Wikimania Katowice
[edit]Unlike last Wikimania, there was only few sessions related to Wikisource.
there has been a meetup where we talked about various subjects, including the next Wikisource conference and future of this User Group and some problem (what is acceptable on Wikisources ? can we split the Armenian Wikisource ? etc.)
Other meetings
[edit]- February: Nicolas (with the help of Nanour and others) did 4 sessions of training of trainers for the West African Réseau @pprendre. It was especially important as Africa is a major blind spot and knowledge gap for Wikisource. See also Diff post
- February 15: Satdeep Gill did a presentation about Wikisource Loves Manuscripts at the 7th International Sanskrit Computational Linguistics Symposium, video on YouTube
Wikisource Conference 2025
[edit]A big part of the year was used to put in place the second Wikisource Conference (the first one was in 2015 and the 2020 edition was cancelled due to COVID).
First, the user group, along with our fiscal sponsor Wikimedia Indonesia, applied for a grant (Grants:Programs/Wikimedia Community Fund/Conference Fund/Wikisource Conference 2024). It was proposed in September 2024 but was moved to February 2025. Then, several teams were set up to organize the conference (a core team, a scholarship team and a program team).
