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Re: User:Catlouvre
[edit]Hi PiRSquared, well, in my opinion that content could be considered as spam/promotional or something like off-topic, at least, according to the policy (it is supposed to be valid here too). Perhaps his user page should have been moved on his respective sandbox. IMHO even his sandbox on en.wiki includes spam material; on the other hand, if DannyB deleted that page, it could evidently be accounted as spam. This RfC should have a good chunk of participation. Can you make some suggestions on advertising it globally. It's already on Village Pump.—cyberpower ChatHello! 02:57, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- Try the mailing lists, Wikimedia Forum, Template:Main Page/WM News. For really important things (probably not needed in this case), you can ask an admin to create a CentralNotice or use global message delivery. Maybe GMD, but CentralNotice is overkill in my opinion (unless enabled only for autoconfirmed/admins). PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:08, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- I consider this important. The concern whether or not this affects privacy seems to be very dynamic.—cyberpower ChatHello! 03:11, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- If you're not already doing so, I'll add this to WM News and Wikimedia Forum. I personally don't participate in the mailing lists, so I'm not sure how to do that correctly. if you write a message, an admin or approved user can use global message delivery to send a message about the RfC to all Village Pumps. If you're done writing the RfC content, I'd recommend marking it for translation (any translation admin can do this for you). Translation encourages participation from users who don't understand English enough to read the proposal completely. If you really want to use CentralNotice, add the campaign to CentralNotice/Calendar. I would not make a CentralNotice for this without a discussion about it. Anything else? PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:18, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- I really think CentralNotice is a bad idea, especially considering the current battle on Commons - that will doom this to fail. --Rschen7754 03:27, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed about CentralNotice, but I don't know what the problem on Commons is. PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:31, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

- Agreed about CentralNotice, but I don't know what the problem on Commons is. PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:31, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- I really think CentralNotice is a bad idea, especially considering the current battle on Commons - that will doom this to fail. --Rschen7754 03:27, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
--Gloria sah (talk) 15:35, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

How to change main page
[edit]Hey there, would you have any idea on how to change the main page on ang Wikipedia from "hēafodsīde" to "hēafodtramet"? The current setup is that "hēafodsīde" redirects to "hēafodtramet", but that is less than tidy. I myself will have a look in the system messages. Gottistgut (talk) 23:10, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! Yes, it's ang:MediaWiki:Mainpage. Please also update it on translatewiki, if possible. Hope this helps, PiRSquared17 (talk) 23:15, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Two questions
[edit]- I just succeeded in having w:simple:Shabbat promoted to GA. Is there a cross-wiki bot to add the {{Link GA|simple}} template to other language versions of the article, or does that have to be done by hand?
- Can I suppress Visual Editor in enwiki (and eventually other wikis)? I find it much harder to use than markup.
Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 06:19, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not completely sure about this, but I think reading en:Template:Link GA/doc will help. Sometimes a bot will do it[87][88], but it seems not all wikis have such bots (I haven't checked for crosswiki ones). For example, zu:Euro doesn't have Link GA/FA templates, but there are several equivalent articles with good/featured status. This might eventually become a Wikidata feature, which would make it much easier (cf. bugzilla:40810).
- Yes. To hide VE, go to the Gadgets panel of preferences, go to the "Editing" header, and check "Remove VisualEditor from the user interface". This does not really disable VE; however, it does hide it from the interface. I'm not sure how the cross-wiki deployment will work exactly, but one way hide it from all wikis (probably) is this:
- Create an account on all wikis (there's a script for that!)
- Get global JavaScript
- Add to your global.js page.
mw.loader.load('//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-oldeditor.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');
- There may be an easier way, especially after bugzilla:50929 and/or global prefs and JS are implemented. This seems to be the only currently-working solution to globally disable it, but I'll ping Ironholds about that. One good thing about this solution is that you can use it to install other scripts (like popups, Twinkle, etc.) globally too, once you have global JS. And you can easily re-enable VE. PiRSquared17 (talk) 12:41, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- See response from Okeyes (Ironholds), a Community Liaison who is currently answering feedback about VE. PiRSquared17 (talk) 13:23, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. Absent an interwiki bot, I'm not especially sure that running a bot is so much faster than going from wiki to wiki. So far, I've gone through the 1,000,000+ wikis, plus Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino. But I might wait; the latest Wikidata newsletter suggests this is now actively in the works.
