The Wikipedians of Moroccan Tamazight User Group is a user group whose objective is to promote the Amazigh language and culture on Wikimedia projects. It is formed by active contributors of Moroccan Tamazigh Wikimedia projects. The presence of the Amazigh languages on all Wikimedia projects is still modest, despite the presence of some young projects that support them on Wikipedia, for example, the Tachelhit Wikipedia and the Standard Moroccan Amazigh Wikipedia, and other projects in the incubator.
Objectives
- Promote Wikimedia projects.
- Promote editing of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects in Moroccan Tamazight language.
- Engage and encourage More Tamazight speakers to become contributors of the Wikimedia projects.
- Organize in-person events for local community Wikimedians to provide them with resources needed to enhance both their skills and ability for the development of the Wikimedia projects.
- Organize regional and international events to promote local culture and diversity.
Activities
This user group plans to hold and support the following activities:
- Meetings for members in order to exchange ideas and to find ways to support them to continue editing the projects in areas where they would need help.
- Edit-at-thons to help new Wikipedians learn editing techniques, to create, translate and improve the content in all Wikimedia projects.
- Editing contests to encourage existing regular editors to keep editing Wikimedia projects and also encourage others to join.
- Photographic Contest and trips to encourage users to upload media and document files to commons in order to be used in all Wikimedia projects.
- Technical Projects to contribute to the technical aspect of the Amazigh Wikimedia Projects and develop automated solutions.
