Submission of draft Byelaws for review and adoption[edit]

During the monthly meeting of the Wikimedians of Kerala held on the 18th of November, 2023, it was decided to prepare the draft byelaws and submit the same for review. A dedicated page for the byelaws was also created and a team of users comprising Ranjith Siji, SreeKrishnan Narayanan, and Vishnu M was constituted for drafting the byelaws. Accordingly, the preliminary draft has been prepared and is hereby submitted for review. Sree1959 (talk) 10:14, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Though the preliminary draft byelaws were published assuming its possible registration under the Societies Registration Act, multiple feedback from Wikimedians suggest that certain aspects need more discussions among the Wikimedians entrusted with the task of drafting the byelaws prior to coming up with a comprehensive draft that can be published for review by the wider audience. Hence, the initial draft is being withdrawn temporarily. --Sree1959 (talk) 15:50, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think register Wikimedians of Kerala User Group under Societies Registration Act or any other act in India is not a good Idea. There are a lot of things to get into consideration before taking a decision in this direction.
First : Wikimedians of Kerala is a group of Wikimedians working on various wikimedia projects related to Malayalam and other languages in Kerala.
If we register it as a legal entity in India then we have the responsibility of the content in all wikimedia projects. Currently no organization in India is directly associated with a wikimedia project. Wikimedia India chapter is the only organization representing wikimedia in India. I think the registration of Wikimedia India is now not renewed and that organization is not working now.
If we are officialy associated with wikimedia in India then we are responsible for content in wikimedia projects. There might have contents those are not favourable or against the law in India. So taking those responsibilities is not a good idea. This is my opinion. Ranjithsiji (talk) 05:50, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
