Hi Tegel

You sent me a msg (no vandalism)if you remember it Well, i edited only some spam information nothing more and now i cant edit anymore because i'm blocked Can you help me out with this missunderstanding? Please reply— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nick.bisha (talk)

If you refer to your edit on sq.wikipedia that was no spam that you deleted. So no, I can't help you with the block. -- Tegel (Talk) 20:53, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove my userboxes

I know that you removed my admin userbox I was about to comfort you before the message and yes I'm not an administrator but I like the decoration on my User:Page.
Please don't remove my userboxes.
I have a testing corner that you could edit on.
Thank you.
Battle of Z 2: God on God talk

When you have that template on your user page it will end up in this category: Category:Meta-Wiki administrators. And since your not an admin that is wrong. And regarding your edit comment, I'm a real admin here. -- Tegel (Talk) 00:30, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I honestly don't care why/or if it appears there I'm keeping that on my User:Page, this is your last warning or I'll go to a real administrator (which you aren't).
Please use the testing corner .
Thank you.
Battle of Z 2: God on God talk

Here you can find a list of admins . Go ahead if you don't find me on the list. -- Tegel (Talk) 00:39, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Okay yes you're an administrator and I will stop adding myself to the admin list (also know as when I performed the transaction when I added the admin userbox)
Also did you add the rightful signatures to my User:Page? and did you try Testing Corner?
Battle of Z 2: God on God talk
Why are you ignoring me?

There is a signing function that will add your signature as well as time and date. You add it by enter four "tilde" ~~~~. There is also an icon at the top of the edit window that looks like a pen. Use that one and it will be OK. You can then customize it in the settings, but leave that for now. For testing users normally use the sandbox that you can find here Meta:Sandbox. It's not recommended to edit another users user page. -- Tegel (Talk) 00:59, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I don't care about that signature functioning its gay and I'm not using it, I'll use these types instead you said that you knew why my signature was failing.
I don't care about the "sandbox" either and how iron this is that you were editing on my User:Page earlier but then your now saying " It's not recommended to edit another users user page."
I don't know what to do here because you said you know what's wrong suddenly your against something that you've done 40 minutes ago.
And stop replying on your own talk page its annoying.
Thank you.
Celsius829

Please don't use "gay" as a synonym for "bad". It's offensive to many users. Tegel explicitly says that he will reply on his talkpage. Read the big green box at the top of the page! "If you leave a message here, I will reply here. In normal case I will not reply by e-mail." You should have read this before commenting here. Also, ~~~~ will add whatever your signature is set to in preferences. It's okay if you want to change it to basically copy Cekli829's, but you should at least put that in your preferences and use ~~~~. If you really don't want to use four tildes, at least add five so it generates a timestamp (e.g. 02:28, 18 February 2014 (UTC)). The sandbox is basically the same idea as your testing area, so I don't understand why you like one but not the other. Best regards, PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:28, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Okay when I copied it I was supposed to change it aroundand why haven't you replied to this revision yet?
You must know it exists.

Sh.wiki

Hi, could you please block this user on sh.wikipedia, as s/he is vandalising an artile there (there seem to be no administrators around). Thanks, --Igor Windsor (talk) 20:36, 22 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I noticed that you already got some help. -- Tegel (Talk) 20:47, 22 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

porque borraste mi página?

porque borraste mi página?— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Escuela TAI (talk)

I guess that you want to know why I deleted the page that you created? Your user page is not the place for an article. It's the place for you as a user to present yourself to the rest of the community. Since your account is blocked on Commons for being a promotion-only account I assume that you know that promotional material will be deleted. The material was also off-topic material for this wiki, so that was another reason for deleting the page. -- Tegel (Talk) 23:31, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks...

...for this revert. The author is an eswikiquote LTA (who has been vandalizing since 2005 and is community-banned on that project) and I think that their edit and edit summary should be hidden, as both contain defamatory and libelous information. Kind regards, LlamaAl (talk) 22:54, 15 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

User:Possibilities

You deleted this user's page. The page was created following this welcome

"Welcome to Meta![edit]

Hello, Possibilities. Welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Happy editing! -- Meta-Wiki Welcome (talk) 14:55, 14 September 2013 (UTC)"

The user page was created due to a suggestion that user pages are essential, as are signatures. You suggested in wording on YOUR USER PAGE that after such action there would be additional comment on the "Talk" page belonging to User:Possibilities; however, there was no comment.

