Talk:Mental health resources
Add topicGreece
[edit]In Greece the national hotline seems to be 210-197 at this address. I found it through web search so I don't know if it's functional, but it is under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Security and (according to its webpage) manned by professionals 24/7. While investigating the resource, please check if their number is 210 197 for all places or 197 for Athens and 210 197 from outside Athens. The police (100) is also known to be responding to crisis/suicide calls. I've included these numbers in the Greek translation of the intro. On a sidenote, I think it would be worth to translate the "Worldwide" section of the list so I'll just leave the transation here.

- Thanks Badseed, I'll plug the greek translation in for the Worldwide section (if you want to translate the rest of it you can also use the translation group) and we'll look at the greek numbers and create a section for Greece once we've confirmed. I'll ping you here when we do :) Jalexander--WMF 18:08, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Germany
[edit]The most commonly known helplines in Germany are the pastoral helplines, Telefonseelsorge. There is a helpline for women from the government called Hilfetelefon. This site lists more very effective emergency numbers. This institution is a unique counselling service for all things concering suicide. They do not have a crisis helpline, but can be contacted by all German speaking people at normal office hours and get good advice. If I think of any more numbers or institutions, I will tell here. --Kritzolina (talk) 20:31, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Why is everything in the TOC listed twice?

"Suggest one" pages leads to... officewiki
[edit]We're sorry, but there are not currently resources for KR. Please feel free to suggest some on the talk page.
Then "talk page" links to https://office.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Support_and_Safety/MH_Resources&action=edit§ion=new, which is officewiki, where none of the volunteers have an access to (including me). Shouldn't it be... this page? I don't know which page to edit (or which page should be the destination), so here's the note. — regards, Revi 11:49, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- @-revi: Did this get fixed? I don't see the link on the page anymore. Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 21:57, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- I still see it, as there were no contacts for PT. GoEThe (talk) 13:23, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

- @Ruthven:, thanks for giving us this information! Unfortunately I could not verify that the Filo Parlante hotline gives the counseling kids professional support, this is why I did not include the number in our list. The Contattolink also unfortunately does not work, it currently leads to a clothing shop. But I added the suicide hotlines and the Telefono Azurro to our lists. --CSteigenberger (WMF) (talk) 17:57, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
- @CSteigenberger (WMF): Thank you. ConTatto effectively ended in 2017. Filo Parlante (http://web.tiscali.it/filoparlante/) is a team of volunteers coordinated by a psychologist - I dunno how much it is spread at the national level. Cheers --Ruthven (msg) 11:54, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
Israel
[edit]Here is a suggestion for a reputable hotline in Israel:
- ERAN (ער"ן), dial 1201 from any Israeli phone (Available in Hebrew, English, Arabic, and Russian), or chat online (info page in Hebrew only, but chat supported in the four languages mentioned) - the main mental health first-aid hotline, operated by a veteran, trusted non-profit.
- Thanks a lot, I will add this to the list --CSteigenberger (WMF) (talk) 10:06, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Hungary
[edit]Magyar Lelki Elsősegély Telefonszolgálatok Szövetsége seems to be the main mental health service. I haven’t found an English section on their website, so I assume the service is also Hungarian-only (or at least it’s not guaranteed that the operator will have sufficient knowledge in any foreign languages). Contact methods listed:
- Phone number 116-123 (only domestic calls, free of charge, available 24/7; this seems to be an EU-wide number?)
- Phone number 06 (80) 810-600 (only domestic calls, free of charge, Fr 19:00 – Sa 07:00 and Sa 19:00 – We 13:00)
- Phone numbers +36 (66) 441 300, +36 (62) 436 570 and +36 (88) 422 205 (international calls as well, not free of charge, unclear availability times)
- Email address sos116123gmail.com (reply within 72 hours)
- Skype account lelkigondozas1 (Mo–Fr 17:00–01:00)
(By the way, you could turn all existing phone numbers on the page into tel: links so that smartphone users just need to click the link.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 00:12, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- Added, thanks. I can also do the "tel:" links when I get some more time :) Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 22:45, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

Belgium
[edit]Hi, could you please add the following suicide prevention resources, which are available in different parts of Belgium, to the list of resources? These are really specialized in suicide prevention (and also offer resources to train people...). The relevant resources are:
- De Zelfmoordlijn (suicide prevention lifeline for the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium) to the list of resources? This line can be called (in the Dutch-speaking part of the country) on the phone number 1813. They also have a website with resources and contact information. There's also a chat available on that website. The hotline is normally available on a 24/7 basis. The chat on the website is only available at some limited times (17h - 0h).
- Centre de Prévention du Suicide (an equivalent for the French-speaking part of Belgium): they offer a 24/7 hotline, as well as a website that contains valuable resources. The phone number is 0800 32 123, their website can be found here.
Kind regards, Daniuu (talk) 16:14, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Daniuu, I have added both of these. Please feel free to tweak if I have misunderstood (I am assuming that these numbers only work in the Dutch/French-language regions, but it is possible they may be called from other areas of Belgium). I added 2 lifelines for Spain, which was missing
[edit]Teléfono de la esperanza, the one offered by Google (a private NGO) and a relatively new service from the Government- both seem reliable resources.
I wanted to add a few more LGTBI resources too, but the ones I found were more related to legal matters than mental health, so in doubt, and not knowing them, I didn't add any.
Please review them so I can then later translate them into Spanish. JCrespo (WMF) (talk) 20:23, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Jaime. The contact information you have added for Spain should be visible now. You may wish to share the LGTBI resources here, and if we find it suitable, we will update and share it on the Meta page. Thanks! ZSoo (WMF) (talk) 09:14, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

- Also, as the current list is incomplete, perhaps add this website https://findahelpline.com/ to the Worldwide or introduction section, and redirect users to this site if they can't find their country's hotline (similar to the Suicide Prevention Resources page on Fandom)? - Ok, @SCP-2000! I'm looking at what you compiled. You've been busy! Thanks for adding to the support services.
- For some of the links, for the hotline listing, I might change to direct links to the hotline subpage on the particular organization's website. Perhaps some of these pages / organizations can be added to the broader mental health resources page. What do you think? JKoerner (WMF) (talk) 22:13, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- @JKoerner (WMF): change to direct links to the hotline subpage on the particular organization's website. Other big tech companies, such as Google, Meta and X, have a list of hotlines along with their official website. Also, the website link is more likely to result in a "404 error" compared to a phone number. So, I think both the hotline and website can be kept. The format can be: "[phone number] + More resources on their official website" Perhaps some of these pages / organizations can be added to the broader mental health resources page. It's fine for me. Also, this page description can be added the reminder like "You can find the list of resources about mental health in non-emergency situations." Thanks. SCP-2000 14:57, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- @SCP-2000 Great! Thanks for your input. Another staff member who originally worked on the Mental Health Resources and I will be working on the updates over the next week to incorporate your list.
