Steward requests/Global permissions

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
(Redirected from SRIPBE)
Shortcut:
SRGP
This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

[edit]
Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Global sysop for A09

[edit]
Not ending before 16 November 2024 06:37 UTC

Hello, I am A09, a slwiki admin, checkuser, and global rollbacker.

Although I am not the most prolific editor at GSR, I believe I could be a valued addition to the team. I deal daily with various forms of long-term abuse, cross-wiki spam and sock puppetry, as well as mass machine translation abuse (you can see me daily at SGR). When addressing these problems, I often need to request help from global sysops (I have 500 edits on GSR as of this nomination). I’d be happy to help with the backlog as well as continue doing what I love. Other dear colleagues also expressed their support of running for GS rights. Some voters might remember some cross-wiki block problems, but these were all resolved swiftly, as they were due to misunderstandings. I’d be happy to address any concerns you might have.

I confirm I have read appropriate policies and that my account will be protected with 2FA by the Nov 16th.--A09|(pogovor) 06:37, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for SHB2000

[edit]
Not ending before 16 November 2024 21:45 UTC

Hello, everyone. I’ve been involved with cross-wiki patrolling for a few months (though my activity levels vary significantly) and often find that the global sysop list is quite backlogged; GS will greatly help in assisting me dealing with vandalism, long-term abuse, spam and other maintenance, having made over 600 edits to GSR.

I hold sysop perms on the English Wikivoyage, English Wikibooks and Meta-Wiki, bureaucrat perms on the English Wikivoyage in addition to global rollback. I’ve thoroughly read the policy on global sysops in addition to the three local policies (srwiki, enwikinews and mediawiki.org). I also confirm that I have 2FA enabled.

Global sysop for TenWhile6

[edit]
Not ending before 27 November 2024 06:05 UTC

Dear Wikimedians, after gaining experience with the sysop tools on dewiki and metawiki, I’d like to ask for global sysop permissions. I am very familiar with global anti-vandalism work and especially GSR due to my work as a global rollbacker for over a year. If you give me this opportunity, I would help clean up vandalism and spam according to the policy. As a metawiki sysop, I frequently monitor my meta watchlist, which includes GSR. I have activated 2FA and familiarized myself with the local GS policies listed here.

Now it’s your turn: I look forward to your feedback and hope for your support. Thanks, --TenWhile6 06:05, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stewards

Before requesting, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;
  3. You have considered the addition of a user language box to your user page
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable. If you previously requested that right, please add a link to the previous discussion(s).
=== Global rename for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = meta.wikimedia <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Global IP block exempt for Faldi00

[edit]

Hello

Currently, I am living in Russia. As you know, Russia has blocked several websites since 2022. These restrictions cause me to often use VPN to access blocked websites. Unfortunately, users cannot either editing or creating a page on Wikipedia with VPN. Although Wikipedia has not been blocked yet, however several important websites that can support me during the editing or creation of an article are blocked such as BBC.com, Archive.org, Rfel.org and others. Apart from that, there are several news that stated Russia wanted to block Wikipedia, although it has not materialized yet. Hence, I am requesting Global IP block exempt so that I can edit or create an article on Wikipedia without having turning off the VPN. Faldi00 (talk) 07:22, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please file a UTRS appeal? There are questions we need to ask that are better done not visible to everyone. -- Amanda (she/her) 16:06, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just read your message so apologize for late reply. Yes, I have made a UTRS appeal. Faldi00 (talk) 06:34, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Player8635

[edit]

I was blocked when logging into Wikimedia Commons

I hope I can log in to upload some resources (such as photos of my school) for use in the wiki, and I also hope to log in to participate in editing activities, but I only have access to the Chinese wiki now, and I hope to get a global IP exemption --Player8635 (talk) 14:32, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Player8635, have you tried local (commons) IP block exempt? As far as I can understand you, you only want to edit the chinese wikipedia and commons. More information: Commons:IP block exemption. TenWhile6 15:19, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did apply for a local IP exemption, but I was blocked by Wikimedia Commons when I was editing a realm, and I can't edit tasks like: "Add an image to an article without an illustration

Global IP Block Exempt for MarkRosenbaum

[edit]

Per UTRS #95471 --DeltaQuadBot (talk) 13:00, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MarkRosenbaum the IP range you are operating on is globally blocked, but also locally blocked at enwiki. A global IP block exemption only helps agains global blocks, while local exemptions override both local and global blocks (see IP block exempt). If you want to edit at enwiki (which seems to be your main wiki) you will need to ask for a local exemption -> en:WP:IPBE, a global exemption won't help you. Johannnes89 (talk) 10:13, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Johannnes89,
I was actually looking to edit testwiki when I hit the block, I believe the testwiki block is controlled by the global block as opposed to a local block but I could be wrong. MarkRosenbaum (talk) 11:57, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have attempted to also submit an enwiki exemption request but I get the message "It has been detected that you or someone else may be trying to spam our system with appeals. Please wait until your previous appeal is closed" MarkRosenbaum (talk) 12:26, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for HelloMao

[edit]

I am a Wikipedian from mainland China. Due to the GFW blockade, I have to use open proxies to access Wikipedia. I have applied for an IP block exemption on the Chinese Wikipedia. In the past, I have participated in editing the Chinese Wikipedia multiple times without any misconduct. I hope to apply for a global IP block exemption to upload images to Wikimedia Commons and edit Wikibooks. Thank you. --HelloMao (talk) 10:56, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for HugoKoo

[edit]

As a Wikipedia editor, I reside in mainland China (PRC) generally, where access to Wikipedia is restricted. This necessitates the use of a proxy server with outside-the-state network to enable my contributions. Using a proxy can occasionally lead to complications with editing permissions due to the IP address associated with the server. Please be assured that this proxy server IP address is used exclusively for my personal using and will not be misused. Thanks. --Hokdung Koo↗️talk 14:28, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
