I have a problem and I have no idea where to go for help

I was recently autoblocked for being a proxy on https://uncyclopedia.ca

The exact message is this:

Your username or IP address has been automatically blocked by MediaWiki. The reason given is:

Your IP address is listed as an open proxy in the SORBS DNSBL. Too bad for you. Ha!

Here is proof that this autoblock is invalid:

https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=User:DarklitShadow&action=history

I have also contacted an admin on https://uncyclopedia.co (the previous fork of uncyclopedia) for assistance.

DarklitShadow (talk) 04:34, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

@DarklitShadow: This page is for asking help from Meta admins. Uncyclopedia isn't a Wikimedia project. Meta admins cannot help you with it nor any other Wikimedia project admins can. -- CptViraj (talk) 05:22, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

I require clarifation here. If the message tells me that I'm automatically blocked for being a proxy, wouldn't that mean I shouldn't be able to log in and type this?

DarklitShadow (talk) 17:40, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

As said above, this page is only for assistance required at Meta-wiki, so we can't help you here. Also, uncyclopedia.co is not a Wikimedia project so you should ask help in some other website than here. Stryn (talk) 17:55, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Garam

This user has put personal attack on their user page so I removed them. Then he put it once again, at rev 19983112 (Korean). I removed it once again at rev 20044497. They reverted so I reverted with the warning that they may be blocked. They put it again here and Billinghurst removed it once again. Now they've put it in Thai, which translates to the same meaning in English. (Google translate them.) Either their userpage needs to be protected, or be blocked for lack of Civility and ignorance of our policy and guidelines.

Since they've opened a Babel discussion at Meta:Babel#Request for comment accusing me of cyber-bullying, I'd rather not handle it, and leave it to neutral 3rd party admins to handle it. — regards, Revi 13:09, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Semi-protection of WikiJunior/fr

Hi, is it possible to semi-protect this official page that should not be edited anymore? It is part of WikiJunior project on course with Wikimedia France and may be soon formalized. That is why an important traffic is planned through this page and the risk of degradation high. Thanks for your help. Yours, --AB Louis (talk) 09:36, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Not done We do not protect pages preemptively. When the page became high traffic / high risk and / or (depending) there are lots of vandalism, we will do the necessary. Best, Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 08:21, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Request for global lock of vandalism-only user + protection on meta

Hello, there's a vandalism-only account bullying both Lomita and me cross-wiki. I asked for a global lock yesterday and it hasn't been done : https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Steward_requests/Global&diff=prev&oldid=20166053

Privacy policy violation at Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal

Hi,

I have noticed that the fully protected page Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal runs a script that:

  • makes edits on my behalf without informing me
  • publicly shares the information that I visited this specific page at this specific time from this specific account (and it does the same for IPs).

More details on Talk:Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal#Privacy.

This is a blatant violation of Privacy policy, as we can neither make edits on someone's behalf without notice nor publicly track their page views. As the page is fully protected, I cannot fix the problem myself, and the problem is bad enough that it cannot wait until WMF staff deploys a fix. An action from a sysop to deploy a fix is thus needed. Thanks — NickK (talk) 16:37, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Alternatively (for interface admins) a fix can be deployed directly to MediaWiki:Gadget-arpQueryForm.js (which is a default gadget, activated even for my bot that never edited Meta) — NickK (talk) 16:45, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
Pending clarification, out of caution, removed the script from gadget. Tracker has been removed. — regards, Revi 17:20, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

All trackers disabled! ✅ --DAlangi (WMF) (talk) 18:31, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
@NickK: I believe that this has now been resolved? Please advise. --TheSandDoctor Talk 22:51, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
@TheSandDoctor and DAlangi (WMF): No, it was not. One of the two trackers is still in MediaWiki:Gadget-arpQueryForm.jsNickK (talk) 00:12, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
I am wondering if the OC should be notified. This has apparently been in development since late March and represents a gross lack of understanding of the Privacy Policy. If volunteers are held accountable for violating the Privacy Policy, WMF staff should be as well. --Rschen7754 00:25, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
I'm baffled as to how it was thought this was a legitimate method of tracking participation. I suggest that the Wikimedia Foundation consider mandatory Privacy Policy training for their employees to prevent issues happening in the future in a larger scale. Vermont (talk) 01:41, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

