Türkmençe

[edit]

Jon Harald Søby 21:21, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

DumZiBot's project statistics

[edit]

Hi, Nicolas, how are you doing? I was looking into how we can get cool statistical tables for assessment & importance like the one at Projet:Langues, and saw that your bot was the one doing the labour here on frwiki. I was wondering if you could help me with setting it up on nowiki as well? Having such statistics for our language project would be very useful, and I am sure there are other projects that would like that as well. Are you on IRC so we can chat about it? Jon Harald Søby (d) 28 octobre 2009 à 20:02 (CET)

Hello Jon.
Sorry for being late on this. How did it turn out eventually?
It's taking me time, but I'm in the process of publishing my scripts so that community can have them and improve them while I'm away. (I'm obviously lacking time for all of this) statistics.py on http://bitbucket.org/nicdumz/wikipedia-dumzibot might help, if you havent tackled that issue yet.
Cheers, and sorry for the long delay.

Global user pages & JavaScript & CSS

[edit]

Hello Jon Harald Søby. You now have user pages on every wiki, and global JavaScript & CSS, as you requested on User:Pathoschild/Scripts/Synchbot. You can see sortable logs of each page edited or skipped at User:Pathoschild/Scripts/Synchbot/Archives/Jon Harald Søby. —Pathoschild 00:13:23, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

Jon Harald Søby/Archive, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List_of_administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

I don't think you actually need that advice, do you? :) It was unanimous... Welcome back! ++Lar: t/c 01:06, 24 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yay! Welcome back Jon. --dferg ☎ talk 07:38, 24 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

your answer needed

[edit]

Hello Jon Harald!
There are a few unanswered questions on Talk:Language committee. As a member of the language committee, I am kindly asking you to reply to the users' concerns posted there. Please don't be offended if the tone of my last posting there sounds a bit harsh, as I was a little disappointed because some questions weren't responded to in a while. Thank you!

I see that you has "promoted" me for being a good user. I am glad that someone considers me to be good at something....XD XD --Marctaltor 07:44, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

No problem; Meta didn't have the autopatrol class before, which made the patrolling tool virtually useless (because every single edit by a non-admin had to be checked), but now that it does there is a huge backlog of users that should be put on autopatrol, amongst them you. :-) Jon Harald Søby 11:12, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you --me too

[edit]

So yes, same as above --am an autopatrolle now...yaay! :) Thanks JHS!--Moushira 17:04, 11 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to Mr. Soby, for his work in strengthening the project by boosting contributor moral. The project would benefit greatly with more editors like you! Adamtheclown 16:45, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the barnstar. I have never seen one here except for the barnstars I have given out.

The python barnstar is a little erroneous, since I know next to nothing about it and am writing the guide more for myself in the future than anything else. :) I am afraid people will start asking me questions.

At least three of my user names have been involved in creating those python pages, with roughly 30% of the content.

I am so used to wikipedia where I dread a new message on my talk page. Nice to see so many kind people here! Adamtheclown 16:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Aww, thanks yourself!
I chose the barnstar with a robot in it because it seemed very relevant to the things you were doing, hehe. Learning by doing, that's the wiki spirit. ;-) Jon Harald Søby 18:36, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the new user rights.
What is amazing is how little I know about python. I have several hundred edits explaining the process here, and yet I know next to nothing about python. I think often the most novice users can write the best guides.
I am here though because I need help. I am unable to get my script to work.
I have posted on the IRC chat for two days in a row, with no response. The pages I edit seem rather dead.
Do you know anyone by name who can maybe help me? the great thing about helping me is that I will add this information to this mediawiki helping others and reducing the number of questions and confusion in the future.
I look forward to your response. Thank you in advance. Adamtheclown 18:39, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
You can try the pywikipedia mailing list, there are lots of helpful people there; should do the trick. Jon Harald Søby 18:48, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sure, I will try it. Thank you. Adamtheclown 18:59, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome templates

[edit]

Hi! When wishing people welcome, you must subst the template. This is done by writing {{subst:welcome}} instead of {{welcome}}. If you do not do this, the template will display an ugly error message. Jon Harald Søby 10:24, 30 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Təşəkkür edirəm! Thank you very much!--Cekli829 05:10, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Translation Update

[edit]

I want to thank you for your help translating throughout this year's fundraiser. The fundraiser has greatly benefited from all your contributions. Currently, the Kartika, Liliaroja, Abbas and Joan Gomà appeals need to be translated, as we are running appeals from editors. You can find all translation requests at the translation hub on meta and you can follow the progress of the fundraiser in real time by tracking the fundraiser statistics. It is important to check the Core Messages as many languages still need updating. Also if you haven't already, you can subscribe to the translators-l mailing list for all new requests and major changes. Many thanks for your help in truly making this a global fundraiser that you can edit.Klyman 19:46, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
