- Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)
Wikimedia Movement has committed towards developing recommendations that will empower Volunteers, communities, affiliates and staff members to achieve our Strategic direction. How can we best work towards our priorities of knowledge equity and knowledge as a service?
Our strategic direction means different things to different people. This is intentional, because local context matters. Being a global movement also means being well connected, and bringing those voices to the conversation that have been missing from our discussions.
There has been progress in this direction, Working Groups have been formed, discussions regarding scope of the Working Groups are under progress. How do community members participate? What is their feedback to the Working Groups? How can the questions, concerns and ideas of the African communities be discussed by the Working Group members? Are there resources and ideas that will inform the discussions? Which voices are we missing? What concerns are not being addressed effectively? The workshop will try to capture questions regarding Movement Strategy Process and build bridges among the Working Group members and the Volunteer communities.
