Hello. I received two emails - one on December 21 and another on December 24 about multiple failed attempts to log into Wikipedia as Hindustanilanguage (my username). It is strange that someone wants to impersonate me in the Wikiworld. As I am being targetted repeatedly, I would like to know the geographic location and/or IP address from where this mischief is being carried so that I can be more alert. 1. Ensure you have a strong, unique password on your account
2. Ensure your recovery email is strongly secured, using multi-factor authentication if available
3. Consider enrolling in our multi-factor authentication system. (see Steward requests/Global permissions#Requests for 2 Factor Auth tester permissions
4. If the notifications are annoying you, you can suppress them in your prefernces.

Request for the patroller right

Hello, everyone.

Today, I am requesting the patroller user right; this will allow me to revert vandalism and other disruptive edits much faster. I am familiar with the patroller policy here and some rollback policies on other projects where I have the rollback right. I did a previous request, but I had to withdraw it as I might have been inexperienced at the time. I had a relevant discussion about the patroller user right with a user here.

As for the ability to mark others' edits as patrolled, I will try not to abuse the patroller right by repeatedly marking bad edits as patrolled, and using the rollback function to edit war or to gain the upper hand in content disputes.

I hate to do this, but I'm going to say no to this (thus Not done). I was initially indifferent – you have rb on enwiki, so trust isn't a huge issue here. But then I saw User talk:Bhairava7#c-TypeInfo-20250104073600-Something about requesting the patroller right, and I don't know if that's supposed to be a request asking for help or a genuine request for patroller perms, but if it's the latter, I do not feel comfortable granting perms to someone who doesn't understand how perms are assigned (I'm gonna be fully honest,the way it's phrased indicates the latter to me). Additionally, I've only seen 2 reverts on Meta-Wiki in the last 12 months too – that is way too few to be able to make a solid judgment. Please don't be discouraged (I'm well aware having two failed requests of the same permission can be frustrating at best) and do rerequest once you've addressed all the possible concerns have been addressed and have a sufficient need for patroller perms. --SHB (t • c) 10:16, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

I have no evidence of crosswiki, but I think they deserve being checked, since they are a vicious vandal and prolific sockpuppeteer at en.wiki. I would be highly amazed if they confined their vandalism campaign to only one wiki.

Main Page error (I'm not auto confirmed so can't comment on Talk:Main page)

The main page currently lists events occurring in "December 2025". By looking at the links under the section, it looks like it's meant to be "November 2024" as that's when all the linked events occurred. Also, the section directly underneath it says "October 2024" so it really being November makes sense.

@Johannes Richter (WMDE) can these accounts be globally locked? In the past this was done for other ex-WMDE employees. See the account list. Opt out the Simple English Wikipedia from global filter 131

As the section title says, on the Simple English Wikipedia we have filter 48 that now disallows new and anonymous users from blanking articles. I have requested a global block but I think a local block is also in order as they immediately imported the dispute here once they were blocked on Commons and nuisance pinged me while they were at it, showing no recognition whatsoever that they need to drop this and stop moving it from one wiki to another. As far as I can see every single edit that have ever made here was either regarding being blocked elsewhere or trying to get others to proxy for them on projects where they are blocked. Technical request on template

Sorry if this is not the best venue, I couldn't see a more appropriate location to post a technical request. Steward requests/Global has a subpage at Steward requests/Global/Archivefooter that is used to display links to the archived requests, but it is not working properly and the archiving bot is not archiving requests (e.g. Steward requests/Global/2025-w1 exists, but Steward requests/Global/2025-w2 does not).
