User page not in English ported to en.Wiki where we cannot remove it
User:Ketan Kumar Bhatt has a non-English page that he linked to his en.wiki user page where we do not allow user pages in other languages yet we cannot remove it as it is hosted here. Can someone please take a look at this? Thanks in advance. -- Alexf (talk) 10:05, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Not done @Alexf: we will not delete a userpage here, soley because it is in a specific language. If a local project does not want to see a global userpage, they can create a local user page to override it. That being said, this page may run afoul of the meta-wiki Meta:Inclusion policy - if someone that can read Hindi (I think) can review the page - if it is out of the meta-wiki scope they may flag it for speedy deletion. — xaosflux Talk 13:33, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Gone ahead and deleted it for simply being out of scope. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 13:56, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

- Alexf, though this has been resolved, I do want to make a note about user pages in different languages. The contents of a Meta-Wiki user page, often called a global user page, are shown on all projects where the user does not have a local userpage. I've taken the time to translate part of my userpage into a handful of languages, but most people do not, and even then on the majority of projects my userpage will simply be in English. It would be incredibly time-consuming and costly for me to translate my userpage into every language that has a Wikipedia project, especially considering that even an English userpage on a non-English project means that local editors have some idea of who I am and what I do, whether they know some English or use a machine translator. The same can be applied in any language. My point is this: with global userpages, it is not beneficial to try and enforce that they be in English. Best regards, and happy editing, Vermont (talk) 14:31, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Noted. I'll report the ones that are out of scope to the project. -- Alexf (talk) 14:36, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- +1 to Vermont's comment, in fact, we are a multi-cultural, multi-lingual project, so it would be the height of hypocrisy to enforce English language pages. User pages should be based on Meta:scope and Meta:civility alone. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:12, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- +1 In general, in my opinion no project should set a language on the user sites, all projects belong together via the WMF and the global community. And not everyone speaks English as their mother language.--14:06, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Support The page was out of scope, but the request was extremely bad anglocentrism, you should be reprimanded for that.

Request for mass message rights
Hi, I am part of Wikimedia Italia staff, it would be useful for my work to be able to send mass messages. --Marta Arosio (WMIT) (talk) 09:44, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Marta Arosio (WMIT) can you link to an existing target list and a prepared mass message that you need to send, or have had sent in the past? DannyS712 (talk) 09:54, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- @DannyS712 I didn't send any mass message till now, I have always asked to others to do that for me; for example this message was sent on my request to this list of people. The next thing I would like to do is to send a message to this list (I know I need to fix the list before) in order to invite them to answer a survey about contributors on it.wiki. --Marta Arosio (WMIT) (talk) 11:50, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

RfD closure
Hello. I was going to close this RfD when I noticed that I participated, so I shall leave the decision to other admin. For transparency: I was going to close it as kept because I don't think there's consensus to delete the page; and leave further discussion about its potential rename to WM:PPM or its talk page. But like I said, it's not my call anymore. Thanks, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 20:11, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

Creating User:ShohagS@global
I recently tried to create an global page for my account here. I am getting error warning that I need to login to create a user page. But I'm currently logged in and writing to you. What's the problem? Please specify that. Thanks. ShohagS (talk) 06:59, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- It should be just at User:ShohagS. You do not need the @global prefix. RhinosF1 (talk) 07:02, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Why is that? I found it at block log here. Please explain me if I have the right to create or something else. ShohagS (talk) 07:04, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- The @global is used by CentralAuth to indicate an action on a global account. It is not used by GlobalUserPage. I'm not sure if we should allow people to create redirects from @wiki/global pages. RhinosF1 (talk) 07:12, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- This @global suffix is supposed to disappear. I’m not sure it is really useful to allow people create redirections. --Pols12 (talk) 10:21, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

-autopatrol for User:Ruhubelent
I don't see how an user who is repeatedly blocked for civility issues (for edits on their userpage) be still be autopatrolled. They clearly doesn't command the trust from us. I did sort of have some involvement with them (via moving of their userpage), hence, will be best for someone else to do the necessary than me doing it personally. Thanks. I'm a Wikipedia novice who would like to add a writeup for a proposal for Contextual Citation to my User page. I had included a link to a YouTube video earlier that was triggering the filter but I have removed it. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Timlangeman (talk)

- @Billinghurst: Thanks for your feedback. I created a new subpage on my user profile. Is there any way that I can embed the YouTube video that is on my home page on my user subpage? If video embeds are not possible, is it better to include an image that links to the video?

It might be about time to block this IP address. This person seems a bit too hot-tempered for the Request for Comment page he or she is obviously haunting. His/her contributions include harassment irrelevant to the topic itself ("you have become a meme", with links to online bashing pages), which s/he re-inserted after a manual revert, nonsensical vandalism in other people's comments (which s/he again re-added after they were reverted) and name-calling ("Sassenach", a Scottish slur against the English). At any rate, this page should be guarded closely. Since this issue has gone viral, it attracts people with no interest whatsoever in constructive commenting. Requesting deleting of promotional page
The promotional userpage on en-wiki (see here) of a medical doctor has just been deleted under CSD G11 by my fellow admin, 331dot.
Unfortunately User:Drnisamudheen also has a page here on meta which is also unacceptably promotional, and that content now appears by default at en-wiki even though their user page there has been deleted. Thus, hyperlinks to their consultation practice and consultation fees is now visible on en-wiki (and presumably elsewhere, too).
I am unfamiliar with procedures on meta for tagging a page for deletion, so am requesting that an admin here addresses the issue, and removes that page or its contents. Many thanks, Nick Moyes (talk) 09:41, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Re: "I am unfamiliar with procedures on meta for tagging a page for deletion ", normally you just tag it with {{delete}}; that template works on most wikis. PiRSquared17 (talk) 09:42, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
