Modify Abuse Filter 150

Hi, I would like to request that the group "patroller" be added to the list of exceptions of the filter 150 since only this content "autopatrolled","bot","sysop" (the "autopatrolled" lose the permission once they become "patroller"). A while ago I had problems with problems to properly archive my talk page for this. Thanks. —AlvaroMolina ( - ) 17:13, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

Done @AlvaroMolina: should be good now. — xaosflux Talk 17:33, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

Request for MassMessage Tool

Hi there ! I'm a member of Wikimedia Nepal and MWUG. I would like to request for MassMessage because I'm actively involved in events and need to catch participants globally. Right now, I'm involved in Wikiproject Data-a-thon 2018. I've already used the local MassMessage tool at newiki (logs) but it will good if can reach to participants at Wikidata or Meta-wiki or somewhere else. I'm bit experienced using this global tool (logs). Thanks for your consideration. Feel free to ask any question ! — Tulsi Bhagat (talk) 10:49, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

Request for MassMessage Tool

Hi everyone! I'm part of the UX-team of Wikimedia Germany and we would like to invite feedback and participation in the design of our products. Messages we want to send would e.g. concern requests for feedback on prototypes or participation in (remote) usability tests. We expect to send on average one to two messages a month to people who sign up. The closest to this idea might be the Structured Data for Commons Focus Group. The people who would like to be able to send messages would be me, Jan and Hanna (in order of priority, should the rights not be passed to 3 new people). Thank you for your consideration and I'm happy to answer any questions. Best, --Charlie Kritschmar (WMDE) (talk) 13:12, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

@Charlie Kritschmar (WMDE): a few questions. Have any of you ever used this utility (perhaps under another account?) How will the recipients be enrolled for mailings? (Do you have a mailing list page started yet?). — xaosflux Talk 13:57, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: @Charlie Kritschmar (WMDE): We never used the utility. However, in case there are concerns in regards to our experience, we did the following in preparation: We consulted with Lea Lacroix (WMDE), who has experience in working with Mass Messages and who would would look over our shoulders for our first messages. We also have other colleges who could help in case Lea is not available.
In Regards to the mailing list page: We did not create the sign-up page yet (if it helps you, or is best practice, we can create it). We want to model our sign-up based on Structured Data for Commons Focus Group (since our usage will be similar) and would consult SandraF (WMF) in case we have questions on how to replicate their setup. --Jan Dittrich (WMDE) (talk) 14:45, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
Done @Charlie Kritschmar (WMDE): let's start with you on this - once you get it going we can add more users as needed. I created you a mailing list shell at User:Charlie Kritschmar (WMDE)/ListShell, you can move it to where ever you want it to be. — xaosflux Talk 00:05, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Yay! Thank you for the quick handling and for setting up the mailing list shell :D --Charlie Kritschmar (WMDE) (talk) 13:59, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

request for revision deletion

I am attempting to close out my involvement with an LTA investigation and response, and wrote a summary of the history on Talk:Steward requests/Checkuser. As part of this, I tested if two web sites were blacklisted. There was nothing improper about this, and the mentions would not be expected to lead to doxxing information unless someone is truly searching for it, in which case they could find it much easier with Google, it's all over the internet.

Nevertheless, it was not my intention that those site links remain, and I blanked them, but the sock master, or someone mysteriously imitating him, using IP local to him, is complaining about the diff and revert warring to remove the entire discussion. To reduce disruption, I am here requesting hiding that single edit (the one before this diff that shows the blanking). There is no doxxing in the rest, even by some remote imagination.