Was User:Possibilities creating a user page in the wrong "place"? Currently a search is underway to discover how to customize a signature for this user so there will be no misunderstanding about posts, etc.

Please help elucidate via a response.--Possibilities (talk) 16:49, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. The user page was created at the right place. The problem was that you forgot to login using your account. Because of that we couldn't know that it was the right person that created the user page. Just remember to login before editing your user page and everything should be OK. -- Tegel (Talk) 17:06, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, T....i've reestablished the user's page while logged in and hope it meets approval. If not, give me a clue...i'm usually a quick study............--Possibilities (talk) 00:14, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Now you've done it....

User:possibilities here... correcting/editing from you has provided leadership, an elevated position that attracts request for additional guidance. Having established a user page, detailed "Preferences" page and set out to explore wiki attractions in general, surprise was generated by inability to log in on other wiki pages. Information on this page: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Unified_login allows that registering a name on any wiki automatically reserves that name on all others. Attempts to log on as Possibilities, while successful on some pages was foiled on most. Can you give hope for correction? Thank you for your patience --Possibilities (talk) 01:09, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I blocked an IP-address that I consider did less constructive edits. That might have been someone else that had the same IP-address before you. I have changed the block so you can login with your account. -- Tegel (Talk) 12:04, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Intervju för exjobb?

Hej

-- Tegel (Talk) 12:40, 30 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I owe you

Really want to thank you and User:Savh for reverting the vandal. And yup, they reveal my age, so hope your respect towards me has not fallen off the cliff ;) - Anyways, do you have any ideas to prevent these users? I am guessing this is from my school. Because no other vandal would know my age. --Goldenburg111 20:06, 30 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tegel-- I just created a page for Matomy Media, and while I was re-logging in (session expired)--you deleted it. It says spambots, but it was written and created by me, not a bot.

Help with deleted page

Sorry that last post seems to have gone where it shouldn't --hoping this formats it correctly. It has been some time since I last worked with wikis. I wrote and created the page for Matomy Media that you deleted. I had to log back in since my session was expired, and you marked it as spambots...which it is not. Can I add it back? Denisegabbard (talk) 14:08, 1 May 2014 (UTC)DenisegabbardReply

The deletion reason say "Bot/spambot/promotional page". It's one deletion reason for all these reasons. In this case I chose between "promotional page" or "Out of project scope". Both these reasons are valid for the page that you created. Read Meta:Inclusion policy for more information. If you want to create an article about a company that is considered noticeable enough, that article goes on Wikipedia, not Meta. -- Tegel (Talk) 14:13, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Global rename?

Hi Tegel, could you help rename me globally to "Graphium"? I think it would be far too tedious to go to every single project listed here to ask for rename. Thanks. --Arctic Kangaroo (talk) 17:24, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have requested for rename personally at Commons and mswiki, where I'm more active at the moment. Please do not rename me on enwiki yet as I'm blocked and would not like to confuse ArbCom and (mainly) the community when I request unblock or return in future. That I would settle when I'm unblocked, also as a "fresh start". --Arctic Kangaroo (talk) 17:40, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
FYI, stewards cannot currently rename on wikis with local bureaucrats. See SRUC for information on what we can do. Ajraddatz (talk) 19:02, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ok...I think I will wait for the SUL finalisation. Hopefully it does not take too long... --Arctic Kangaroo (talk) 19:31, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
If my username is only changed on certain wikis, including Commons, then would it jeopardise the replacement part of the file moves? Some of them require my account on another wiki, which most likely is still "Arctic Kangaroo", to replace old file names with new ones. BTW please help to rename me here on Meta. Thanks! Arctic Kangaroo (talk) 04:19, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
If you rename your account on one wiki that account is by it's own. There is no connection to your accounts with the old name. So if some wikis have requirements that you also have edits on other wikis that can be a problem. Specially since you're blocked on your home wiki where you have the majority of your edits. But that is up to that wiki to decide if it's a problem or not. So you have to ask on Commons if that will have any effect on your permissions. For changing your user name here on Meta you place a request on Meta:Changing username. -- Tegel (Talk) 12:02, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info Tegel. --Arctic Kangaroo (talk) 13:41, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
No problem. Just bear in mind that renaming your account is not a way to get around your block on enwp. -- Tegel (Talk) 13:53, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

My apology to Tegel

Dear Tegel , I feel the need to apologize to you for any misunderstandings that you had been expiriencing in the past at the Macedonian wikipedia. With special respect for you and best wishes, Friend, RM.

