위키미디어 운동에 기여하는 그룹의 다양성을 인정하여, 위키미디어 재단 이사회에서는 지부, 주제별 조직, 사용자 그룹을 비롯하여 위키미디어 운동 내에서 가맹단체 모델을 인정하고 있습니다.

역사:
현재 위키미디어 가맹단체 모델은 운동 역할 프로젝트에 의해 개발되었습니다. 2010년 지부 회의에서 논의한 후 2010년에 개발이 시작되었으며 2012년 3월 31일 이사회에서 만장일치로 승인되었습니다. 가맹위원회는 위키미디어 운동 가맹단체의 인정 및 존재에 대해 조언하고 권고합니다.