- As to the Visual Editor issue, I can work with that. Thanks for your help. Any other round foods you need these days? Pizza? Bagels? StevenJ81 (talk) 15:19, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm happy to help with any other technical things. As for the food: Pizza is still a pie (π), isn't it? :P PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:03, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- It's awfully tempting to assume the word "pie" comes from that, isn't it? (Except π wasn't used for this purpose until after 1700.) (;-) Have a good weekend. StevenJ81 (talk) 17:14, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- Of course, you are always welcome to ask technical questions to me or anyone on Tech. Well, thank you for that cookie (and the offer for pizza/bagels), and have a happy weekend yourself! [edit]Can you have a look at whether the first revision here was of any use? --MF-W 02:06, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
- Caralho, the page name, is a swear word in Portuguese, the native language of the IP's country (Brazil). As for the content, it's just copied from xh:isiNgesi, the page about the English language. Also, the added "que vontade de fuder" Portuguese text (Google translate it if you want) is vulgar. The first part means something like Caralho (que vontade de fuder) – language of English people/England (?). Basically, it's just about the English language with some Portuguese swears thrown in at the beginning. PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:21, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
- Now that you say it... we say "karallu" in Tetum and "futuere" in Latin! I clearly can't deal with languages at this time of day. Thanks. Deleted as vandalism now. --MF-W 02:25, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'd expect a sysop on two Nguni language wikis (sswiki, sswiktionary) to be able to see that it's about English. ;) Compare: ss:SíNgísi "SíNgísi, lúlwîmi" - xh:isiNgesi "isiNgesi – ulwimi[...]". And, of course, translating the Portuguese text would have helped. But it's too late for you to deal with this, I agree. :P PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:30, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Recent software changes (Not all changes will affect you.)
- The latest version of MediaWiki (1.22/wmf10) was added to test wikis on July 11. It will be enabled on non–Wikipedia sites on July 15, and on all Wikipedias on July 18. [89]
- The Disambiguator extension was enabled on all Wikimedia wikis on July 9 (bug #50174). To use it, add the
__DISAMBIG__
code to disambiguation templates (see example). [90] - The Universal Language Selector was added to all remaining wikis on July 9, finishing the process of replacing the Narayam and WebFonts extensions. [91]
- The CommonsDelinker bot is now on-line and operating again, after a password problem was fixed (bug #51016).
- VisualEditor news:
- According to the schedule, VisualEditor will be available to all users on the English Wikipedia on July 15.
- Users should add TemplateData to templates to prepare for VisualEditor. A tutorial is available.
- Parameters marked as "required" in TemplateData are now auto-added when you add a template (bug #50747).
- Warnings are now displayed in VisualEditor when users edit pages that are protected or have edit notices (bug #50415).
- Many other bugs have been fixed in VisualEditor during the past two weeks.
- The Wikimedia technical report for June has been published, with a summary that can be translated.
Future software changes
- A new version of the Single User Login system for global accounts will be enabled on July 17. Users will now automatically go back to the previous page instead of seeing the "Login success" page with logos. [92]
- The software that resizes images on all wikis will change on July 18. Resizing of big images will be faster and more reliable, and the resolution limit for GIF, PNG and TIFF files (currently set at 50 megapixels) will be removed. [93]
- Edit tags (mostly used by AbuseFilter) will now also be on diff pages. They include a link to Special:Tags before the edit summary. Wikis that use links in tag messages should remove them. [94] [95]
- Global edit filters are currently in testing and will be added to wikis later. [96]
- Wikivoyage wikis will start to use Wikidata for interwiki links on July 22. [97]
- A new image gallery design has been proposed by Brian Wolff; comments and feedback are welcome.
- An IRC discussion about Bugzilla is planned for July 16, at 16:00 (UTC) on the IRC channel #wikimedia-office on Freenode (time conversion). [98]

[edit]Hello,
I was interested in becoming an admin at the Old English Wiktionary, and Gottistgut told me that I should talk to you about that. So how should I go about getting (temporary, at least) adminship there? I wish to become an admin there so that I'd have everything I need thoroughly clean the Old English Wiktionary up and get it to a (somewhat) acceptable state.
