Notice about SRM

The archive page for January is /2023-01, not /2023-1. As I don't have the right to edit archives please move it for me, and fix the bot. Thingofme (talk) 04:03, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Also you should add the header for each archives. Thingofme (talk) 14:48, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Order of sections in SR* archive

Hi Taavi, for the archive page Steward_requests/Global_permissions/2023-01, sections are placed in a strange order (compared to 2022-12's). In the past JarBot will create a blank page contains only subtitles, but now it was locked. Would you mind adding the "create blank archive page" feature in MajavahBot? Thanks. Mastodon

Hi Taavi, I was wondering if I could get an invite for the Wikis World Mastodon Server. Many thanks in advance for my request.--Owula kpakpo (talk) 08:07, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

@Owula kpakpo Sure, I've sent you an email with an invite link. Taavi (talk!) 08:52, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

MajavahBot down

Hello, Taavi!

My homewiki (SqWiki) relies on MajavahBot for all its archival processes. It has been down since August 2022 and the lack of its work is really starting to be felt on high traffic pages such as our village pump. Any way to get it back? Klein Muçi (talk) 14:31, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

@Klein Muçi Hey! I finally took the time to look at the issue and fixed it. The bot is now working normally. Sorry it took so long! Taavi (talk!) 11:22, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I was really glad to see it back to work now. Maybe not now but can the bot me made to understand resolved templates? Take a look at these kind of pages:

__ARCHIVEDTALKPAGE__ was added as a new magic word. Can MajavahBot add that automatically to new and existing archives now? — Klein Muçi (talk) 09:48, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
@Klein Muçi I would add that to sq:Stampa:Arkivi, that way you don't have to modify the content of each individual talk page. Taavi (talk!) 14:05, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
Elegant solution. Thank you! — Klein Muçi (talk) 14:30, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

Create an account for Wikipedia in french

Hello, I would like to be authorized to create the account @wikipedia_fr/Wikipédia en français in the wikis.world Mastodon. What do you think ? Regards  Manjiro5💬 06:09, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Manjiro5:, sorry for the delay in replying, Taavi had asked me to do so and I didn't get around to it until now. Having a dedicated French account would be great! Have you spoken with the French Wikipedia community about this? We'd like to make sure that they are supportive of the effort and are okay with the people running it.
I would also suggest as an alternative, helping with posting French-language content on the multilingual @Wikipedia account. Would you be interested in that? Legoktm (talk) 04:02, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

This is me.

Hi @Taavi, This is TheAafi this side. Following up from our conversation on Telegram. Best regards, ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 15:56, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

This section was archived on a request by: ─ The Aafī (talk) 16:33, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

Mistake

The bot weirdly removed open discussions and Global rename requests part from Steward requests/Global permissions that I have just reverted. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 06:00, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

while most archiving on SRGP works fine [1], this is not the first time this happened [2][3][4][5] – seems to occur especially when requests for GS/GR/GN permissions are marked as done -> many of the following open sections somehow get archived as well.
Seems like the Bot has some problems with {{sr-closed}}? [6] There are no problems when archiving 2FA or IPBE requests, which just get marked as done without this template. Johannnes89 (talk) 06:42, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
No, actually this was caused by some malformed signatures Special:Diff/25225484 which confuses mwparserfromhell (the library my bots use to parse the pages) into thinking it's only archiving the closed section and not the other open ones. Taavi (talk!) 07:01, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

It worked. Thanks. -- Cimon Avaro (talk) 18:02, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

MajavahBot

Hello, in this edit, the bot appears to have forgotten to add a "Robot clerk note" to the section titled Global lock for [[User:横手美里コスミック|横手美里コスミック]], just marking it as done and archiving it the very next edit. ~~~~

On another note, it appears to have added the relevant message to a different spot, in the archive. ~~~~

SRG

For the requests marked as done, can we clear them off as soon as 1 hour? I'm fine leaving the notdone, but there is no sense in keeping them on the board with this level of backlog. -- Amanda (she/her) 00:29, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Strong oppose Archiving "not done" ones is a lot less problematic because there was no steward action involved to discuss, and the account can just be re-reported if necessary, but "done" requests are a lot more difficult to get a response on once archived. Sorry, but with this level of backlog I'm pretty sure the issue is not fixed with a change in archiving time when stewards' response time is actually orders of magnitude less consistent. ~~~~

Agreed. I feel the backlog is mainly due to having too many "bad" SRG reports that take stewards time to confirm before taking action (vague reason, unspecified LTA, does not seem like clear-cut cases). We should find ways to minimize them, like adding editnotices (Such discussion can be continued at Talk:SRG)? A change in archiving time does not solve the problem. 94rain Talk 05:58, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, I wasn't trying to solve the SRG backlog with this, just how much I have to scroll through to begin with to deal with the backlog. If there is opposition, I have no problem leaving that. -- Amanda (she/her) 07:59, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
