What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?
[edit]Description - This campaign is a set of 4 banners used to notify contributors of the opportunity to vote in the 2024 Board of Trustees election running from 3 September 2024 to 17 September 2024. We want to show banner 1 to 70% of targeted users. The banner 2 is shown to 10%, same for banners 3 and 4, which messages we are AB testing against the banner 1.
Metrics - For each banner of the campaign, we would like to have the number of views, number of conversions (click on link), sources (Type of device, country) when possible

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?

[edit]Central Notice admin comments
[edit]@MPossoupe please note that volunteer CentralNotice admins cannot provide you with such metrics, as we don't have access to any data on banner performance. We've mentioned this to the WMF in the past, but so far nothing has been done about it. You'll need to ask people at the foundation (e.g. the team responsible for WMF fundraising banners) who have access to those metrics. --Johannnes89 (talk) 06:35, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Johannnes89, well noted, thanks.
- Can you, please, confirm for the setups requested for the campaign? 1 bucket with 4 banners: banner 1 shown to 70% of the target, banners 2, 3 and 4 to 10% of the target each?
- Many thanks

- @MPossoupe (WMF) I've created the campaign [1] as well as the banners: Main banner [2] (preview [3]), second version [4] (preview [5]), third version [6] (preview [7]), fourth version [8] (preview [9]).
- I've also added the same script which has been used at the last U4C elections, displaying the banner only to users with 300 local edits. Note that that's not the same as the actual criteria (which look at global edits), but given that this was acceptable for the U4C election, I guess it's fine for the board elections as well. If not, I would like to ask you to provide such a script yourself. Volunteer CentralNotice admin capacity is very limited and the WMF should be able to find an employee who could write a more advanced script (most of us would like the WMF to take care of their own banner campaigns in general given the limited volunteer capacity).
- I also changed that the banners translation links to the correct location – please make sure to addd some WMF translations before the campaign starts, because those translations need CN admin approval (without approval the English version will be shown). Johannnes89 (talk) 17:02, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the amazing support @Johannnes89 setting up the campaign and providing the translations links. Well appreciated.
- I have made a small style change on the banner link to have it underline. I have updated the script accordingly, taking into the recent changes you made. Can you please update in your settings?
- The scripts are here:
- Regarding supporting CN admins work, few weeks ago, the Foundation has recruited a staff to support your works.
- Thanks,
- MPossoupe (WMF) (talk) 18:25, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- I know that the foundation has finally recruited a staff member for CN support and I'm very grateful for that. But given that there are currently only 5-6 volunteer CN admins who are at least somewhat active while there are 23 WMF accounts with CN admin permissions, I don't see a reason why the foundation can't handle their CN requests entirely by themselves.
- I've update the four banners [10] (you can use the preview links from my comment above). Johannnes89 (talk) 19:32, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Johannnes89. Have a look at the previews and all looks good.
- Also, can we please remove the 300 local edits settings and display all the 4 banners to logged-in users only.
- Many thanks,

- Hi @Johannnes89,
- I would appreciate if you can please update the link on all the banners to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:SecurePoll/vote/400?wprov=cnbw1
- We are taking voters directly to the securePoll voting page.
- Many thanks,
- MPossoupe (WMF) (talk) 08:35, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- @MPossoupe (WMF) I can do that, but are you sure that's a good idea? The banner used at the last election [11] links to the voter information page, because users probably want to read about the candidates and check their eligibility before using SecurePoll? Johannnes89 (talk) 09:09, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out @Johannnes89. Yes, this year we change the voter journey to add the voting information, links to candidates page directly on securePoll directly. MPossoupe (WMF) (talk) 09:26, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, I've changed all banners as requested [12]. Johannnes89 (talk) 09:30, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
