Wikimedia Community of Saint Petersburg User Group (Группа участников «Сообщество викимедийцев Санкт-Петербурга»; SPU) is a group of people interested in various topics related with St. Petersburg, Russia, across all Wikimedia projects in all languages.

  • Support and promotion "Wikimedian in Residence" initiative in St.Petersburg.
  • Cooperating with local authorities, organizations, and individuals to receive grants and other materials to promote free knowledge in St. Petersburg.
  • Working on the Creative Commons contents for Wikimedia Commons.
  • Involving in GLAM.

  • First wiki-meetup in Russia was organized by Wikimedians from St. Petersburg on May 1, 2005
  • Wiki-project "St. Petersburg" in the Russian Wikipedia was started on May 6, 2006
  • First Wiki-Conference in Russia also was held in St. Petersburg on Oct 27-28, 2007.
  • Since then, more than 50 wiki meetings have been held in St. Petersburg.
  • We were before active with the name of Wikimedians of Saint Petersburg User Group, but because of disengagement of the contact persons, we have been derecognized.
