From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Primary Wikimedia projects:

Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikisource, and Wikidata.

Region:
  • Language capabilities (language and level of proficiency):
    • Arabic: Native
    • English: Fluent
  • Regional experiences: In the early days of my Wikimedia journey, I was active in editing within the Wiki Females project, which later led me to organizing projects across the broader Wikimedia movement. Being part of the broader movement is a consequence of my work as a Wikipedia editor. I have conducted and co-organized numerous workshops to bridge the gender gap, document the writings of authors, update guidelines, and add missing images to Wikipedia. My regional experience also includes leading and participating in impactful campaigns such as WikiGap, #SheSaid, and WikiForHumanRights, emphasizing gender equity and human rights awareness.
I have been involved in supporting Wikimedia Libya as an emerging community, helping to strengthen its presence while starting efforts to establish the Arabic Wikidata Community and reviving the Arabic Wiktionary project. My work has also extended to Wikisource, where I contributed to preserving Arabic literary heritage. Additionally, I’ve actively supported emerging communities and contributed to discussions around the Wikimedia Charter.
I have dedicated my efforts as a member of the Leadership Development Working Group (LDWG), which focuses on defining leadership in the Wikimedia context, building a leadership development plan, and implementing that plan. I have translated the leadership definition into Arabic and the feedback surveys for the definition, and I took the lead in making sessions for my community to introduce the definition and collect feedback.
I have also participated in the universal code of conduct (UCOC) and attended Wiki Arabia Algeria and Wikimania Singapore where I lead 3 sessions. By joining Wiki Women* Task Force, I will multiply my knowledge and magnify the real action of my interactions and experiences.

As a lifelong learner, I see joining the Wiki Women* Task Force as an opportunity to enhance my leadership skills and contribute to creating inclusive spaces within the Wikimedia movement.
Joining the Wiki Women* Task Force will allow me to apply the previous experiences into empowering women and underrepresented voices, fostering leadership that amplifies diverse contributions across the Wikimedia movement.

    • My goal in joining the Wiki Women* Task Force is to empower underrepresented voices by fostering inclusivity and equity, leveraging my leadership experience to develop sustainable models that support women leaders in Wikimedia. Drawing on my work with initiatives like Wikimedia Libya, the Arabic Wiktionary revival, and the Leadership Development Working Group, I aim to drive knowledge sharing, collaboration, and policy advocacy, ensuring safer and more equitable spaces that address systemic barriers for women contributors and amplify their impact through more content and contributions.
Most of the groups I work with are led by women or have significant female representation. However, such opportunities are not always available. I aim to join this task force to institutionalize and systematize women's presence, ensuring that leadership is not limited to one woman but expands to include many women actively participating and thriving.
  • How do you work across diverse group?
    • My approach includes using clear and accessible language tailored to the audience, facilitating discussions that encourage collaboration, and mediating conflicts with fairness and respect. I leverage digital tools and multilingual communication to bridge gaps, as demonstrated in initiatives like the Leadership Development Working Group, where I translated resources and facilitated discussions in Arabic.
