[edit]Hello MRamirez (WMF). Since you're active and creating many accounts, at least one of which are getting blocked on English Wikipedia for impersonating staff (and probably being used for non-WMF business), I'd like to request a couple of things. First, if there's going to be a naming convention, please ensure it's one that everyone sticks to. We need to be able to rely on being able to filter out impersonations. Second, please add a summary when creating an account, even it's trivial. That way it looks far less rogue. Third, please add something to your global user page. This is how we check things. Look at all the information it provides. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 10:25, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- From my discussion with Zzuuzz on my enwiki talk page... Are you informing new staff what they can and cannot use a WMF account for? Why aren't you assigning the staff usergroup so that we're not reliant on an easily spoofed naming convention? Cabayi (talk) 11:16, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- Unlike Zzuuzz, I tend to verify via central auth - Special:CentralAuth/MRamirez (WMF). Cabayi (talk) 11:18, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- Follow up on this, is the WMF staffer naming convention changed from "User:Username (WMF)" to "User:Username-WMF" now? There are some abusefilters etc on various projects that try to exclude WMF people. — xaosflux Talk 13:13, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Ping to JSutherland (WMF) as there appear to have been no responses to similar queries above. — xaosflux Talk 13:16, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: Please see JSutherland's response at en:User_talk:Cabayi/Archive_8#BKots. It's stated that there is a transition to a new naming convention, which means there's two at the same time. I've been wondering if this should be documented somewhere, but couldn't think of anything. Also, thanks MRamirez if you listened to my above requests (as you seem to have acted on them). -- zzuuzz (talk) 08:26, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks zzuuzz, I updated Special:AbuseFilter/233 - will check for others. — xaosflux Talk 09:20, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
