Requests for new languages

Greetings Pathoschild,

All the relevant Interface system messages for Gan Wikipedia have already been translated as of today. --Jose77 23:14, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

I was notified as early as November 5th here. It is hoped that the Final Approval process will be shortened this time.

Regards, --Jose77 23:20, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello Jose77. The final requirement left to meet is an active test project; there are currently no editors whatsoever (see an analysis). —{admin} Pathoschild 23:44:10, 06 November 2007 (UTC)
It is now active once again. --Jose77 08:28, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Pathoschild, could you please update the analysis of Gan wikipedia here? I wanna have a look of our work, thanks! --Symane 10:07, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

The status page is updated at Language subcommittee/Status/wp-gan. Sorry for the delay; I was away over December, and have a lot of tasks to catch up on. —{admin} Pathoschild 01:44:23, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Pathoschild, could you please take a look at the request for a Low Saxon Wikisource? The request is from April (the first request on wikisource.org from pre-language-committee-times even from October 2006). Would be nice, if the project could start some time.

prerequisites for conditional approval
yes. Wikisource is an existing project and a nds language version of it does not yet exist. The proposal is to open a new language edition of an existing Wikimedia project that does not already exist (see the complete list of Wikimedia projects).
yes. The code is nds. The language should have a valid ISO-639 1–3 code (search).
yes. There are Low Saxon Wikipedia, Wiktionary and Wikibooks too. Some people would contest the fact of Low Saxon being sufficiently unique and want to include Low Saxon content on German Wikisource. But they wouldn't accept Low Saxon being used in discussions. And Low Saxon content would be divided, cause only Low Saxon from Germany fits the German Wikisource. Low Saxon from the Netherlands would have to go to the Dutch Wikisource then. The wish to include Low Saxon on German Wikisource is more about territory and politics than language. Even if others won't accord with me about this, it is obvious, that Low Saxon couldn't coexist on the German project, cause it would be restricted to content, other uses of the language wouldn't be accepted. The language must be sufficiently unique that it could not coexist on a more general wiki. In most cases, this excludes regional dialects and different written forms of the same language.
yes. Exact numbers are unknown, but it is still a language spoken by more than a million people. The proposal has a sufficient number of living native speakers to form a viable community and audience. If the proposal is for an artificial language such as Esperanto, it must have a reasonable degree of recognition as determined by discussion.
prerequisites for final approval
yes. The test project (on wikisource.org) has more than 400 entries. There is an active test project on the Incubator wiki.
yes. It was translated for the existing Low Saxon Wikipedia. There are localization files available in that language.

The Language proposal policy says: At least five active users must edit that language regularly before a test project will be considered successful. I have to admit, this (five active users ... regularly) is not the case. There are only three contributors to Wikisource who are active Low Saxon contributors until now. But I must say, that this criterion is a very hard one. It is not likely that any project in a lesser-used language will ever met this criterion in short time. Especially if it is about one of the "minor" projects. Wikipedia is well known, but its sister projects are not. Finding contributors for a not-yet-existing and not-well-known project in a lesser-used language is a very, very hard job. So, I hope this will not be considered a neck-breaker for the project by the language subcommittee. The whole thing is about "creating" projects, not preventing them, isn't it? I am sure, the project will develop and grow in the future and shall become a very useful resource. Perhaps not tomorrow, perhaps not next week, but it will be no "dead" project. --::Slomox:: >< 15:34, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

The project just got conditional approval from Bèrto 'd Sèra. I hope it will go its way now ;-) --::Slomox:: >< 10:17, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

We just completed the translation of the MediaWiki-interface in Saterland Frisian; there are zero untranslated messages on BetaWiki. Could you please update your statistics? Thank you! Maartenvdbent 21:11, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

The project has been approved. —{admin} Pathoschild 01:50:25, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Pathoschild can you take a look at the requests for Wikiversity Swedish 2. It was be nice if the project be created soon.

  • Initial criteria
check that the project does not already exist (see list).
obtain an ISO 639 code (sv).
ensure the requested language is sufficiently unique that it could not exist on a more general wiki.
ensure that there are a sufficient number of native speakers of that language to merit an edition in that language.
  • Final criteria
    develop an active test project.
complete MediaWiki interface in that language (list, about localization).
    final approval.

