What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?
[edit]Description - Wiki Loves Folklore, an annual international photography contest hosted on Wikimedia Commons from February 1st to March 31st, serves as a global initiative to amass a diverse collection of media. The primary objective is to contribute content to Wikipedia and other online platforms, all under free licenses. The contest focuses on capturing and showcasing unique images that represent and document the intangible cultural heritage of various communities worldwide.
Structured with both national coordinators and an International Team, the campaign ensures comprehensive coverage. National coordinators, responsible for organizing Wiki Loves Folklore within their respective countries, play a vital role in fostering local participation. Simultaneously, the International Team steps in to organize the contest in countries lacking designated national coordinators, thereby addressing the representation gap within the Wikimedia ecosystem.
What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?

Discussion
[edit]@Joris Darlington Quarshie: Hello! Can you change the banner page for Ukraine to Commons:Commons:Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 in Ukraine?
- @Joris Darlington Quarshie and OlenaVinsent (WMUA): Ping corrected; didn't work without a signature. I think that a separate request will be needed. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 23:14, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- @DerHexer I submitted a separate application CentralNotice/Request/Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 Ukraine that will lead to our page. I would be grateful for the processing. OlenaVinsent (WMUA) (talk) 12:06, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

[edit]- @Joris Darlington Quarshie:
- Do you want to request one campaign for all participating countries and another one for all remaining countries again? For the former, it seems that c:Commons:Wiki Loves Folklore 2025/Organize has the most up-to-date list. But what are your expectations? Will many more show up? It would make more sense to create the campaigns when it's more clear.
- Furthermore, do you plan separate campaigns again like the Bangladesh version last year? It would be helpful to have a list of such special campaigns in advance as well.
- Last year, we have kindly asked the organizers to motivate a volunteer to help out with setting up the campaign. Could you find a volunteer CentralNotice admin? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 20:26, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @DerHexer,
- Please we require 3 type of banners;
- 1 for signed up countries.
- 1 for all countries but which are not part of signed up countries.
- 1 for anonymous users.
- The list of the organisers is not fully complete since we are still sign up stage. It's start as the list will be completed before 1st February 2025. These are the types of banners we are requesting for at the moment. We have also nominated a volunteer and our technical lead Nokib Sarkar for central notice adminship. If he is selected he can help in the tasks. Link to his nomation can be found here: Meta:Requests for CentralNotice adminship/Nokib Sarkar#Nokib Sarkar. –– Joris Darlington Quarshie (talk) 17:03, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Joris Darlington Quarshie and Nokib Sarkar:
- Thanks, I have prepared the campaigns as follows:
- countries campaign and banner (preview)
- non-countries campaign and banner (preview)
- anon campaign and banner (preview)
- Uruguay: CentralNotice/Request/Wiki Fiestas de Uruguay
- Bangladesh: CentralNotice/Request/Wiki Loves Folklore Bangladesh 2025
- Ukraine: CentralNotice/Request/Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 Ukraine
- As of now, the anon campaign and non-anon campaigns only slightly differ in amount of display per days/weeks. Do you plan to have different landing pages for these groups? Because in previous years there was no difference for anonymous users. Please updates the accordingly or ping me for that
- Furthermore, please update the list of countries (adding new participating countries to the country campaign and removing them from the non-country campaign) whenever possible and before February at the latest; I can also help with this, please ping me here as well.
- All in all, does this look okay to you? Do you want me to enable the campaigns? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 13:34, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- @DerHexer, thanks for the work. We will like to request just a change of image for the banners as we are using same images from past few years now. The updated banner is below with the same dimensions and different images. Post image change we are good to go and enable the banners.

- Hello @DerHexer, can we request a seperate campaign for Bangladesh this year also, as you mentioned in your first message above? -- BIDROHI Hello.. 18:38, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- P.S. This is the landing page for the national campaign of Bangladesh. -- BIDROHI Hello.. 18:40, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Sure. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:42, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm not sure if I'm writing in the right place, but we would like to activate CentralNotice in Turkish Wikipedia. There was one already done for Wiki Loves Earth, like this one here. Can you help us? Kurmanbek 💬 20:30, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for writing at the central notice page. Admins at central notice will do the needful. Thank you for organizing. Pinging @Nokib Sarkar: :) Tiven2240 (talk) 04:48, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

- Hi @DerHexer and @Tiven2240 I prepared the WLF campaign for Hungary with all the necessary pages, translations and settings, and I planned to move Hungary from the "non-countries campaign" to the "countries campaign" (I believed that the latter is for the locally participating countries, while the former is for all other countries). But I realized that all three banners (countries, non-countries, anon) point to the same international page, and I couldn't find any practical difference between the codes. If there is a local project for a participating country with a local landing page, why does the banner not link to that page? And why do we have three campaigns for the three identical banners (even though the impression diet is somehow different)? Am I missing something? :) Samat (talk) 18:22, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Samat: Afaics, you don't miss something. I have noted this earlier. However, you can request a separate campaign on CNR as it was done for the campaign of Uruguay (see above), with a separate landing page or whatever needed, and I will mention the separate campaign here as well. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:29, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- @DerHexer I thought this is a problem for all participating countries, but apparently this is not the case. How does the local campaigns work for the other countries? (For example in the category for submissions from Germany there are thousands of images, while in the Hungarian category there is none.) If I click on the banner and I use the setting for Hungarian language surface, I am redirected to the translated international page, but on that page the link to upload an image (which is not obvious to find and not very international with the image with English text) point to the
wlf_2025
campaign and not the local ones (wlf-de
orwlf-hu
). What should I change to make it work for Hungary? (Not necessarily with a separate CN campaign.) Thank you! Samat (talk) 13:40, 5 February 2025 (UTC)- My idea was to change the coded link to a localized one here:
link=//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:UploadWizard&campaign=wlf_2025
. But I wanted to discuss it first (and I don't have access to edit :)) Samat (talk) 13:48, 5 February 2025 (UTC)- I'm not involved in the technical settings of the landing page and uploads. Please reach out to the organizing team. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 15:04, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Samat will connect with you regarding the same on your talkpage. --Tiven2240 (talk) 15:08, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- FYI: After some discussions, I created the request and a separate campaign for the Hungarian language. Let me know if you see any problem. Thanks! Samat (talk) 22:18, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
