U4C-rights change
[edit]FYI, the U4C requested temporary giving checkuser-log to our usergroup (change is already made). You can read the details here. Best regards, Luke081515 15:22, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- This was done in Special:Redirect/logid/59187298 by User:EPIC. Not sure why this would have required any sort of "private request" as opposed to a public request, as the change is public. — xaosflux Talk 19:01, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux The announcement was made publicly, then a U4C member informed stewards about it. EPIC did the action, and another steward asked that future requests also be copied to SN. Can you clarify the nature of your objection? AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 05:29, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Not an objection, just an inquiry as the rights log called out that there was a "private request". My inquiry is about what sort of privacy was needed. I expect requests to change global group permissions be made publicly in usual venues (steward requests or even here). Related, this was specifically requested as temporary, how are we tracking this against the temporary condition? — xaosflux Talk 09:24, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- As the U4C motion says, it's temporary until the conclusion of Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee/Cases/Systemic failure in enforcing the code of conduct in Hebrew Wikipedia. I expect we'll get another motion asking for it to be removed when that happens. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 01:40, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

RfC closure
[edit]Requests for comment/Welcoming policy is overdue for a closure - I think the points that are going to be made have been made. * Pppery * it has begun 03:11, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- Similar to the request below I would expect the wikis affected to be notified by the RfC initiator in order to allow RfC participation and make them aware of potential changes if the policy gets adopted. Johannnes89 (talk) 19:41, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Consensus should be clear here. * Pppery * it has begun 19:00, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Have the wikis (potentially) affected [1] been notified about the RfC? Requests for comment/Policy#Initiating an RFC usually expects notifications, this RfC has apparently gone largely unnoticed, I don't see why just 10 users (including one sockpuppet and one opposing comment) should be able to implement such a change. request for mass message
[edit]Hello. Would someone kindly send the mass message regarding Steward requests/Bot status#Global bot status for KiranBOT? It has been almost three weeks since the request was put forward. courtesy ping to User:EPIC. —usernamekiran (talk) 20:59, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux can you do this? Leaderboard (talk) 18:14, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Usernamekiran: Have you prepared the invitation list yet? – Phương Linh (T · C · CA · L · B) 07:13, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Hide on Rosé: Hi. The list is at Bot policy/New global bot discussion. —usernamekiran (talk) 07:19, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

- @EPIC, Leaderboard, Xaosflux, and Hide on Rosé: never mind. I am doing it myself right now. —usernamekiran (talk) 08:47, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- done. I manually sent the notification to all the pages listed on Bot policy/New global bot discussion. —usernamekiran (talk) 09:35, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Usernamekiran and @Hide on Rosé I don't blame Usernamekiran for handling the notifications himself as he's basically being taken for a ride here with the inaction from stewards, but it's not something I would do as a Meta admin. Leaderboard (talk) 17:34, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Leaderboard: not much of an issue. the list is small, and I sent out the standard/neutral message. as long as the standard message is delivered I think it doesnt matter who or how it was sent :-) —usernamekiran (talk) 18:40, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Just for the record I hadn't sent the message as I was busy and had decreased activity. With that being said there shouldn't be any further action required from this end, assumably. EPIC (talk) 18:41, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @EPIC: I apologise if my actions, or sending the message came out as rude, it was not my intention. I have been busy as well, so I can understand. I got a little free time, and instead of pestering, or blaming someone, I thought it would be better to send out the messages. @EPIC again, I didn't mean anything, I hope you understand. —usernamekiran (talk) 18:55, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

GIPBE
[edit]Good day stewards. Was taking a look at the users with GIPBE and found that some of them were blocked for socking (e.g. AndreaGotts, Svpnikhil, ThePhantom65, etc.), some never made any edits (e.g. Sushree Andia), and some not editing for an extended period of time (e.g. Digimarks).
My question is that how often does the users in the GIPBE group gets reviewed and should there be an activity requirement and/or criteria for the users in said group? --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 13:37, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- As far as I see, there is no community policy for activity related to this flag (Global IP block exemptions). Gaining a single local block isn't necessarily a revocation bright line. I'd be fine with clean ups of very lenghty inactivity (perhaps 3+ years globally inactive) - and think that would be fairly uncontroversial. — xaosflux Talk 15:11, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think removing some of the very inactive ones makes sense (I seem to remember us doing that waaay back in the day, there was a list on stewwiki and everything). Blocks aren't necessarily a cause for removal as xaos mentioned, but I wouldn't object to reviewing some of those as well. – Ajraddatz (talk) 16:01, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux and Ajraddatz: Is 3 years of inactivity a good time for a review? --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 05:46, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
- 2 or even one year of inactivity should be enough. Leaderboard (talk) 06:23, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

Test of the Blocklog IP-Range Evaluation & Review Report
[edit]I have a new project with which we can better fight spam and vandalism and am looking for a few testers. This is still experimental and there may still be problems. I think this is particularly useful for stewards. I would be happy about feedback.Blocklog IP-Range Evaluation & Review Report 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 (WikiBayerCatHelper) 17:13, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- @WikiBayer "© WikiBayer 2025 All rights reserved" - why is the tool not open-source? Also, the charts don't make much sense as they don't have any kind of labelling - some context on what each of these charts do would be helpful to see. Leaderboard (talk) 18:13, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Is there somewhere to set the interface language? The URI above loads in =en, but any use reverts to de. — xaosflux Talk 18:45, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Leaderboard " not open-source?" Open Source does not mean that there are no rights. I will also public the code, AGPL or other licenses also have certain restrictions. This is currently still an unfinished test operation. The charts are based on tooltips. At least I thought it would be good, but I had added unobtrusive labels to some of the charts. Is this obtrusive better? + I have now add "<input type="hidden" name="lang" value="<?php echo htmlspecialchars($_GET["lang"] ?? ); ?>"> to fix the lang" 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 (WikiBayerCatHelper) 19:54, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