On an unrelated note, this user created a spammy page in the mainspace over there: http://ang.wiktionary.org/wiki/kalkulator_bmi

[edit]AFAIK I provided an explanation on the edit summary and/or WM:RFH. The reason is that it split history and that the subpage is harder to follow (it has almost 150 watchers less), so for transparency it's better to keep it on the main page given that it's its main content. If there are no translatable updates, there's no need to remark. --Nemo 08:17, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hello,
How do I edit SITENAME or get it edited?
Thanks,
Espreon (talk) 03:38, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- I think you may need to request it on Bugzilla. See mw:$wgSitename. I'm sure you would get a response in #mediawiki. I'm a little busy now, so I probably can't help much. Actually, there may be a MediaWiki message overriding this - I'm not sure, so ask in #mediawiki. P.S. I think you can also give it different cases (for OE nominative, accusative, genitive, dative and instrumental). Ask a dev on IRC or Bugzilla about that. PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:58, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Global twinkle
[edit]Your script has been giving me trouble editing Wikidata. I only figured it out today. Here's what happens when that script is loaded: When add/edit link is pressed on an entry, some blank lines would come up instead of the usual edit field. See http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4033/3lwk.jpg Here I have pressed the link for jawiki, ptwiki & simplewiki (notice the vertical bars) and when add is pressed at Wikivoyage section, a blank line appears. - Hello. I have been a little busy recently, so I may not have time to answer follow-ups about this soon. I'll probably look into the problem eventually (no promises). However, here is my short-term recommendation: you can exclude certain wikis from using Twinkle by using code like in User:Hazard-SJ/global.js (search for the "twinkleWikisToExclude" part, just make it { wikidatawiki: true }). (and, of course, replace the importAnyScript stuff with the code you already have with morebits and twinkle) Hope this helps for now. Actually, I could make it automatically be disabled on Wikidata. Would that be better? PiRSquared17 (talk) 20:21, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. Better, IMHO ;-) I have removed it from my d:/common.js though. --Glaisher [talk] 16:55, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your offer. (I'm watching; you don't need to TB.)
What I was playing with, but don't know enough js to do, is this:
- I now have the js we originally worked on—namely, the links to my various watchlists—as well as a link to a MediaWiki gadget (the local live clock) contained in my global.js file. I also load the old (non-VE) editor, per what you guys advised before. That global.js is being called successfully by my various local common.js scripts.
- I was trying to see if I could substitute the title "Watchlists" with a variable, which I could then fill in with a local title at common.js. So if the default title is "Watchlists", I might substitute that by Listes de suivi at frwiki, for example, without having to copy the whole code locally. If I can't, I can't; it's not a big deal. But that's what I've been playing with.
Separately, as an idea for that global substitution bot, one of the things I would potentially like to do is be able to duplicate my iw's across my user pages, since we are not supposed to put those into WD. However, if you do that directly, you end up with the local wiki's bold, black "iw link" in the middle of the user page, like happens on navboxes with the local page's link. Question is: can that bot be modified to skip each wiki's local iw in turn?
Thanks as always for your help. And I hope you never become User:TauRSquared8.5. StevenJ81 (talk) 23:31, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hello! As always, it's my pleasure to answer these requests. It makes me think about some interesting problems, which I truly enjoy.
- I saw what you tried. Here is the correct way to do it in that style: Special:PermaLink/5708121. I also did a shorter one: Special:PermaLink/5708120. Either one should work, but I haven't tested them. I'm a bit busy. Please tell me if you encounter any problems.
- (Re: Synchbot thing) The obvious answer (to me, at least) is to wrap all the interwikis in <div style="display: none">[...]</div> (replace the "[...]" with the list of interwikis). I have a few more ideas about this, however, so I recommend asking Pathoschild about this.
- Rambling/Rant: You also have to worry about non-Wikipedia wikis (sister projects), so the solution below won't work. Why isn't this part of Wikidata anyway? You won't be able to update the iw list without either making another Synchbot request or doing a bunch of manual stuffz. Maybe you could use parserfunctions/variables to do this better. A better way for this might just be to ask Pathoschild. Until, of course, the WMF finally implements global user pages. If that will ever happen.
- Regards, PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:57, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Another version: Special:PermaLink/5708275 if you prefer. Translate from central location. But I like the one you're using now. Does it work? PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:46, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- It works great. The advantage to this one is that you don't have to keep going back to global.js to add new translations. If you go to a different-language wiki and want to change the title you can, from inside that wiki. If you don't want to, you don't have to. Customizations belong in individual common.js files. (Just curious: in the version you just laid out [which I don't like as well, but is a cool solution], would it choose the translation by the display language I have chosen, or by the language of the wiki itself?)
