Description
[edit]Due to very recent policies changes by WMF upon WMF travel scholarships, the 2025 Hackathon is limited to 3 productive days. Wikimedia hackathons are filled for half of their productive time with skill training, networking with other Wikimedian developers, and socialization, living us with only 1.5 days of productive time for the team.
In 2025, Lingua Libre dev team is at a crossroad with generational change. In this context the compressed timeframe above is not satisfactory and a missed opportunity.
Sill, we want to seize this IRL gathering opportunity. We therefore petition Wikimedia France for an event/travel funding to extend the stay of the team of 3 by 3 productive days for under 2,000€.
This microfunding request is for covering early arrival travel expenses, 3 nights hosting and associated spending for three Wikimedia contributors who will gather in Istanbul before the Wikimedia Hackathon. The goal is to prepare technical work, collaborate in-person, and align competencies on Wikimedia-related projects ahead of the main event.