Max sonnelid 09:22, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello. The status page lists the requirements. The requesters only need to translate 19 messages for the localization requirement, then have an active test project. —{admin} Pathoschild 04:07:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
The Wikimedia extensions is translated. M.M.S. 17:38, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
I've added it to the list of requests waiting for analysis on the language subcommittee talk page. The analysis script requires access to Wikimedia Deutch's SQL servers, which are temporarily disabled due to an upgrade problem. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:21:22, 02 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Pathoschild! About Wikipedia in Sassarese language, we've passed 80% of mediawiki software localization (health status "good"), where remain approximately 300 messages in great measure for sysop and exif-; it worked 3 translators and it doesn't appear any obsolete or problematic message. There are always original applicant, although with minor activity seen the traslation work, and others attend the activation of the domain sdc.wikipedia.org. If all the criterias was reached, we might start these holidays.

Thanks, --Felisopus Talk to me 15:40, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello. The status page lists the status of the request. Currently, the only remaining requirement is an active test project (automated statistics). —{admin} Pathoschild 04:11:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Pathoschild! I have a few questions before doing a new request for Karakalpak Wikipedia. We've translated more than 65% of interface and created 100 articles. Is is important how many people take part in creating articles or translated? Or how many people minimum must be interested in creation of wiki? In our case now we have only 3 contributors working actively, but I'm sure soon the number of active users increase. I'm doing now promoting works. Do we have a chance to be approved by the committee with these 3 contributors or we should do a request only when we have more community. Thanks in advance, Atabek 12:10, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Atabek. Yes, activity is judged based on many factors including number of regular editors, number of edits, new pages created, amount of content created, and (perhaps the most important) how regular the activity is. We need enough to help ensure that the project won't lose momentum if one of the editors stops editing, and to ensure that there is an administrator and community available at least once daily. As a general rule, three regular editors (making a dozen or so edits per month) is a minimum. —{admin} Pathoschild 01:52:09, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Pathoschild! I wanted to ask you, what percent of localization messages must be translated before committee finally approves the Wiki? We have already translated 1136 messages of total 1730 (65.7%), also [1] MediaWiki messages (mostly used) is done. Is this translation enough for now, or we should translate some specific group messages, if yes couldn't you call them? Because in [2] page, complete MediaWiki interface in that language section isn't crossed out. Thanks in advance, Atabek 08:12, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi. I've been waiting for response one week, maybe you have no time, but couldn't you give a quick answer. Thanks in advance, Atabek 04:02, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Hello. Sorry for the delay. Under the new rules implemented a few days ago, you only need to translate the first category listed on the status page (since this is the first Karakalpak project). As such, the localization requirement is completed. The only requirement left to complete is an active test project. —{admin} Pathoschild 04:17:28, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Limburgish localization

Everuthing has been translated: http://translatewiki.net/w/?title=Special%3ATranslate&task=untranslated&group=core&language=li&limit=100 --OosWesThoesBes 09:51, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello OosWesThoesBes. The localization rules have recently been changed; this is good news for most requests (those for first wikis in a language), but unfortunately bad news for requests for subsequent wikis like Limburgish. Under the new rules, second wikis must translate 100% of the messages listed on the status pages.
Fortunately, Limburgish is only missing 6 MediaWiki messages and 288 extension messages, so it's not too bad. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 12:08:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Extremaduran interface

