[edit]- Please add Russian Federation among the targets as well, banner & landing page prepared. Thanks.--Frhdkazan (talk) 15:23, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
- Please include a banner in Russia. The page is ready to contest for file downloads, the banner and download company are translated into Russian. .. JukoFF (talk) 09:23, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- About Italy, we have a good coverage on social media and I have informed the 2015 uploaders, and we are waiting for the press. So we are fine, but few days of banner would be useful just to spread the news to the general population. I'm not thirsty, you decide if you want the community wishlist survey to end (there was a sitenotice for that, right?), it's fine with me. The landing page is commons:Commons:Wiki_Science_Competition_2017_in_Italy, the banner text is in the page with the other ones. I have left a message on the village pump on Italian wikipedia and [Wikiversity] (I cited it again today). No pecific reply. So let's wait a little bit more.--Alexmar983 (talk) 11:10, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- User:Seddon (WMF) I checked again, noone said anything on the topic so I suppose you can go on with the sitenotice in Italy. Doing it this week would be useful because we are sending the messages to the press in these days so it might have an enhancing effect. Just one week maybe, we see how it goes. I want to avoid massive upload of unsuitable images, but so far the upload workflow has been professional.--Alexmar983 (talk) 07:36, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- Vietnam closes on the Dec, 15th and the reply was positive, maybe it was related only to vi.wikipedia, but few days should be ok. I ask them to translate the commons landing page.--Alexmar983 (talk) 13:07, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- translated! I think Vietnam is ok.--Alexmar983 (talk) 12:46, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- User:Seddon (WMF) please start Vietnam, put the banner in English, with a link to thai page. people will click on it an in any case we need mainly researchers, they understand English...--Alexmar983 (talk) 05:54, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

- tr-N users seemed interested, they also informed via email about their social media, and they started to translate the page so i'd say they're fine. Plus, there is not superposition with any local banner (I don't think they are in the Asian month). they close on the 30th like the rest of Europe. The banner should be more urgent, I can ask a translation.--Alexmar983 (talk) 14:54, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- About China User:Seddon (WMF) noone translated anything, noone opposed but I have just proposed a prize, people are uploading and in Univerisities they can understand English, so can you please upload a sitenotice in China in English? Thank you.--Alexmar983 (talk) 03:16, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- User:Seddon (WMF)/User:Seddon, any news from China? I focused on other countries hoping for the sitenotice soon, but I see nothing so far and I have started a mass campaign to commons users as a backup plan...--Alexmar983 (talk) 03:14, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- I see it! Thank you!--Alexmar983 (talk) 05:31, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

- User:Seddon (WMF)/User:Seddon, this page was created by User:علاء. results in Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria are all above the expected output, because ar-N really pulled their best. I think that their social campaign is a proof they would be quite ok with a sitenotice and massive information. Consider that I was pushing elephants up the stairs in many other wikipedias so they did everything on their own. What about reusing the site notice of Saudi Arabia with a link to that more generic page and display it in Algeria, Egypt, Lybia, Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Oman, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Djibuti, Mauritania, Syria... Palestine?. Or use the English (or French) one, as I said many times it's ok for our key target, that is educated people. This way we start the "Africa campaign" too. Thank you.--Alexmar983 (talk) 11:51, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Alexmar983: Can I help in anything? --Alaa :)..! 16:13, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- User:علاء as far as I know (I spoke with WMF yesterday), the sitenotice was inserted in English. But you can go to commons:Commons:Wiki_Science_Competition_2017/CentralNotice and in the first "international" section suggest a sitenotice in ar-N with a link to the general page. I have no idea if the language in the Saudi Arabia sitenotice sounds too "regional". Maybe later we can put that one. Can you confirm there is a sitenotice in Arab countries now?--Alexmar983 (talk) 01:57, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Alexmar983: I added an ar-N sitenotice. I asked some people from different countries (E.g. Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait..) and the confirmed that there's a sitenotice in this country. Also previously we added a local sitenotice in ar.wiki but we removed it after the appearance of the Central one --Alaa :)..! 14:53, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- User:علاء good, I hope in 2019 we can get an ar-N juror in the first level jury too, this time we got only the Iraqi surgeon. In any case, FYI I will send also a press release to English and French speaking countries in Africa soon, that is Egypt/Sudan and Algeria/Tunisia/Morocco.--Alexmar983 (talk) 02:13, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Alexmar983: Good, I hope so also. If we a live until 2019 I'll be happy if you can send to me so I can help in things related to ar-N. Thanks and in ar. community we appreciate all of your effort --Alaa :)..! 11:55, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- It's nice that someone notices User:علاء and thank to you as well, Arabs and indians have been really supportive :) I am working in my free time 8 hours a day on this, we are not a lot, basically three at the main organization. And not having the sitenotice makes everything complicated, so you end up writing emails and emails hoping for a miracle... when you can get one sitenotice, it is more time on a different task! of course you get a lot of unsuitable files with sitenotices but I prefer to spend my time sorting with calm files which maybe can still be reused outside scientific articles than trying to compensate the lack of a banner.--Alexmar983 (talk) 12:04, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

[edit]I would like to point that we had to keep WSC open of another two week because the lack of sitentice drastically reduced the effect of our campaign. I have sent 2000 mails so far and yet some countries have a -50%/-90% compared to 2015. Cui prodest? well, let's hope to get at least China and Vietnam soon... coming back for Africa.--Alexmar983 (talk) 11:43, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- User:Seddon (WMF) about Sweden, here noone opposed but they said the Asian month had to finish. Well, it is over. The uploaded files for WSC are terrible, we have a "Swedish" juror, we have sitenotice in Swedish ready since many weeks and it's our only chance to have some decent upload from a country in Scandinavia. In addition to that, I am contacting all interested users on commons one by one and I have not found a sv-N yet... so can we please have Sweden?--Alexmar983 (talk) 13:35, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
About Africa, we are translating the page in French I hope we can start in the meantime with en-N subsaharian countries.--Alexmar983 (talk) 02:25, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- Page in French is ready, virtually all African countries can be covered. Not sure in certain area if it is better English/French or Arabic but the core is there.--Alexmar983 (talk) 05:33, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