- The <span style="display:none"> works well on the iw links, too. (Do I know why WD isn't hosting this stuff? You're closer to WMF than I am, by a long stretch!) StevenJ81 (talk) 03:20, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- In the other version I just wrote, it uses the wiki's language. It can be changed to use the user language if you change the "wgContentLanguage" to "wgUserLanguage", which is a very minor edit. One advantage of that is that it sets the tabs for all wikis in that language, not just Wikipedia. That might not be important if you mainly edit WP, though. I do prefer the one I gave you earlier though, for the reasons you mention. Well, the Wikidata thing seems to be due to this RfC and its "sequel". Some valid points, but it does make interwiki linking of userpages much harder. And never hesitate to ask me for help on technical (or global/small wiki/Meta) matters. I'm going to be busy/away for a while this month, but I'll try to answer as soon as I can. :-) PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:35, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Have a good month. Certainly nothing urgent from me.
- I suppose if I wanted to eat my cake and have it, too, I might like to be able to invoke a small menu from my local common.js. Consider Yiddish Wikipedia. There's a neat set of gadgets there; see w:yi:MediaWiki:Gadget-UseLangEn.js that allow one to quickly change the user interface there. So for someone like me, with just a little Yiddish, it is useful to be able to look at the interface in Yiddish sometimes, but in English most of the time. So it would be cool to have my title change languages at the same time. (Not, as far as it goes, that all of the rest of the interface actually changes languages when you run the gadget, or change your settings ...)
- But let's face it: there are few languages in that category. There are languages I speak well enough to use the interface in (en, fr, he) and ones I don't (yi, lad). And most of the time I will use native language interface in the former category and English in the latter. And as far as it goes, Synchbot can even do the customized language link for my title pretty quickly, even in the few non-WP wikis I occasionally go to:
- Synchbot basic common.js file
- Synchbot
watchlists='Listes de suivi'
as a "prepend" to all fr.* wikis - Repeat preceding for he.* wikis, etc.
- Anyway, this is fun stuff, but RL intrudes. Take care, and thanks for the help. StevenJ81 (talk) 14:28, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you. I think you have already found a solution that works, but, if you want to perfect it to use the language setting of the user, I recommend you either use the latest one I gave you with "wgContentLanguage" replaced by "wgUserLanguage" or modify the local js of your current version (what I recommend). So instead of watchlists='Listes de suivi', use Actually, that might not work, if mw is not loaded by the time it runs the script. And it won't change the tab if you set your language to something else (e.g., using fr on enwiki ... but why would you want to do that anyway?). As I mentioned earlier, Special:PermaLink/5708275 will do this if you replace wgContentLanguage with wgUserLanguage. But then you have to go to global.js to modify the translations. You could also try using
if (mw.config.get('wgUserLanguage') == 'fr') watchlists = 'Listes de suivi';

hi
[edit]The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
PiR^2, please read this carefully, and tell me how to proceed. I don't know in what planet this is acceptable. Cirt (the one who created that attack user page) deleted it, but then LauraHale recreated it. She knows it is not a sock, and that it is a public rename. [125] [126] [127] [128] Also, it has 0 edits on Wikinews, so calling it a "Wikinews sockpuppet" is completely uncalled for, and is just attacking my real name. To whom should I report this abuse? (Thanks for your help.) ~ DanielTom (talk) 13:14, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- I don't really know what to recommend. Obviously public renames are not socks, at least per the English Wikipedia's policy w:Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. However, I would recommend just working on other wikis (e.g., Portuguese Wikinews) for a while, being nice, and then request it to a Wikinews admin again. After that period of time, they might even consider unblocking you, if you can show that they can trust you now. PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:31, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Also, if you really want to report this alleged abuse, you may start a RFC. But I do not recommend this, as it's likely to only cause drama and more ill will between you and the Wikinews community. One of the last times a blocked/banned user filed an RfC, it caused a huge drama fest. So I hope that answers your last question. BTW, I personally believe that the user you are referring to has helped Wikimedia greatly, even if she has also made some mistakes (in your opinion). PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:37, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- P.S. I just asked LauraHale about this on IRC, and she said mentioned a possible compromise (quote from LauraHale): "1) The rename account (which en.wp shows was socking) would say it was a rename account that he could still log into and so is indefinetely blocked. 