Thanks. And who are you? And what misunderstandings? -- Tegel (Talk) 23:19, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Dear Tegel, I can not reveal my identity. I just wanted to tell you that you are welcome at Macedonian wikipedia and in Macedonia. Unfortunately, we will not have further contacts. My best regards!-Counterintelligence (talk) 23:30, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK. If you are familiar to the wiki-community, and I think that you have made some contributions before, why do you remove your signature? -- Tegel (Talk) 23:35, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Dear Tegel, I am very sorry that we can not continue our conversation. Again I am sorry for any misunderstandings. I saw on mk.wiki some dubious suggestions (such as State enemy etc.). You can find them yourself. Well, now I am convinced that these opinions do not have any grounds. My apologies again. Sincerely yours, -Counterintelligence (talk) 23:57, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

P.S. Sorry that we will not have further communication.

Dear Tegel, you may hide or archive all conversation relating to the apology. Best Wishes!

Guidelines

Sorry, I can't point to much guidelines on meta other than good sense. I am afraid that some users are treating metawiki not as the collaborative environment that it was meant. I am sure that you and the other colleagues will be of help in making - as usual - the best choices. Thank you, M/ (talk) 14:27, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

The thing is that there is no guidelines about this. Ottava Rima brings the way of working from enwiki when it comes to talk pages. If I would enforce the way of working from svwiki he would be blocked by now. -- Tegel (Talk) 14:34, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Anyway he seems to be complaining for a block of mine. If you review that, I'd be happy with your decision. --M/ (talk) 14:36, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
There is nothing on sv.wiki that would result in me being blocked. However, there are multiple policies that would result in M7 being blocked. He clearly called someone racist and blocked the individual when there was no racist comment and he was involved. No Wiki allows that to happen. I am already talking to two stewards on mIRC about M7's strange behavior and his willingness to disregard our norms on Meta. Ottava Rima (talk) 14:37, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Removing other users comments from your talk page after been told not to do so might get you blocked on svwiki. It's considered the same as comments on article talk pages. I know that enwiki works different, and the problem is that everyone bring their own way of working to Meta and think that it works the same way on all wikis.
The block is made by a Meta admin, so I don't know what a Steward can do. I don't see a need for emergency desysop. -- Tegel (Talk) 14:50, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've asked around, and no one backs up your claims about sv.wiki. It would be absurd to make such a claims, especially with archiving. User pages universally are treated as the domain of the user, and people are startled by your comments. You need to provide hard proof of what you are saying. Also, it is hypocritical for you to make the claim when you above said to a user: "Can we keep the discussion where it started, on your talk page on en.wikibook?" I merely stated that the conversation needed to stay in one place instead of moving all over. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:01, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
It would be interesting to know who you asked, so I can point both them and you to the guidelines.
Yes, I wanted to continue the discussion on en.wikibook where it started. I didn't remove the comment from this page. -- Tegel (Talk) 15:35, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
So you are saying that if the user continued to post here, you would let them? And I asked in an open room in IRC. I don't necessarily know the Wiki names to match. It shouldn't matter because if you had a link you would have posted it. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:48, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, if they continue here I would let them. Then if I like it or not that is something else.
If it was users active on svwiki they would know where to find the information since it's in one of the guidelines. I understand that it's not known for users not active on svwiki. -- Tegel (Talk) 16:15, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but the user was active and flatout denied it. This was pointed out. You had multiple chances. It is obvious that the guidelines do not say what you are claiming. This would result in a block on you if what you said was true. There are many such instances where you reverted items that were not clear vandalism or anything "inappropriate" other than it may have annoyed you. Ottava Rima (talk) 16:56, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Then the user can start a local discussion about that. That is nothing that we should discuss here. Interesting example you found. That was considered inappropriate by one admin and another admin blocked the account. The blocked user had used a number of accounts to vandalise and act inappropriate before this contribution. I rarely get annoyed by anything on-wiki. It's not worth the energy. If I did things that is not supported by the guideline and how the local community interpret the guidelines and policy's, how long do you think that I would remain an admin? -- Tegel (Talk) 17:25, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Many admin stay a long time when they are not abiding by how the community interprets guidelines. We handle such problems often on Meta. Sometimes, the Foundation has even had to step in. Stewards exist for one of those reasons. As for the local guidelines, they do not prohibit you from removing things from user talk pages as you suggested and you still haven't proven otherwise. However, skimming the history of your talk page shows a lot of removals for very little. Ottava Rima (talk) 17:47, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
If you have been reading up on svwiki I'm sure that you have seen that all admin positions is only temporary. Everyone need to go thru a re-election once a year. So once a year the community will go thru the contributions and see if they want to support the user for another year. It seems like we have different opinions of the definition "a lot of removals" so there we just have to agree to disagree. -- Tegel (Talk) 18:25, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sigh, your response is disjointed to what I said. Either you are not responding to my words or there is an unconquerable language barrier. Ottava Rima (talk) 19:09, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I thought that we where discussing svwiki. Regarding language, check my user page. -- Tegel (Talk) 19:18, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

