What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?
[edit]Description - The Wikimedia Foundation wants to celebrate International Women’s Day by celebrating the volunteers who are closing gender gaps on our projects. This banner will send people to a landing page that celebrates women who are making our projects more equitable. We believe that by showcasing these volunteers to an average Wikipedia reader, we can also increase their understanding of how volunteers edit and maintain our projects, increasing general awareness and affinity towards Wikipedia and its volunteer model.
Metrics - Success of the campaign will be measured by clicks redirecting to the campaign’s landing page on wikimediafoundation.org. Ultimately, our goal is to engage external audiences (Wikipedia readers, not part of the movement) and increase their understanding of the work volunteers do on Wikipedia, particularly around gender equity

[edit]Ciell (talk) will coordinate on this banner with WMF. Ciell (talk) 08:46, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Johannnes89 can you support me with a banner code review, because this is all personal design? The proposed banner is here, the translated versions for French and the English/Swahili for Kenya are here. Thanks! Ciell (talk) 08:47, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Ciell when I initially opened the banner preview [1] it looked like this [2] but I couldn't reproduce this error, all other previews (using Vector 2022, Vector and Minerva and different browsers) correctly displayed the banner. The flexible display depending on screen width also works as intended. I don't see any issues with the banner code. Johannnes89 (talk) 09:05, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks @Johannnes89 , I'll forward the preview to WMF. Which device/browser was this? Ciell (talk) 09:11, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Safari (MacBook Pro). But this preview didn't occur again, so it was probably just a one-time loading error. Johannnes89 (talk) 09:14, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