2) The brother's account could have the page deleted pending a successful unblock request." I can't really help with anything more than this. Another quote: "An unblock would involve 6 months of positive news contributing to another language Wikinews project, a demonstration of a clear understanding of news principles on the project (and especially why sockpuppeting would be a major breach of trust for a project engaged in original reporting), and no blocks on other projects for similar behavior that led to the en.wp and en.wn blocks to begin with." PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:05, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Socking involves deception. How could "Daniel Tomé" ever be socking when the difference to my account is just one letter? Worse, it redirected to my DanielTom account. And was a very public rename. [129] [130] [131] [132] It only has one accidental edit on Wikipedia [133] which was corrected 2 minutes later [134]. Check the diffs. The CU only shows that the public rename, and the renamed account, are related (which is true of the thousands of renames out there, not just of mine, obviously). Even if "Daniel Tomé" was socking at Wikipedia with its one (1) edit, and clearly it wasn't, but let's pretend, it was even more strikingly not socking at Wikinews, as it has zero edits there. So again, in what planet is this acceptable? ~ DanielTom (talk) 16:18, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

As I was asked to comment... DanielTom, you were told that on English Wikinews, individual reporter reputation is vitally important. It accumulates. As a project, we strongly condone sock puppeting in the extreme because it undermines the credibility of our original news reporting when there is deception involved. Given this attitude, the admin community supports blocks locally for sock puppeting on English Wikinews for sock puppeting done on other Wikimedia projects. We can compromise, remove the sock puppet thing for the rename, list it as YOUR account and then explain that both your DanielTom account and your original account are blocked indefinitely for the reasons already explained to you. If this is unacceptable, you may request a private hearing from English Wikinews arbitration committee, which 4 of the 6 members were involved in various blocking decisions related to you. --LauraHale (talk) 16:42, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Condone isn't the word you're looking for. Ajraddatz (Talk) 16:45, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- I don't object to socks being blocked. I object to accounts that are clearly not socks, and which have zero edits on Wikinews, being blocked and tagged as socks. Are you going to say that all public renames by other users are also Wikinews sockpuppets? The "Daniel Tomé" page was deleted, and so it should be, as it has zero edits on Wikinews. If you really want it there, then it should be a redirect to my "DanielTom" account. (That would be less ideal, but I wouldn't object to it.) Cirt deleted the user page, and you recreated it, but it has no reason to exist, as we shouldn't be creating pages for public renames on every wiki where said users have never edited. ~ DanielTom (talk) 17:03, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- At this point, I don't think there is any benefit to continuing this discussion on Pi's talk page. Daniel, Pi gave some very good advice above when he recommended that you start editing on another project and rebuild some sort of good reputation. If you want to discuss your block on the English Wikipedia or Wikinews (which I wouldn't recommend), then there are appropriate channels for that. Let's move on. Ajraddatz (Talk) 17:05, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ajraddatz, your comment is completely devoid of content. "Let's" move on? What? Are you somehow involved in this? I didn't notice that it was your real name on the line. To be clear, no one is asking to be unblocked. We are talking about a userpage that wrongly calls "sock" to a public rename, which has zero edits on Wikinews. The "benefit" of this discussion would be that I wouldn't have to waste the community's time with a request for comment, since the nonsense user page can just be deleted. The fact that the account is a public rename isn't going to change in 6 months, 5 years, or 1000 years. ~ DanielTom (talk) 17:37, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi again. Here is what Ajraddatz really meant by "Let's move on": he was referring to you (and LauraHale), not himself. I know that might sound strange to a non-native speaker, but the "let's" (let us) was not really including himself. Here is my comment on the userpage issue: I personally don't think this should be labelled as a sock either, but I have no control over this. I am not an admin there, and I don't want to get involved in drama. LauraHale mentioned a compromise above: to replace the page with "This is an account belonging to DanielTom. It is indefinetely blocked for X, Y and Z", and doing nothing to your brother's account without an unblock request. Would you be okay with having your original userpage be a redirect and having your new one be a big block notification [this is what Laura told me the conditions for being a redirect are]? Maybe a block notice with the current content under it?