Hi! i've seen you've updated extremaduran status, but.... at the momment, interface is almost translated (there are only 208 untraslated sentences, many of them are translated, but with the word "!!FUZZY!!", and a lot, don't have a translation/i don't know how to translate them (but... well, interface is translated in a 88.78%). I hope you will change this to let extremaduran wiki being aproved. Thank you, and happy new year! Better 193.146.163.4 11:10, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi... well, i've translated the two sentences, the most used mediawiki messages are already translate: the other 8 sentences have no translation in extremaduran. If you could update again the status... Thank you! Better 09:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I've proposed the project for final approval. If all goes well, the Extremaduran Wikipedia will be added to the next batch of wikis that will be created in a few weeks. Thank you for your patience and efforts. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 12:08:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Jesse, to continue our correspondence in the mail list, if I could be helpful for anything related to incubator, I am happy to put my efforts in it. My understanding is that the script generating the statistics is ready and working.--Yaroslav Blanter 14:07, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Yaroslav. Thank you for the offer of help, but the new script automates most of the tasks related to the Incubator. We're particularly in need of users to notify us when requests need to be updated or decided, or to help answer questions on Talk:Language subcommittee. If you're interested, feel free to start any time. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 18:13:09, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

When will this wikinews start? --ZuzuPetas 21:12, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

It's being discussed now. We must notify the Board of Trustees four days before approval, so it will probably be approved within a week. After that, it depends entirely on the developers who create wikis; since they do it in batches, it can take several weeks before an approved wiki is created. That delay is unfortunately outside the subcommittee's control. —{admin} Pathoschild 03:58:26, 09 January 2008 (UTC)

re: Archival permission

Hello Michael,

I am the archivist for the language subcommittee. You sent a message to the subcommittee on December 3rd 2007, also available to you in OTRS ticket#2007120310004099. Discussion with the subcommittee is regularly copied to a public archive for transparency. Since you have not agreed to archival, your messages are currently replaced with the message "<this user has not agreed to public archival>".

Do you agree to archival? Even if you agree to public archival, you can mark any email or comment as private and the message will be replaced by an appropriate note to that effect. The archives can be edited at any time to remove a message you forgot to mark as private.

Thanks. —{admin} Pathoschild 22:41:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi, in general I'm fine with my messages to LangCom being archived publicly. However, in this case I merely forwarded an OTRS message and thus I cannot give permission for this one, as OTRS emails are per se confidential. --> Principally, yes; in this case: no. --Mbimmler 14:57, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I haven't gotten archival permission from the user you're quoting (at least not yet), so your messages will be archived with the quoted portions censored. Would that be acceptable? —{admin} Pathoschild 20:49:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Why, yes, sure ;-) --Mbimmler 21:56, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Joining the language subcommittee

Hi Pathoschild! I want to be a member of the language subcommitee, how can I do for be a member. M.M.S. 18:50, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello M.M.S.. Membership in the language subcommittee requires particular expertise or community involvement, along with a heavy investment of time and effort. Debates can be dozens of pages long, and skipping long discussions will leave you unaware of recent decisions applicable to future discussions. Being a member of the subcommittee typically involves a great deal of debating, work, and discussing with the community and requesting users. After spending a significant portion of your free time doing all this work, you will typically be criticized by requesting users for not doing enough work fast enough. ;)
If you're still interested:
  • Are you active in the community, particularly on Wikimedia mailing lists or otherwise in cross-wiki coordination?
  • Do you have expertise relevant to linguistics, or have knowledge or skills particularly useful to the language subcommittee?
  • Do you have a unique viewpoint, such as being a member of a poorly-represented linguistic culture?
These are some pretty difficult requirements, but there are already a large number of members and work in the language subcommittee can be difficult and intimidating. I'm hoping to mentor people who joined the subcommittee several months ago and became inactive, and get them more active.
These are only suggested requirements, but I don't think you will be appointed without meeting at least one of them. Even if you decide not to apply after all, you are certainly welcome to help us maintain requests for new languages. For example, you can let us know of any requests that can be updated or approved, which will be very helpful in streamlining the process.
Given all the above information, are you still interested in becoming a member? —{admin} Pathoschild 07:32:03, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

re: Archival permission

Hello Marcus,

I am the archivist for the language subcommittee. You sent several messages to the language subcommittee on December 13th 2007 about the Low Saxon Wikisource request. Discussion with the subcommittee is regularly copied to a public archive for transparency. Since you have not agreed to archival, your messages are currently replaced with the message "<this user has not agreed to public archival>".

