[edit]- The proposed settings above suggest that the campaign would have started at the beginning of January, which contradicts the note on the calendar and the page on Commons. I assume that the February start date is the correct one? --Yair rand (talk) 19:36, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry that seems a typo. The contest starts on 1st of February 2022. Thanks. --Tiven2240 (talk) 03:36, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, please don't forget to put your request on the calendar! Ciell (talk) 21:19, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Ciell, Martin Urbanec, and Steinsplitter:. Just a reminder that the contest will start on 1st February --Tiven2240 (talk) 18:26, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
Hello Tiven2240, thanks for the reminder! I created a banner, following the last year's example. You can preview it at [1]. Can you check it and let me know how it looks like?
I also have a couple of questions about the banner itself:
- Is there a vector version of the banner logo?
- Is there a list of Wikipedias that decided to participate in Wiki Loves Folklore? I'm not sure it's a good idea to display the banner on all Wikipedias (for instance, at Czech Wikipedia, there's another campaign ongoing now).
Thanks for running the contest, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 10:48, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Martin Urbanec:, the banner looks beautiful, it would be best if it gets the scrolling view like previous years. Also if you can adjust the slogan a bit for the mobile readers because it take an extra line for the word win.
- Please check if this Vector version looks good.
- Regarding the countries I wish to inform you that this is an International project wherein most of the participants in our previous three editions have joined the project due to Central Notice. We were happy to capture contribution from over 125+ countries in the past. This year also we wish that we have maximum coverage and also respect other contests wherein Central Notice are already running or planned this February.
- We currently have signed up participating countries like India, Benin, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Italy, Ghana, Phillipines, Russia, Ireland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nepal, Croatia, Tanzania, Mali, Myanmar, Malta, Thailand, Nigeria, Peru, Burundi. Also Wikipedia like Fr Wiki, Bn Wiki, As Wiki, Sd Wiki, Mr Wiki, Skr Wiki, it Wiki, Simple English Wiki, Dag Wiki, Or Wiki, Ur Wiki, TL Wiki, TT Wiki, ga Wiki, en Wiki, Bs Wiki, Sat Wiki, Gu Wiki, Hr Wiki, Ml Wiki, SW Wiki, Mni Wiki are with us during this period. We also would urge that we have coverage in Chinese Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Arabic. We may also have local languages and countries joining us throughout the contest.
- We are happy for your support and guidance everytime. :)
- Thanks --Tiven2240 (talk) 18:34, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ciell, DerHexer, Martin Urbanec, Romaine, Steinsplitter, and Ата: the project has already started. Kindly activate the central notice. --Tiven2240 (talk) 09:06, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Tiven, please read why we cannot display banners to everyone all the time. I would propose showing the banner in the countries that have signed up for participation.
- For accessibility reasons, it would also be welcoming to have the landing pages available in the requested banner languages - but I can see this is short notice, but please do consider this a priority for next year. Ciell (talk) 20:01, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Done for Commons. I'm not sure about the Wikipedia one (I don't want to surprise the communities with a banner deployed out of the blue). Martin Urbanec (talk) 20:55, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

- Hello, we need it on Italian Wikipedia too, connected with WikiDonne's campaign page. Is something I need to do? Thank you. --Camelia (talk) 21:29, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Ciell, DerHexer, Martin Urbanec, Romaine, Steinsplitter, and Ата:. Wiki Loves Folklore is not only a photo contest in Commons, but also an edit-a-tthon on Wikipedia in many languages about folklore and specifically about women and folklore. So we need the banner on Wikipedia too. Is a kinda WLM & WLE, we always have the banner on Wikipedia during these campaigns. --Camelia (talk) 08:18, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

- Hello @Ciell, DerHexer, Martin Urbanec, Romaine, Steinsplitter, and Ата:, please enable the banner for logout users in Nigeria. See our landing page. Our target audience are visitors of English Wikipedia, and Yoruba Wikipedia Thank you. T CellsTalk 19:33, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