- Daniel, I agree--it is strange to call this a sock. But there's nothing I can really do about it. Laura has already mentioned a compromise above. I recommend you start contributing constructively to other wikis if you want to be unblocked. I have given you many suggestions. I recommend you take one, and drop this issue. Sorry for not being able to help more. (Sorry if this sounds rude, it was just supposed to be honest) PiRSquared17 (talk) 17:55, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Users who are blocked don't have their user pages defaced by petty admins. I was blocked on Wikinews for rather fabricated reasons, which I am not going to discuss here. The "Daniel Tomé" userpage should be deleted. It has zero edits. If she wants to keep it, then turn it into a redirect, Wouldn't that do the job of identifying it? (Or is the actual purpose to attack my real name?) I should mention I am already contributing on a number of different wikis, including Wikiquote, Commons, Portuguese Wikipedia, Wikisource, etc. (I appreciate your sincere comments, PiRS, you're one of the most sane people here.) ~ DanielTom (talk) 18:14, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for the compliment. There is really nothing I can do. The page is protected, I've been discussing this all day (I'm not even very involved), and, to be honest, I think I'm one of the only users who is not happy with your userpage situation. Ajraddatz seems to be neutral, but can probably understand how you feel. But, if I were you, I would discuss it somewhere else. And thank you for your edits on other projects. If you don't want this visible in search results for your name, then ask for it to be __NOINDEX__'ed (not here, please). But Laura's last comment seems to show that the admins there won't listen to you anymore. I just recommend to move on, and contribute to other projects. PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:44, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Now your old userpage redirects to your new one, and the new one lists the block reasons. Maybe Laura could have at least kept the soft redirect/content you had before under the block notice, but I have no control over this. Are you satisfied with this now? PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:10, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- No, I am not satisfied. Users who are blocked shouldn't have their userpages vandalized by the blocking admin. ~ DanielTom (talk) 18:16, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- The best compromise you will get has now been done. The Tomé page has been redirected to the DanielTom page, and the DanielTom page now says the user is blocked and explains why. The accounted connected to the brother will require a separate unblock request before any action will be considered. Hopefully, with this compromise done, we can all move on. --LauraHale (talk) 18:12, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Laura, where is the policy that allows you to deface a user page of a blocked user? When a user is blocked, you end there. People can read your reasons on the talk page. Admins can read it in the block log. Who are you trying to impress? I know you're trying to attack me, but come on, could you please grow up? (One notes you didn't change my user page when you blocked me. You only changed it today. Why?) ~ DanielTom (talk) 18:18, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

PiRSquared17, I apologize for any part I had in dragging you into this. As it is quite clear DanielTom has zero interest in working with the community, is only interested in getting his way, further dialog is pointless. There is clear precedent that allows block messages on other projects. We would have been more than happy with the sockpuppet notification, but DanielTom made clear he was not so the current option announcing why he was blocked works best. Rationale contributors know this is not vandalism when admins do that. DanielTom is keen to cite Wikipedia for things. User:Nimbley6 is one example where this is done there. The previous version of Daniel Tomé on Wikinews indicated such pages were culturally acceptable on Wikinews. The user has reached an intractable position, has an accumulated reputation which means he is likely never going to be perceived as community minded enough for this state to change. I apologize again to you PiRSquared17 and others involved. I promise not to engage any more with DanielTom on this issue and I will advise other English Wikinews administrators to do the same in order to mitigate future conflicts. --LauraHale (talk) 18:35, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- What is clear is that LauraHale wants to keep being abusive, and has just replaced one abuse with another abuse. Saying that I have "zero interest in working with the community" fails to note my hundreds of edits translating pages at Meta, not to mention the almost six thousand edits I have on Wikiquote, and many other constructive article edits on over 10 wikis, some of which mentioned above. Laura, please tell me why you didn't change my userpage when you blocked me, but only decided to deface it today? ~ DanielTom (talk) 18:44, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

New features
- The previous version of MediaWiki (1.22/wmf13) was added to test wikis and MediaWiki.org on August 15. It was enabled on non-Wikipedia sites on August 19, and on all Wikipedias on August 22. [135]
- The latest version of MediaWiki (1.22/wmf14) was added to test wikis and MediaWiki.org on August 22. It will be enabled on non-Wikipedia sites on August 26, and on all Wikipedias on August 29. [136]
- You can now use new styles of galleries. Please give feedback to User:Bawolff. [137]
- You can now visit a random page in a category, for example Special:RandomInCategory/Science. (25931) [138]
- You can now use the
<wbr>
HTML5 tag to say where a word can be cut. (52468) [139] - Gadget authors: you can now use the
wikipage.content
hook, so that your scripts are re-run when a page is changed after thedocument-ready
event (for example using Ajax). (30713) [140]
Problems fixed
- There was a bug where file redirects didn't work when a file was renamed; it is now fixed. There is still an issue with purging, but it should be fixed soon. (52200)
- Maintenance reports provided by special pages will now all be updated on each wiki every six months. This will for example give you recent information on uncategorized pages, unused templates and most wanted pages (see details).
