Wikimania will need interpreters between English and French, German, Spanish, and Italian. (Language pairs needed: En <--> Es, En <--> De, En <--> Fr, En <--> It )
The interpretation does not have to be diplomat-perfect; excellent amateur interpreters are welcome.
Interpreting scholarships
[edit]We hope to have professional interpreters for our keynote and other main speakers.
We are also looking for volunteer professional and skilled amateur interpreters, and can offer a small scholarship to help bring them to the conference. For interpreters who can interpret in both directions for one of the above language pairs, and who are available for all three days of the conference, we offer: travel reimbursement (enough to cover transportation within Europe), a conference pass, 4-5 days' room and board in Frankfurt, and a small stipend, depending on how much interpreting you will be expected to do. You are also invited to come on one of the trips about the city on Monday, after the end of the conference.
For those who would like to interpret for just one or two days, get in touch with us and we will see what we can work out.
This is a technical conference, with a variety of wiki, computer, and legal jargon. Full sets of slides and papers will be available two weeks before the conference. You will be asked to interpret for between 3 and 6 hours a day.
If you are interested, please send email to wikimania-info@wikimedia.org
, or add yourself to the appropriate list below. Make sure to indicate what languages you can interpret into, and what languages you can interpret from.