- @Ciell, DerHexer, Martin Urbanec, Romaine, Steinsplitter, and Ата:, we humbly request for the activation of the CentralNotice banner for Ghana. The contest has already begun and we are hopping that the banner will help increase participation in Ghana. We are organizing this contest for the 3rd time in a row. Here is our landing page. Warmly, Shahadusadik (talk) 11:42, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- It would be great if we can have CentralNotice banner on the Dagbani Wikipedia, Twi Wikipedia and Incubator as most if our community are currently on these Wikis. Shahadusadik (talk) 11:51, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Ciell, DerHexer, Martin Urbanec, Romaine, Steinsplitter, and Ата:
- I truly agree to what Ciell pointed out regarding not displaying banner all the time. I urge you to kindly not display it all the time but target a user after some intervals. Also I urge you to kindly make the (x) button a little large so that people who don't want it all-time can cancel it. This can provide users a choice who don't want to opt for the banner. Also we have the landing pages, languages and countries at our organise page. As said by Ciell about having the list at the time of requesting, i would inform you that it is not possible for us to know exact wiki or countries participating unless the contest starts as we are open to Communities to sign up before 1st February. Also i wish to inform you that this is not just a commons photography contest but like Wiki Loves monuments and Earth where communities from all Wikimedia projects come together for this contest. We also have a Wikipedia contest - Feminism and Folklore which has 26 Wiki Communities signed up. You all have been our strong support from the past three years and we are very much thankful for your work for the movement.
- I strongly urge you to kindly support the contest and activate banner on English Wikipedia and local wiki projects in signed up countries like India, Benin, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Italy, Ghana, Phillipines, Russia, Ireland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nepal, Croatia, Tanzania, Mali, Myanmar, Malta, Thailand, Nigeria, Peru, Burundi.
- Thank you in advance

- Hi all, please stop pinging us - we are volunteers just like you all are and are not online 24/7. We've had this kind of discussion for WLF (and former WLL) in previous years as well, and it is important to understand that there is no one user group more entitled to the banner space than another. If we need to set up several campaigns like in this case, because we need to target Commons and Wikipedia, logged in and not logged in, and different languages and countries all differently, this needs to be clear from the request at the moment of requesting. Pinging us does not help to make your point.
- Let me reach out to @Martin Urbanec and see how we can help you further: it would help to have more specifics about the request, aka a list of a) countries, and b) languages. Just saying 'all' (as in the request above) is not in line with the Central Notice guidelines, that says banner campaigns need to be as unobtrusive as possible, and as narrowly tailored as necessary. Also, please be aware that our banners are very rarely shown to anonymous users and we want to keep it that way - exceptions are for instance the fundraising banners. I do see how banners bring in new people that might not have interacted with us before and how your contest could benefit from this, but a stricter limit on the amount of times that a banner is shown to this specific target group will be in place Ciell (talk) 16:23, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
I'm sick at the moment and would appreciate it if you would exclude me from that list. Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:54, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi everyone, I've talked to Tiven and I have now created an extra campaign that will run with low priority on Wikipedias for all languages that are taking part in WLF 2022. Since I understand the Feminism and Folklore 2022 writing part will have local campaigns, I do not want to target (and possibly annoy) Wikipedia's too much with a banner that directs people to Commons, so I've set it for 3 impressions per week. Also, I'll do another (again) low priority campaign for anons: anons anywhere in the world will see the banner 3 times max: difference is that this one does target all languages and all countries. I hope this helps! I am waiting for a go from Tiven at the moment to enable these banners, so you should see them anywhere in the upcoming 24 hours. Ciell (talk) 17:40, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Ciell! Martin Urbanec (talk) 18:03, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

- Great, I enabled both additional campaigns. Ciell (talk) 18:23, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

- The logo used on mobile view is incorrect: please change line 85 to

Per request, extended the runtime of the banner, but with a lower impression rate (3 impressions per week). Ciell (talk) 17:23, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
