WikiBrain would basically be Wikipedia- a communal brain, a pool of knowledge and wisdom- but this Wiki would be a place for all that knowledge and wisdom that's a.) not good enough for Wikipedia ('List of Pickup Lines') and b.) not verifiable enough for Wikipedia; it would contain opinions often (not the same as Wikiopinions proposed above), and debatable material, so users of this site would have to be able to not freak out about biased knowledge/wisdom.
WikiBrain could be a junk basket where we could put articles that aren't good enough for Wikipedia (articles on slang terms, articles about stupid things) instead of simply deleting them. BUT, WikiBrain would of course have a standard-of-significance like Wikipedia has when it comes to making articles; this site wouldn't be a joke: you can't make pages about yourself or your little garage band here.
Here are some examples of articles that WikiBrain would have:
- 'Sequels that don't suck' : and this article would include user opinions; for each film on the list, the user has to justify why he/she put it on there
- 'Stereotypes' : with a list of stereotypes for each race
- 'Reasons why the Star Wars prequels sucked'
- 'Ridonkulous' (this articles was deleted on Wikipedia b/c it's about a stupid slang term and is not good enough for Wikipedia)
I know what you're thinking- I must be joking, right? Such a site would be full of opinions and stupid material unworthy of Wikipedia. And you're right! That's the point of this Wiki; Wikipedia is the closest thing to a 'communal brain' that the internet has created so far, but let's face it: it certainly doesn't include everything that a brain thinks about! That's why WikiBrain would supplement Wikipedia, embracing all the other realms of thought, knowledge, and wisdom that we as human brains have.
This is the next evolution of Wikipedia. It'll take guts to ignore the criticism from snotty, small-minded academic types a site like this would receive and push ahead, but it's worth it. Are you as excited as I am?
