AAR for wikimaniawiki

Hello. Since the next AAR will happen soon, I was wondering why wikimaniawiki is excluded from AAR (list). Yes, it is a special wiki, but there is no process for removal of advanced rights. This leads to the situation that we have admins who were active when organizing Wikimania 2019, but they still have admin rights altough they never edited after that event. --Ameisenigel (talk) 22:50, 26 December 2022 (UTC)

My understanding is that indeed it's excluded as it's a special-purpose wiki whose user rights management relies on that year's Wikimania organising team per wikimania:Wikimania:Requests for rights. Looking at the rights log it looks like appointments are regularly handled by @Jdforrester which I mention here in case he wants to comment. While removing rights from inactive people makes sense to me, I'd prefer that an opt-in discussion happen over there and see if it makes sense to the folks working over there. Just my 0.02, other stewards may wish to comment too. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 16:55, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, this should be a decision for the wider Wikimania community. Happy to engage in a conversation there if you want to start one, @Ameisenigel. James F. (talk) 12:41, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

This was resolved locally, thanks for the input. --Ameisenigel (talk) 22:46, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Global interface editor JSON permissions

The global interface editor permission has the ability to edit site CSS, JS, and JSON pages and user CSS and JS, but not user JSON. Is there a reason for this? Global sysops are able to edit all CSS, JS, and JSON pages, so it doesn't seem to be an issue about global remit, and the changelog for GIE doesn't show the edituserjson permission ever being added (or removed). This isn't related to any specific issue – just something I noticed. I think that groups predates that permission being split and noone ever bothered to add it at Special:GlobalGroupPermissions/global-interface-editor; no objections to it being in there. — xaosflux Talk 15:13, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