User talk page guideline

Tegel, you asked on User talk:M7 about any guideline regarding the right of a user to remove material from their own talk page. This allowance is widespread, but is often not documented. It is, however, documented on enwiki: w:WP:OWNTALK. --Abd (talk) 02:43, 26 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

That is the problem that I see. There is no written guideline on Meta and everyone bring the guideline from their home wiki and expect that it works the same on all 840 wikis. We need a better understanding that different wikis do thing is a different way. -- Tegel (Talk) 09:59, 26 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Based on that logic, you have no right to threaten or bully others for removing stuff on their guidelines. You would be imposing rules (that have been proven to not exist) to move for a block. Making up stuff twice and imposing it on the Wiki is scary behavior. 184.242.71.119 14:50, 27 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your recent changes on et.wp

There is an ongoing project to transfer the contents of a lexicon into Estonian Wikipedia, as the contents of the biographical lexicon of Estonian scientists have been donated to et.wp. As some of the subjects already had articles, they have to be merged manually. It is important to keep track on which articles have been merged and which are not. Please do not spoil the work of other people you are clueless about, especially in a language you can't understand and in someone else's userspace. Thanks you for minding this, starting now. --146.255.183.164 23:59, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

The Kalle Stropp vandal again?

Hi, Tegel. You blocked 90.224.246.99, the "Kalle Stropp vandal", globally a while back, until Oct 2014. It looks like 192.36.199.133 may be either the same person or an independent, almost as disruptive, individual. They have the same interests. I was going to block them on en.wiki, but if you've got time, perhaps you might as well take a look at them with a view to a possible global lock. Compare their talkpage and the discussion here on my page. They also have a little brother, 192.36.199.130, who edited in June and then stopped (=presumably hopped over to 192.36.199.133). A range block of 192.36.199.128/29 would cover them both and maybe more of the same family, but I'm sure you know more about that stuff than I do. Bishonen (talk) 18:30, 4 August 2014 (UTC).Reply

I would say it's the same person so I placed a global block on 192.36.199.133. It's a higher probability that the user comes back on the 90.XXX.XXX.XXX serie that belong to the biggest ISP in Sweden. The IP 192.36.199.133 and the one around it is a little bit sensitive to block as a range because it can cause collateral damage. -- Tegel (Talk) 21:43, 4 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

StewardScript

Hello Tegel. I updated your global.js page to the latest version of StewardScript. (Billinghurst's version was merged into the official one.) This is mainly to enable automatic updates, but it also includes a few fixes. If you notice any problems or have questions, let me know! :) —Pathoschild 04:25, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. -- Tegel (Talk) 10:23, 26 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

On art. Igor Janev

With due respect to Tegel, I do not see that further prosecution of articles about Igor Janev make any sense. Regards.— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 77.234.45.130 (talk)

I guess that you refer to the article that I deleted on Wikipedia in Swedish. You are welcome to take the discussion on the talk page sv:Diskussion:Igor Janev and explain why you create an article in English and something that appear to be machine translated. May I assume that you are Igor Janev himself? In that case I would recommend you to read sv:Wikipedia:Intressekonflikter. -- Tegel (Talk) 09:08, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
No, I am not I. Janev. As far as I understand, He decided not to be on Wikies. 77.234.45.133 10:59, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Help

Hello Tegel. You wrote to me that I wrote to you. I ask you to unlock name Alexander Tatarnikov. I guarantee that this person is a reference to the media. Just happened some misunderstanding. Therefore, we ask for the unlock of the name. You could help us in this?— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Conors7 (talk)