Do you agree to the public archival of all your emails? Even if you do agree, you can mark any email or comment as private and the message will be replaced by an appropriate note to that effect. The archives can be edited at any time to remove a message you forgot to mark as private.

Thanks. —Pathoschild 09:24:14, 23 Januar 2008 (UTC)

re: Archival permission

Hello Node,

I am the archivist for the language subcommittee. You sent a message to the language subcommittee on December 10th 2007 about the Moldovan Wikipedia.

Thanks. —{admin} Pathoschild 16:37:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Already exists a test project for wikiversity portuguese: here. I only want to say that the test project exists and it can't be placed in the Incubator. The page of the test project isn't on the unofficial analysis. I want that you put this page on unofficial analysis. sorry my English. Luckas13 18:57, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Fixed. Thank you for pointing this out. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:02:36, 04 February 2008 (UTC)

When will the test project analysis work? Luckas13 16:25, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

The analysis script requires access to Wikimedia Deutch's SQL servers, which are temporarily disabled due to an upgrade problem. The server administrators are actively working on it, and hopefully it will be fixed within the next few days. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:02:36, 04 February 2008 (UTC)

When will the project be approved? Luckas13 21:49, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Please see the Wikiversity Portuguese status page. The project needs to meet the requirement for an active test project (there does not seem to have been any significant activity since 2006). —{admin} Pathoschild 22:43:00, 06 February 2008 (UTC)
In the last two months the test project have been significant activity and why the analysis doesn't show the February 2008 edits? Luckas13 12:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
An editor is only considered active if they have at least 10 significant edits (not counting trivial edits like correcting a typo); this is why users with less than 10 edits are gray and struck out. Three active editors is generally the absolute minimum acceptable. The only user with more than ten edits in a recent month is not an editor of the test project and cannot read or write Portuguese.
The script uses data from Wikimedia Deutsch's SQL server, which was offline last week due to an upgrade problem. It is back online now, but the data is currently 11 days old until it catches up. —{admin} Pathoschild 22:59:36, 07 February 2008 (UTC)

The following discussion is closed.

I do like your thoughts (And there is now a new page for the discussion here). My question is I think rather like Larry - just how would you make it work I wonder? Equally I think my skills have changed with the experience I have had on Foundation sites - if I had not had some of those rights would I have gained some of the skills (rhetorical!). I'd almost question the request for "rights" aspect to a degree - recently I've personally seen my recent ones as an "offer to help" rather than anything else. Regards --Herby talk thyme 12:36, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, they're mostly called "rights" because that's the technical term. :) If my proposal seems like a good idea in theory, I'll put together a mockup request page sometime for you and others to see. —{admin} Pathoschild 17:50:42, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Here I am again ^^. I've implemented bot policy on bclwiki and jbowiki. On hiwiki you made the request a long time ago, local bureaucrat accepted the policy on 5 December with this edit (look at the summary). So I've added hiwiki in the list "Where it is policy". Well, now about me: I request bot flag for my bot on: bcl:User:AlleborgoBot, jbo:User:AlleborgoBot, xal:User:AlleborgoBot, rmy:User:AlleborgoBot. Thank you! --Alleborgo 12:29, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

AJAX transclusion table

Implementation

Screenshot

Hello, I suggest implementing the AJAX transclusion table script. This script adds a "[show]" or "[hide]" link to every row in tables with the "attable" class. Clicking the link will display the linked page below (see screenshots at right). No show/hide link will be shown in rows with no link to an existing local page (like heading rows).

This has several possible uses, such as Requests for new languages/table or User:Pathoschild/AJAX Welcome (translating templates without the need for the reader to download every version). If there's no objection, I'll add the following code to the site JavaScript, which will only call the full code if such a table is found on the page.

