Hi everyone, I mainly work in fighting LTAs/spambot and I think that local CU on metawiki would be very useful to me. While itwiki is my homewiki, I'm mainly active on meta at present, for my work as a steward. To give an example of the usefulness of the tool: it often happens that spambots and LTAs act locally from different proxies than the one of registration and switch between more users and proxies, and imho the tool would give an extra hand in discovering them, in addition to LWCU, which I already use a lot but which only shows registration data. I'd also help with any local CU requests and I'd be, as I have always tried to be, careful about the policies and limits of use of the CU. As I have always said, I really don't like collecting flags, I only ask when I think there's a real need. Obviously, I would have no problem resigning if it was no longer necessary, or in the event that the flag is no longer used.     Hi @Leaderboard:, yep I understand your thought, actually also CheckUser policy says that stewards can use the flag for cross-wiki vandalism purpose but we, as stewards, usually don't grant ourselves permissions when there are active local users with the same permission and avoid to do so (limiting the case to emergencies). Routine use of this kind could also be a reason of concern for local CU. Also, as specified in that policy, checks involving local vandals cannot be performed, and I'd like to use CU for local requests and vandal as well, as explained in the statement. I'm asking for a local permission, in fact, because it's something I plan to do both alongside and apart from stewardship and this flag would be used even if I, just for example, decide not to participate in the confirmations.
