Global renames
Hi. I'd be grateful for some input here. Thanks. --Dweller (talk) 12:47, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
Charts
I think your charts need to be expanded. Maybe stretch them out to 2015 or 2016?
Also, is there a reason why you discontinued keeping an election page for Stewards after 2007? I don't think the archives are in very good shape. Liz (talk) 23:58, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
- The election pages are still there - see Stewards/Elections from 2005 to 2013. Ajraddatz (Talk) 00:11, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict :P) Hello Liz. The chart currently goes to 2014 (I think) because that is when the next steward elections are. If we extended it to 2015 or 2016, readers might think that the current stewards' terms last that long. Re elections pages: the most recent one is Stewards/Elections 2013. I do not understand why you say they stopped at 2007, but I did notice that the links above stop there. I will add the more recent ones. Regards, PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:12, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- And there are reconfirmations of all stewards at the same time of the elections; while there is no term limits for stewards, they have to be reconfirmed every year. --Rschen7754 00:26, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- That's what I really meant to write. Thank you for clarifying that though. PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:28, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

publish it in Türkmençe
I translated this page, I provided translation, please, publish that in Türkmençe wiki. waiting for your response — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sir artur (talk) 08:03, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Sir artur: Here is the translated version of this page in Türkmençe. It won't be published automatically at tk: wiki. If you want to create a page about stewards at Türkmençe Wikipedia, you will have to manually create a page locally. A soft redirect to this page would also be fine . Thank you for your work in translating the page. Regards, --Glaisher [talk] 08:16, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- ok, after telling it to you, I contacted our admin as well and he warned me at the time it was published. thank you.
Global checkusers
Hi, does anyone know where I can find an up-to-date list of global checkusers (people who can perform cross-wiki CUs)? SlimVirgin (talk) 00:50, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- See CU#Everywhere. Only Ombudsmen and staff have global access; stewards add and remove it locally as needed. Ajraddatz (talk) 01:02, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, Ajraddatz. SlimVirgin (talk) 04:08, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, sorry, another question. If I want to request a global CU, who do I ask? It's not a staff or ombudsman issue, so does that mean I can ask any steward? SlimVirgin (talk) 04:10, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. We have a page for specific requests at SRCU, but you can also contact us on IRC at #wikimedia-stewards or via email stewards[at]wikimedia.org. Ajraddatz (talk) 04:12, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks again. SlimVirgin (talk) 04:36, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- @SlimVirgin: asking in IRC is less preferable as it doesn't provide an audit trail, whereas a wiki request or an email does. Also see CheckUser policy to see the restrictions for the use of the CU tool. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:10, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- Understood, many thanks. SlimVirgin (talk) 01:18, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

MediaWiki question
OK, so I can't post on MediaWiki.org due to the global block, but this is my IP. Anyhoo... need support on fixing this. Nonetheless, what MediaWiki message do I need to edit to ensure userrights are bluelinked e.g.
- 17:44 2 September 2014 Example (talk) | contribs) changed membership for User:Example1@enwikilocalhost from sysop to sysop, oversight (Temporary permissions for test)
when it should be:
- 17:44 2 September 2014 Example (talk) | contribs) changed membership for User:Example1@enwikilocalhost from sysop to sysop, oversight (Temporary permissions for test)
- 17:44 2 September 2014 Example (talk) | contribs) changed membership for User:Example1@enwikiquotelocalhost from oversight to (none) (Done)
My localhost wikis are enwikilocalhost, enwikiversitymirror and enwikiquotelocalhost

stewards-l
Is there a reason why the stewards mailing list, stewards-l, is not mentioned on the page as a means of rapid communication with stewards for emergency attention (without creating on-wiki disruption or where there are privacy concerns)? --Abd (talk) 00:24, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
- That list is not a means for emergency communication with stewards. To contact stewards please use stewardswikimedia.org or IRC or Stewards' noticeboard. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:58, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've used it before for privacy issues, i.e., reporting a need for oversight; obviously, I'm not going to do that on the noticeboard or on IRC, both of which announce it to the world. The page says stewards at wikimedia.org for OTRS matters. If it can be used for other issues, fine. --Abd (talk) 03:04, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Active from
This is ambigous and not well-defined. It's neither when the user registered, not the first successful election to be a steward (See MarcoAurelio/Jusjih item) or the latest time flagged as steward (See Mardetanha item). Purpose to change it to "Latest elected".--GZWDer (talk) 06:30, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

I want to become a steward
To solve the problem and other such problems, I want to become a steward. How do I become a steward? Why can not I achieve my goal? Please explain it to me. I also want to note that, I'm an editor here categories in 9 languages: [1] Thanks in advance. --Idin Mammadof 19:05, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Idin Mammadof. There are steward elections roughly once per year. You'll need to meet the eligibility requirements, sign a confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation, and achieve at least 80% approval in a crosswiki election (including at least 30 supporting editors). Steward elections can be difficult — for example, only two out of the 17 applicants in 2016 were elected. Once you're a steward, you'll be strongly discouraged from using your steward access on any wiki where you are active or which has active administrators, your access to sensitive information will be tracked, and you'll be expected to follow community consensus. While you can help many people as a steward, it's not a good choice for dispute resolution. —Pathoschild 18:53, 04 June 2016 (UTC)
js update
Can somebody help here? Thank you, Conny (talk) 17:44, 3 June 2016 (UTC).
- Hello Conny. You can request temporary adminship for Nirmos at Steward requests/Permissions. Typically you should have a local community discussion on dewikinews first to make sure there are no objections. —Pathoschild 18:26, 04 June 2016 (UTC)
insults and curses
Can anyone take care of that matter? Kumkumuk insultes and curses other users, just like here. In which he spreads slander and insultes someone's mother. -- Mirzali (talk) 10:26, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, translatewiki.net is not Wikimedia Foundation's project. You need to contact the administrators there. Anyway, only you can see your messages on Special:NewMessages. --Stryn (talk) 10:48, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