/*************
*** AJAX transclusion table <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Pathoschild/Scripts/AJAX_transclusion_table>
*** by [[m:user:Pathoschild]]
*************/
if(getElementsByClassName(document.getElementById('bodyContent'),'table','attable').length) {
	document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'

Could you please try explaining this again? The screenshot didn't help as much as I thought it would. How does this differ from normal show/hide behaviour done with divs? What are the disadvantages of doing this? ++Lar: t/c 12:56, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
The scripts you're referring to (NavFrame and Language select) hide parts of the current page, by adding or removing the CSS "display:none" declaration; browsers download the full text of the page, then make some of it invisible with CSS. The AJAX transclusion table serves a different purpose, dynamically displaying the contents of other pages. It doesn't download anything until the user selects what they want to view, then it downloads only that. This is useful for heavy request pages like Requests for new languages or w:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, but the same technique can be applied for many other purposes like displaying translations (without downloading every translation available), making lists of templates expandable into examples and documentation, et cetera.
So you can't accurately compare them, since they serve different purposes. That said, the AJAX script has some advantages:
  • Much faster loading: a transclusion table doesn't download any hidden content at all, but instead downloads content on demand. For example, using NavFrame or Language select on Requests for new languages would result in a 230KB page (with perhaps 4% of that actually being read by the user), while the AJAX table results in a 7.3KB page (96% smaller). You can see the difference that makes by visiting Requests for new languages (imagine it has show/hide links), then visiting Requests for new languages/table (imagine same).
  • Flexibility: The AJAX table can display any page on Meta (not only what is on the current page or template). For example, you could have a template with a list of help pages on your user page, so you can click "[show]" beside any page to quickly read it. I've seen templates on enwiki with "quick-reference" links to various templates; the "[show]" links on those templates would display the template with its documentation.
  • Ease-of-use: To create an AJAX transclusion table, you just add class="attable" to any normal table; any rows with links will have a new "[show]" link that displays the content of the row's first link. In contrast, NavFrames are very complicated to use (see example code).
{admin} Pathoschild 03:56:01, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
By the way, you can try it yourself by following the brief installation instructions and viewing Requests for new languages/table, which is an AJAX transclusion table. —{admin} Pathoschild 20:27:28, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Can one transclude a section? Hillgentleman 04:05, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
No, although that's a good idea to implement later. —{admin} Pathoschild 06:35:03, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
And transwiki-transclusion? How much time would it add to the page load? Hillgentleman 19:02, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Cross-domain JavaScript is typically blocked by most browsers, so transwiki transclusion isn't feasible at the moment. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:46:22, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Given that it can take weeks before most users see changes to the site JavaScript, I've implemented it now. We can remove it if serious objections appear in this discussion. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 20:02:33, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Translation template

The following discussion is closed.

Hi, thanks for the template, I have now two things I'd love to see fixed. Give a look to Template:Translation/Fundraising 2007/Thank you. The source page is a subpage, and [edit] link doesn't work well.

Also I think we need to add the second last status, "done" or "ready". Since some translation cannot be to said as published on meta. There we need a status which indicates "proofread done" & "not yet published in its proper space".

Can you please make them up? Thanks, and happy new year for 2008! --Aphaia 11:19, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Aphaia. Sorry for taking so long to answer; I was away over December, and I have a lot to catch up on.
The edit link wasn't working because the "page" field should be "Fundraising 2007/Thank you", not "Thank you"; it is the full title of the page being translated (the same title you would use to link to it). I corrected and updated the template, so it works now.
A status called "done" would be easy to add, but I'd prefer to keep the number of options to a strict minimum so it's as simple as possible to use for regular editors. Maybe we could rename "published" to "complete"? I'll talk to you on IRC about it next time I see you. —{admin} Pathoschild 03:14:04, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

No open proxies

The following discussion is closed.

Hi, can i suggest you to change a word in this page?

From:

  • Proxies are left open due to deliberate or inadvertent configuration or because hackers have changed the configuration

To

  • Proxies are left open due to deliberate or inadvertent configuration or because crackers have changed the configuration

In short you've to replace the word "hackers" with "crackers", because it's a better terminology..., i would appreciate if you can do it.

Thanks a lot. Bye!:)--Drugonot 17:50, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Drugonot. I assume you want the page to distinguish between malicious hackers specifically and hackers in general, but the page is written for the average reader who probably isn't aware of the difference between "hacker" and "cracker", but does (more or less) know the meaning of "hacker". "Hacker" is also a correct term to refer to both, and became popular before the neologism "cracker" was invented to distinguish them. —{admin} Pathoschild 03:41:35, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know. Unfortunately, the TitleBlacklist extension has been disabled for performance reasons, so we'll have to protect them individually after all. —{admin} Pathoschild 11:20:39, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I know, I am hoping they reenable it again though, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 11:46, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Sw-wiki

The following discussion is closed.