If you want changes to the blacklist you have to place a request on Talk:Title blacklist. -- Tegel (Talk) 19:12, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I wrote there, but I do not know whether this response is positive. Misunderstandings will never be. We are for the good. You can unlock? -- Conors7
You have placed the request and now you have to wait for the users working with the Title Blacklist for their decision. Have you tried to create he page about Alexander Tatarnikov before? Do you know why it's on the blacklist? -- Tegel (Talk) 19:39, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Were uploaded his still lifes and landscapes. Were also uploaded and space paintings. Creativity symbolizes good. Everything was fine, and then out of nowhere there was a misunderstanding. Conors7
So what was the misunderstanding? And have you had an account before? -- Tegel (Talk) 20:14, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes there were. It seems to be a conflict of interest. Conors7
It's never a good idea to create pages when there is a conflict of interest. It can be difficult to stay neutral. So have you had accounts before? -- Tegel (Talk) 20:54, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi

I have saw your question on the Wiktionary Swahili 71.7.174.179 talk page and Wiktionary is a dictionary from various languages to one language. For instance, en.wikt have many entries of various languages such as Chinese, Malay, German etc and the meaning and the information of the entry are written in English. Hope thats help ːD --Malaysiaboy (talk) 13:55, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Malaysiaboy: Sorry to butt in, but I think Tegel knows what the purpose of Wiktionary is, and was asking the IP editor if he knew. The IP has been creating many pages that wouldn't belong in a dictionary, like sw:wikt:Ethiopian Airline. PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:17, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
(Edit conflict.)
Hi. Thanks for your reply. I'm aware of what Wiktionary is. I asked the user behind 71.7.174.179 if they know what it is. The reason why I asked was that the user created short pages with only a link to Wikipedia in Swahili. Pages that is off-topic on Wiktionary and should be deleted. Sometimes pages that doesn't even exist on Wikipedia, like this page. If you speak Swahili you might want to try to explain that to the user. -- Tegel (Talk) 15:26, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oooh. Opps Didn't know about that x-x Sorry. --Malaysiaboy (talk) 15:45, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm really sorry for answering your question as if you didn't knew it. I was reading it in a different intonation so that's made me misunderstood. Happy late new yearǃ --Malaysiaboy (talk) 13:18, 4 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
No problem. It can be difficult some times to get the intention correct in writing so it can't be misunderstood. -- Tegel (Talk) 18:02, 4 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Minor request

Hi Tegel. I noticed (thank you!) that you oversighted two revisions by a globally-banned user to my user and user talk pages on Wikiquote (by 172.56.1.23, and 208.54.64.130). This editor has been harassing me for almost nine years, and now is making unambiguous death threats, so I am reporting all incidences of harassment to the United States FBI as well as the police in Chicago and River Grove, Illinois. I know his name and where he lives. Would you be so kind as to e-mail me the contents of the edit summaries? A screenshot would be even better because the FBI field office would have no way of reading the diff. Thank you in advance, Antandrus (talk) 22:07, 15 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Turkish Wikipedia

Hi Tegel, these we're discussing. Introduction to some substance in the Turkish Wikipedia URLs are blocked out. It is believed that in Turkey, the government agency responsible for the internet makes. Protest purpose, we think you should block access for 24 hours. In this case, we need to tell Jimmy Wales. Or Do you need to make a vote in Meta. Good wikis. --Uğurkenttalk 16:54, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Sorry for not coming back earlier. This is not something that I can help with. You might want to check with Wikipedia in English how they handle their black out. -- Tegel (Talk) 19:18, 24 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Unreasonable reasons for a block on Wikispecies

Hi Tegel, We have BIG problems on WS with aggressive territoriality. I have just been blocked for 1 day (no doubt just the first in a series of unjustified blocks aimed at progressing to an indefinite block) for two entirely unjustified reasons: (1) that I "provoked a reaction" from User:Mariusm; and (2) that I had a minor disagreement with another editor (who didn't complain, and we hadn't finished trying to find a resolution). As for (1), Mariusm put an abusive warning on my talk page in response to what he claimed to be an "edit conflict", but which was no such thing! I merely edited the noinclude section of a template for which I was the only contributor! The fact that he was simultaneously editing another page which used the template is irrelevant! Unfortunately, the only active crat (Dan Koehl) is supporting the territorial admins, and the other admins don't want to get caught in the crossfire. Surely, a steward can step in to revert an unjustified block when local procedures and governance have broken down? Please help Stho002 (talk) 02:19, 22 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. As Snowolf have explained on Stewards' noticeboard this is a local issue and Stewards can't overthrow local decision and consensus. -- Tegel (Talk) 10:26, 22 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
