Edit-a-thon "Women at the Macedonian front"

[edit]

Wikimedia MKD is always striving to celebrate equality, social and cultural values and promote the idea of diversity. Decreasing the gender gap regarding Wikipedia content and its related project has been one of the key focuses of the organization's efforts. Like previous years, Wikimedia MKD organized an edit-a-thon on 7 March 2024 on the topic "Women at the Macedonian front", which it celebrates the International Women's Day with.

The event was attended by 12 members of the Wiki Club from the "Josip Broz-Tito" High School in Skopje, who, under the mentorship of history professor Irena Trajkovska Stejrovska, came to the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle. Educator Ana Vishinova gave a lecture on significant women in Macedonian history. The lecture served as inspiration for the participants, which was followed by joint editing of articles related to the topic.

The end result of this editing marathon is 10 newly created articles on Wikipedia.

You can see how it went through the photographic material uploaded on Commons, but also some of the photos are bellow:

Edit-a-thon "Get to know Slovenia" results

[edit]

Wikimedia MKD continuously organizes editorial marathons in order to enrich the Macedonian language Wikipedia with quality and accessible information. Through these events, volunteers and Wiki Club members actively contribute to free knowledge, covering various topics from culture, history, geography, and many other areas.

The editorial marathon "Get to know Slovenia" took place from 1 February 2025 to 28 February 2025. The project was organized by the Wikimedia MKD in cooperation with the Slovenian Center - Skopje, supported by Slovenian embassy in Skopje. The main goal was to reduce the lack of content related to Slovenia on the Macedonian-language Wikipedia. Participation in the editorial marathon were simple and has only a few basic rules:

  • The participant had to be a member of one of the Wiki Clubs in Macedonia.
  • The article written had to be on a topic related to Slovenia.
  • The article had to be new.

The top five participants will be awarded with special prizes and diplomas, which will be awarded during the month of April at a ceremonial event in Skopje. The prizes are provided by the Slovenian Center in cooperation with the Embassy of Slovenia in Skopje. So the results are as follows:

A total of 50 users participated and 645 articles were written.
