New noticeboard
On 31 August 2012 I proposed a noticeboard on the private list 'chapters@wikimedia.ch' as follows:
“ |
A while ago Thehelpfulone and I thought it would be good to have a chapters noticeboard or 'village pump' on meta for public notices and discussions regarding chapter issues. The noticeboard could be used instead of this list and internal-l in many cases. With WCA now created, there will be an increase in notices that affect all chapters and also staff to assist/coordinate. I dont know of any public central discussion forum for chapters, except for wikimedia-l which isnt always suitable for such a large distribution list as wikimedia-l where many subscribers may feel it is irrelevant to them. Ideally this new board would be suitable for chapter members (not just board members) and other meta-pedians who want to be heavily involved in their chapter and other chapters and prospective chapters. Has something like this been tried before? |

There were no alternative suggestions, and there was general support, so here it is. John Vandenberg (talk) 22:13, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- At Talk:CN I've suggested that "CN" be the shortcut, but it might be too early to implement that. John Vandenberg (talk) 22:21, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- You could ask the stewards how their Stewards' noticeboard works. As far as I know, it's a very useful tool for an extremely limited subset of issue which are better tracked on wiki. --Nemo 22:27, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- I prefer the Arbitration Committee noticeboard model, which is strictly notices, with the talk page being used to discuss the issues at hand. However I havent seen any other noticeboard use an approach similar to that, so I suspect that it will operate like the Stewards' noticeboard (SN), and may even be more 'chatty' than the SN. People outside the chapters will occasionally want to ask questions or raise issues, and they will pick the most central and visible page they can. - The most visible so Wikimedia Forum? --Nemo 05:07, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
