- I do not speak English, but it looks that smart ass is just vulgar and slag, and certainly we should avoid using it. That being said, jumping into accusation of criminal activities (sexual harassment, which is a serious offence in most jurisdictions) is absolutely disproportionate. Please calm down. Also, the Code of Conduct does not apply on Meta. We have WM:URB and community-appointed administrators to deal with incivility issues. Thanks, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:42, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @MarcoAurelio: that phrase isn't normally considered "vulgar", somewhat like sabelotodo. It isn't really "polite" and can easily be taken as a worse meaning on a multi-language project like meta due to the "ass" part. — xaosflux Talk 14:23, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: Whether that user's "smart-ass" is vulgar or not, it's still true that that user is making a false case, this just like that someone who claimed that Mike Pompeo and John Borton "are same person", just based on same supporting of Donald Trump's sanctions to Iran, not enough argumentum ad populum (Q251695)? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 23:19, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Please note that accusations of violating some supposed code of conduct were made against User:Ricardo gs, not me, before I made any comment at all. [1] When asked to clarify, "sexual language or imagery" was brought up. Help me understand were the user used sexual language or harassed anyone in or with this statement:
- I don't see a clear goal. I believe that the split of the nah wikipedia into many dialects, unless it has a bigger community, will affect the efforts to generate quality content. If the proposal is about renaming it to nci I hope it can preserve its content insetad of restarting it from zero. Regards. --Ricardo gs (talk) 19:03, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

I'm not sure why @Seb az86556 thinks that the IP is @Liuxinyu970226. There's no evidence for that. I'm not sure why Liuxinyu started in on a murder case. That's really out of line.
- Seb az86556 needs not to use language like smart-ass-concern. It is not ever helpful, and in general is going to make people responsible for responding to RfC pages where s/he contributes less likely, rather than more likely, to respond favorably.
- Liuxinyu, who is a long-time, responsible contributor on pages related to Language Committee work, needs not to lose it like that. I really don't get why that happened.
I'd like to propose that on a voluntary basis, the two of them not interact with each other—and not contribute further to this RfC.
- As for the RfC itself, I think I'm going to put a stop to the current line of the discussion and try to get it a little bit more focused. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:51, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Request to mark for translation
I am requesting a translation of one sentence at User:Pine/WMYHTW translations. Would someone with the translation administrator permission please mark the sentence for translation? --Pine (✉) 04:15, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Pine: there have been no edits since it was lasted marked for translation. You can add translate tags to your page yourself. — xaosflux Talk 13:41, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: thanks for the info. I have spent some time reading the documentation for the translation process, but I'm unclear on what translation administrators do that I can't do myself with the <translate> tags. Is there a place that explains this? --Pine (✉) 00:22, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Pine: commons:Commons:Preparing a page for translation is a great place to start! You can add original content, and mark up the original right now. Once the marking up is done a translation admin "marks" it to make it replicate your master page changes to the other translations/translation queues. Hope that helps? — xaosflux Talk 00:50, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Xaosflux, am I correct in saying that anyone can place translation tags on a page, and after the tags are placed anyone can begin to do translations, but only translation administrators can mark entire pages for translation and only translation administrators can delete pages that were created with the translate extension? --Pine (✉) 22:54, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- One point of confusion for me is that in the history of User:Pine/WMYHTW translations there is nothing that shows that the page was marked for translation.--Pine (✉) 23:05, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Pine: it is in the page's log. — xaosflux Talk 23:18, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

Unfair 1 year ban
Hello, I would like to get a second chance because my IP ban of a year is absolutely unjustified and been made by subjective opinion of a wiki administrator because he does not agree with my source-based opinion. Please consider helping me create a better Wikipedia, alongside others.

CEE CentralNotice
(Pinging @Samat, Martin Urbanec, and Dungodung:)
(Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but there doesn't seem to be a place to specifically request help from CentralNotice admins. If there's a better place, feel free to move this there.)
The CentralNotice proposed at CentralNotice/Request/CEE Meeting 2019 registration was enabled without addressing any of the substantial problems, including the fact that it violates the privacy requirements of CentralNotices, and the target communities were not notified of the proposal discussion as required by the guidelines. The banner should be disabled by a CentralNotice administrator, as it does not conform to the guidelines. --Yair rand (talk) 20:03, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Martin Urbanec: as you enabled this, can you respond? — xaosflux Talk 23:45, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for pinging me, I must've missed the ping.
- @Yair rand: Privacy problem) I'm honestly not sure how a non-wiki target violates Privacy policy, but you're right guidelines strictly tells that's a must. I'll try to reach the primary contact quickly, and if I fail, I'll disable the campaign till that's resolved.
- Notification) There's no simple way how to notify all 700+ projects that we have, without the massmessage right. For those truly central notices, notification is rarely done - in fact, I didn't see any global message that says a global banner will be enabled, in my whole wiki-life. Anyway, since the banner runs for a while now, all wikis already know about it, and can object, if they want to. Hence, I don't feel the banner needs to be disabled for this reason.
- In summary, the first issue is quite important, and I apologize for overseeing it. As said earlier, I'll try to reach the primary contact, and disable the campaign if I fail to get him today or tomorrow.
- Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 10:45, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
