I am Abubakar Ali, also known as Gwanki, a dedicated volunteer in the Wikimedia movement since 2013. As an administrator on Hausa Wikipedia, I am passionate about advancing free knowledge and promoting the representation of African languages and cultures on Wikimedia platforms. My work focuses on training new contributors, preserving oral histories, and fostering gender equity through innovative projects. I have received recognition for my contributions, including the Best Indigenous Language Contributor of the Year Award at WikiConference Nigeria 2024. My goal is to empower communities, enhance local content, and ensure African perspectives are well-represented in the global knowledge ecosystem.