- There was a bug that caused false positives for anti-blanking edit filters; it is now fixed. (52077) [141]
VisualEditor news
- The "edit" and "edit source" tabs and section edit links can now be changed more easily; for example, some wikis are using "edit source" for wikitext editing, and "edit beta" for VisualEditor. You can ask for the same change in bugzilla.
- You can now edit references that are added inside a
<references>
block. (51741) - You can now test on mediawiki.org new basic tools to add and edit struck text (with the button for the
<s>
tag), lower text ( for
), upper text ( for
), underlined text ( for<u>
), computer code ( for</code>
and<tt>
), math text ( for<math>
), Egyptian hieroglyphs ( for<hiero>
), and to say that text is in another language ( forlang="ar" dir="rtl"
). (51609, 51612, 51611, 51590, 51610, 52352) - You can now use VisualEditor with the Opera browser. [142]
Future
- Starting on August 26, you will be able to use data from Wikidata on Wikivoyage sites. [143]
- Starting on August 27, you will also get notifications on the mobile site if you're logged in to a wiki using notifications. [144]
- Starting on August 28, all users with an account will be using HTTPS to access Wikimedia sites. HTTPS brings better security and improves your privacy. Some countries (like China) will not use HTTPS. If HTTPS causes problems for you, tell us on meta. [145]
- Starting on August 29, you will get the code editor interface to edit JavaScript and CSS pages on all wikis. [146]
- The plan to use Solr for search in MediaWiki was changed; instead, Elasticsearch is now planned. [147]

Possible bug at Simple
[edit]O! Most high and exalted Circular One! (Are you familiar with Flatland?)
There may be a bug at simplewiki, but I wanted to run it by you first. When I load my watchlist there, I am getting a "mixed https/http content" type of error notice. It's not in any of the scripts that I am running from my .js files, because I'm not having the trouble on any other page there. And I don't have the trouble at any other watchlist. On quick observation, I couldn't tell a difference between a version where I allowed the non-secure content and a version where I blocked it, so perhaps it is invisible content. In any event I thought I ought to report it.
Thanks, and have a good weekend. StevenJ81 (talk) 21:52, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! I am familiar with Flatland, because I used to live there before I moved to Spaceland.
- After a bit of investigation, I found the problem. See simple:MediaWiki talk:Common.js/watchlist.js. If you want to know how I found that, I can tell you, but I don't want to write out the details of how I debugged that right now. Have a good weekend! PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:47, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- No need for the details, and I see what you had Osiris do there. Thanks for taking care of it. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:29, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Global message access list
[edit]Hi there. If just put a request to be put on the access lsite here... I am not sure whether there is a formal procedure. So I just dropped a request there. I have to drop a message on all Wikivoyage language versions about interlanguage expeditions, projects and discussions frequently as well as announcements from the WV association as a thematic organisation. Thanks.... Stefan aka Fussi -- DerFussi 07:04, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks for helping with cross-wiki coordination, and good luck getting Wikivoyage e.V. recognized as a ThOrg. :-) If you need help with the bot, just ask MZMcBride (I may also be able to help with some questions.). One important note: make sure all the links work before sending it! PiRSquared17 (talk) 13:15, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've created a list already but will check it first. Will do that tomorrow. The AffCom is waiting for my report... :) Thanks. -- DerFussi 16:28, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
SPCom
[edit]Hi PiRSquared17, thanks for the heads-up! Actually I asked about it some time ago. TBH I don't think there is enough interest to start a formal process for project adoption, at least not while we are in the "narrowing focus" phase, which means that all resources are centered mostly around Wikipedia. I believe that a more sensible strategy would be to collect the needs of existing sister projects and determining priorities. For external projects it could be possible to recommend which projects to fund, so they can be developed outside of the WMF umbrella for some years until the viability and the community support is shown.--Micru (talk) 15:32, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Ciao, --Gloria sah (talk) 19:55, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Dear PiRSquared17,
Thank you for taking an interest in my case, and responding so (astoundingly) fast! If I may, could I bother you regarding the procedural steps in order to file a request for Global IP block exemption on SRGP? Truth is, I don't really understand Wikipedia - it's almost as big as reality, and much too huge for me to comprehend beyond the most basic principles...