Any other response to the massive socking by this IP, beyond the IPs already blocked today for obvious revert warring on removal, or the range, is up to local administrators here. Stewards have so far declined to address it. --Abd (talk) 20:40, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Resolved. Abd is banned by the WMF

Query regarding MassMessage

Tracked in Phabricator:
Task T188014

Hi there, I've done MassMessage at "dty.wikipedia.org" but actually it didn't worked. You can see the log here [Log -> 04:09, 22 February 2018 Tulsi Bhagat (talk | contribs) sent a message to User:Tulsi Bhagat/Mass Message Users List (विकी कार्यशाला नेपाल)]. Please let me know, if I've mistaken or something wrong with the tool. Thanks for your consideration. — Tulsi Bhagat (talk) 14:20, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

@Tulsi Bhagat: some of those pages don't actually exist, and MassMessage won't create a page. For the most part, messages should be targeted to the "User talk" namespace as well, not "User". — xaosflux Talk 15:02, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
@Xaosflux and Tulsi Bhagat: Not quite that I'd say. MassMessage automatically converts User to User talk; but dty:Special:Contributions/MediaWiki message delivery not existing on dtywiki is the reason this tool isn't working I'd say. I'll do some tests and will open a ticket if I cannot get the tool to work there. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 16:45, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
Okay so I think I've found the issue and is that this page was imported from maiwiki resulting in MediaWiki message delivery being added to the history. It shouldn't fail though as system accounts usually are allowed to "steal" their own usernames. I'll ask Legoktm if renaming that account locally to free the username would fix the issue. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 16:52, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
Yep, it seems the most probable cause. Trying to do the same locally results in [Wo72rApAMFQAAHYJKwsAAABG] 2018-02-22 16:58:20: Excepción grave de tipo "UnexpectedValueException". I'll file a Task. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 16:59, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Page protection request

Greetings, I request semi-protection for IMLD-ODD 2018 Wikidata India Edit-a-thon. It is the main event page of an ongoing campaign, is being constantly vandalized. Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talkmail) 05:28, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

@Krishna Chaitanya Velaga: I added a month of semi-protection to it. — xaosflux Talk 05:45, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Thanks. Please protect this as well IMLD-ODD 2018 Wikidata India Edit-a-thon/Participants. Even though it is the participants page, this campaign is not focused on editor recruitment, but only on content improvement. If any editor is extremely interested he can start making edits and then add their name. Also "autoconfirmed" in the sense, on Meta-Wiki, or on any Wiki? Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talkmail) 05:50, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
@Krishna Chaitanya Velaga: it is autoconfirmed on meta (meaning you have had an account for 4 days here), we try to avoid protection when unnecessary here - have there been problems on that other page? — xaosflux Talk 05:56, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: The participants list is being constantly vandalized by new users, sometimes breaking the sections, removing the instructions can also be observed. Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talkmail) 06:00, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
@Krishna Chaitanya Velaga: I placed a 2 day semi protection on it for right now, your directions have a call to action to sign that page - how do expect people to do that if they can't edit it? we can not take in to account edit status on other projects for protection on meta. — xaosflux Talk 13:39, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Considering editors knowledge about Wikidata, they would obviously had an for at least one month or so, so they'll be able to sign. Anyways, two days is good enough. Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talkmail) 14:00, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Request for FileUploader from now until June 2018

Hi

I would like to upload some images to Meta for an event I am running with UNESCO called Wiki4Women that I am not able to upload to Commons. We want to add the logos of funders of the event (a foundation and some government delegations) to the pages but the logos are not available under open license so will need to be uploaded under fair use to Meta.

Thanks

John Cummings (talk) 15:42, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

Not done @John Cummings: meta: does not support Non-free content (see last RfC). — xaosflux Talk 16:06, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the message @Xaosflux:, can you suggest an alternative? Having recognition of their contribution to the project is really important. John Cummings (talk) 18:11, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
@John Cummings: the only issue above is related to logos. Some logos may pass commons:'s commons:Commons:Threshold of originality test and be allowed (such as the Facbook and Tumblr logos). For others you can do most whatever you want with text (e.g. colorizing, fonts), and you could put them in a "Thank You box" etc with background colors/borders/what not and just put their organization names in it, or make a page for them. Some examples from other events : WikiConference India 2016/Sponsors, WikiWomenCamp/Sponsors_and_Logistics. — xaosflux Talk 18:35, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
