We are slowly but surely becoming a more organised user group and we have great plans for the future! Wikimedia Global Search
[edit]Hello, I have a question regarding Wikimedia Global search. How do we search for something, in page titles only, just like the intitle: FOOBAR of the default wiki-search (like Special:Search/intitle:Wiktionary returns all pages containing "Wiktionary" in their title). The "Title search only" of the Wikimedia Global search, e.g. [1] returns all pages across wikis whose title is exactly Wiktionary (without the scope of anything else being also present in the title apart from the namespace prefix) and not all pages just containing the word in the title (as Special:Search/intitle:Wiktionary works). - @Svartava The title field takes a regular expression. You could add
.*on each side of the title pattern, so that the query matches any title containing "Wiktionary". I tried this just now and it usually causes the tool to crash, because there are a bajillion user pages containing "wiktionary" from the SUL migration that happened years ago. So here's the same search, but limited to the main and project namespaces, which should load reasonably quickly for you: [2]. - When time allows, I hope to rework Global Search to have a similar interface and behaviour to local CirrusSearch, so that you can use