Best regards from Barcelona,
Jordissim
- Dear Jordissim,
- The steps to request global IP block exemption are listed on the SRGP (Steward requests/Global permissions) page itself, if you click the blue "expand" link.
- It is possible that the request will not even be closed before the block expires, but I would expect a steward response within a day or two. Typically it takes 5 days, even though not much happens. Sorry for the inconvenience.
- Although your English seems to be very good (as you haven't made any mistakes), I could ask some users to provide a translation into Spanish (or Catalan!) if you want. We have no native Spanish-speaking stewards, but there are obviously many other users who could help, and some stewards speak a little Spanish. Actually, Micru, who wrote a comment a few sections above, speaks Catalan and Spanish natively.

- Hey. :) Since you seem to be active at the moment, I'd like to exchange a word with you about Category:Proposed projects - other. I thought of creating it, in order to get rid of certain projects which "can't be properly categorised", but the three cases that happened to me so far to see are all about "contents" - broadly speaking.
- I mean, Wikimurder is a specific project on murders, while WikiGuide and WikiBrain can be considered a sort of "Wikipedia junkyard". In your opinion, would it be better if I rename the category as "proposed projects - contents"? I can't find a good word for it, so I'm open to suggestions. :) --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 15:37, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- @Sannita: I think that either "other" or "contents" is okay. Maybe Category:Proposed projects - inclusion (which already exists) is also a good category for the latter two, but I'm not sure. PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:58, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Help test better mass message delivery
[edit]Hi. You're being contacted as you've previously used global message delivery (or its English Wikipedia counterpart). It doesn't feel so great to be spammed, does it? ;-)
For the past few months, Legoktm has built a replacement to the current message delivery system called MassMessage. MassMessage uses a proper user interface form (no more editing a /Spam subpage), works faster (it can complete a large delivery in minutes), and no longer requires being on an access list (any local administrator can use it). In addition, many tiny annoyances with the old system have been addressed. It's a real improvement! :-)
You can test out MassMessage here: testwiki:Special:MassMessage. The biggest difference you'll likely notice is that any input list must use a new {{#target:}}
parser function. For example, {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales}}
or {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales|test2.wikipedia.org}}
. For detailed instructions, check out mw:Help:Extension:MassMessage.
If you find any bugs, have suggestions for additional features, or have any other feedback, drop a note at m:Talk:MassMessage. Thanks for spamming! --MZMcBride (talk) 05:26, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Esino Lario Wikimania bid
[edit]Hi PiRSquared17, I have seen you have reverted this edit. The point is that I was wrong in the first place to rename that page. After talking with Iopensa, one of the main proponent of the bid I was told that while the Lake Como is more generally known than the municipality of Esino Lario, they think that the name Lake Como is inaccurate and they would like to go back to the old name), so I had to ask for the deletion of the redirect to move back the page. (Or at least I think this is the procedure). May you help me? Thank you. -- CristianCantoro (talk) 21:05, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
- @CristianCantoro: Scusa! I did not understand the reason for deletion. Please forgive me. Ciao, PiRSquared17 (talk) 21:25, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi πr2, as I'm translating the L2 to pt-br I couldn't translate in this page informations inside the sync table and also in the groups section. Also the links for "create info page" are using this format: Research:Labs2/Hackathons/November_9th,_2013/pt-br/Seattle,_WA but I think it should be something like Research:Labs2/Hackathons/November_9th,_2013/Seattle,_WA/pt-br . [edit]Hi PiRSquared17,
I have translated these 3,700 Chinese characters into the Romanized Hakka alphabet. This list cover 97.5- 99% of mainstream Chinese media.
Could you help me create an online automatic transliteration tool which can translate entire article texts into the Hakka language?
Proficiency in Chinese characters is not a requirement for you because on that page I have already shown which characters match to their Romanized Hakka equivalents.

- Hello, Hak-ngìn.
- I do not know how to add that kind of support to MediaWiki's LanguageConverter, but I could probably figure it out.
- Anyway, I created a bug report for that. A developer should do this. If none do this, I will write a JavaScript program for you.
