Equity Landscape

Fairness does not mean everyone gets the same.

Fairness means everyone gets what they need. ~ Rick Riordan

Welcome!

[edit]

You have landed on the main portal page for the Global Data & Insights team's Equity Landscape metrics project. The purpose of this project is to begin compiling, and making more accessible, existing data on signal metrics of Wikimedia Movement Engagement. Specifically, we are working to create geo-based Wikimedia Movement data landscape metrics annually to support a public dashboard so we can work together to track Wikimedia progress in breaking down the social, political, and technical barriers to full participation in free knowledge.

How to navigate this portal:

[edit]
  • If you would like to learn more about what we are doing and why, you can probably find it here starting at the "Introduction" tab.
  • For a quick overview of the kind of metrics we are aiming at see the "Metrics Schema" tab.
  • To learn about our piloting and consulting activities check out the "Pilot" tab and its detailed subpages.

We are looking forward to learning together and incorporating community input where we can, to further our shared strategic efforts to become a more globally diverse, inclusive, and equitable Wikimedia Movement. We hope you will engage in our upcoming pilot and consultation period to share your ideas of the future and help to lay the groundwork for mapping our movement's geographic diversity, inclusion, and equity in data.