It is everyone's job to maintaincivility at this site, not the task of an administrator. [Administrators have the function to enforce consensus of the community, and that is only through the use of blocks and protection]. I don't think there is any requirement for an administrator to involve themselves.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:54, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Request for a mass mailing

Hello, colleagues! Would you kindly help us to deliver a message to Wikimedia Affiliate Communities?

Here are the details:

Mailing list: Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos/Distribution list (Target communities)

Subject of mass mailing: Invitation to participate in the upcoming WPWP Campaign

Content of mass mailing: Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos/Invitation to participate in WPWPCampaign

Requested delivery date: ASAP

CC @Romaine:

Thanks for your help. With best regards, Deborahjay (talk) 20:04, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

@Deborahjay: I am not understanding. You have a list of communities added, and then there is a list of people; and all added by one person. If we are talking about sending information to WP VPs/community portals, then wouldn't an existing list be used? If you are looking for an ongoing list for communication then such a list would be expected to be opt-in. Not making sense to me at the moment.  — billinghurst sDrewth 23:04, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
I apologize for the confusion, billinghurst. I compiled this list so I thought I should respond. We decided to send to VPs/community portals of selected active Wikipedia and local coordinators of the WPWP Campaigns. But if this is confusing, we can send to the distribution list or any similar existing list. Thank you for your help. T CellsTalk 06:03, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
Hi billinghurst, we have trimmed our distribution list to includes only our targeted VPs/community portals. Thank you for your help. T CellsTalk 22:50, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
@Deborahjay and T Cells: I have no issue granting rights to send to that list. Whilst we have your attention, I would point you to Global message delivery/Targets and its subpages for what currently exists, and what others are doing. This is quite important if you are planning on continuing sending messages to a self-subscription list as ideally we change the list compilation via Special:ChangeContentModel.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:04, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
... and of course I am hoping that you have read through MassMessage.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:06, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
Yes, billinghurst, we have read through MassMessage and we have seen Global message delivery/Targets and its subpages for what currently exists, and what others are doing. Thank you. We appreciate your help. T CellsTalk 06:11, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

Board elections page move

Not completely sure what happened here, but it seems that when Meta:Proposed_page_moves/Archives/2013#Board_elections_to_Wikimedia_Foundation_Board_elections was resolved, the move was done by a non-admin bot while one particular page was move-protected, so the talk pages and all associated pages were moved while the one mainspace page wasn't. MassMessage

I'd like to get massmessage sender for one month with the purpose of sending messages in this list about the Spanish Wikivoyage Contest (grant request) and other stuffs from our user group. Thanks in advance, --Galahad (sasageyo!)(esvoy) 07:34, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

Closure of RFCs

Maybe someone could have a look whether Meta:Requests for comment/Meta admin ~riley is abusing power and Meta:Requests for comment/Admin Billinghurst is abusing power - limiting editing my userpage for no reason could be closed. I think they can be, they are not active anymore and really never have attracted many comments. I have commented on the former to understand what the issue actually is supposed to be, but I failed to understand it. Hence I'm not closing them myself. But it seems a bit stupid for these two admins to have "open" RFCs with their name in them when nobody except the opener of the RFC is thinking that they are "abusing power". --MF-W 19:12, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Thinking that that account should be blocked temporarily from editing the whole site, I think... 58.177.90.87 02:37, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

I also don't understand what those two RfC are for. Casting aspersions? I find the usage of words related to criminal procedure, such as wikt:indictment rather problematic. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:16, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