Hi Patho, saw you popping up at our place. Maybe you have an advice for us: we are a wiki with very few regular contributors. At the moment more or less 4 who are at it regularly and a few poppping up once in a while. We have a whole bunch of people who once strted the project and have since left - either because they lost interest or because they cannot cope any more with the language (I think a number of these smaller wikis was started by non-speakers who just felt there should be something in African languages..). Now, we have a list of people on our sysop list who just don`t show up any more. Better leave them or any way to clean up?

And a bit pressing: our only bureaucrat does not function any more. Thats why we have all those bots without flag. What to do about a inactive bureaucrat? sw:user:Kipala --78.49.52.138 07:38, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Kipala. Sysop and bureaucrat access are a matter of local consensus, so you can remove access from inactive users if there is a general agreement to do so. One large wiki with this kind of policy is the English Wikisource (see s:Wikisource:Administrators#Confirmation discussions).
Generally, having no active bureaucrat is not a problem until the wiki is much larger. You can hold votes or discussions for access on the wiki, then post a request on Requests for permissions or Requests for bot status. A steward (like myself) who has bureaucrat access on all wikis will do it for you, usually within 24 hours. —{admin} Pathoschild 07:55:58, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Board elections/2008/en

The following discussion is closed.

Hi Pathoschild:

I just wanted to call your attention to Board elections/2008/en and the conversation about it at [6]. I wonder if you would consider moving that page into your own personal userspace until an election committee is appointed? There seems to be a misunderstanding that it's an official election page, even though you have a disclaimer on it. Obviously, I'm speaking only as a community member (and an interested party as a former election committee member, but not a current one - since there's not a current committee!) and am just asking if you'd consider it as a courtesy. Many thanks in advance! Philippe 22:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello Philippe. I've made the disclaimer much more obvious, and further emphasized that it's not official. It would be difficult to edit it in my user space, since there are templates and many interlinks. —{admin} Pathoschild 23:42:04, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
I appreciate your changes. While my preference is still that it be moved, I understand your point as well and appreciate your willingness to accept the input. Philippe 00:27, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

I deleted it, since it's been tagged for deletion, unused, orphaned, and uncategorized (the categories don't exist) since May 2006, and the creator has been inactive since June 2007. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 16:20:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Categories

Hey Pathoschild, long time no see. I added [[Category:User templates]] to the Template:User language template. I noticed that there are not many templates in these categories so I'm wondering if there is such use for these actual category at all, or maybe your planning to delete these categories in the future? Yamamoto Ichiro 07:47, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey. Thanks for adding the category. No, there are no plans to delete the categories; Meta just has fewer user templates than the English Wikipedia. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:12:22, 04 February 2008 (UTC)

I think I met several times the same ... I am not sure if it comes from {{translation2}} but the "new template" seems to refer to it. Can you please bug it? --Aphaia 11:34, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

It can't be from the new template. That comment was posted in October 2007, but {{translation2}} was created in December 2007. If you see a broken link in the template anywhere, please let me know so I can debug it. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:15:54, 04 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. When was this change made? I was having some issues with that template in the past few months. When I tried to {{closed|text=Rogue deletion omg. ~~~}}, the deletion text would not show up. Was this due to the change made to the template? Nishkid64 (talk) 01:26, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

No change was made to the template yet. It seems to have worked for you. It would not work if you tried {{closed|Rogue deletion omg. ~~~}} (without "text=" or "1=") because your signature contains the "=" character, which breaks unnamed parameters. Do you think that's what you did? —{admin} Pathoschild 01:33:18, 05 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, Thanks!--Nick1915 - all you want 01:46, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that seems to be the cause of my issues. I had to change my signature around to get my closing rationales to appear. Nishkid64 (talk) 19:18, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
