New tabs

[edit]

Hi, DannyS712. I can't find somehow the talk page we're talking there all the time. If I find it, I'll move this topic over there. I can see that now you open all the links in the new tabs. If so, my css selectors for diff links will not work any longer. Is there a chance I can ask you to add some arbitrary css class on diff links, so I could use it as the new selector? Thank you, IKhitron (talk) 16:37, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sure, Doing... --DannyS712 (talk) 16:41, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Done - class is globalWatchlist-diff --DannyS712 (talk) 16:45, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot! IKhitron (talk) 13:07, 4 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hook

[edit]

Hello again. I met a couple of situations when I'd like to run some private javascript code on the global watchlist. But everything I tried to catch the right moment did not work, because you are using it by yourself. Most of the times nothing happens, and sometimes I get infinite loop - my code waits for you to finish and vice versa. I'm not a fan of timers that try something all the time until it happens. Is there a way that you'll provide a hook each time after output complete, reload or refresh, so some code could run just after that, or some similar solution? Thank you. Sorry, didn't see this. I'll try to take a look soon --DannyS712 (talk) 01:47, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, I'll be glad. IKhitron (talk) 11:05, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Bad sites

[edit]

@DannyS712: On a private fork, I was trying to add support for wiki.openstreetmap.org but didn't succeed. Is it achievable, with the current code? NMaia (talk) 06:49, 20 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@NMaia I do not believe it is, no DannyS712 (talk) 15:28, 20 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Beta

[edit]

Hi, DannyS712. Does this mean there is a way I can try the new extension? IKhitron (talk) 23:24, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

It is now available at https://meta.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:GlobalWatchlist (though its not working at the moment due to unrelated issues) DannyS712 (talk) 23:27, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, DannyS712. Indeed. But as I can see, one can't check it properly because it does not have an access to "real" wikis. IKhitron (talk) 00:30, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Correct - it shows your watchlist on the beta cluster wikis DannyS712 (talk) 00:31, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sad smiley. IKhitron (talk) 01:51, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Open changed pages at once?

[edit]

Hello, DannyS712. I am using Global Watchlist 24/7, because it is convenient, but I wonder if it would be possible to add a button to each wiki header with which all changes will be opened at once. Now I have to click every single change, return to Global watchlist, and click another changed page, etc. etc. If all changes of any wiki could be opened in new tabs at once (perhaps with a maximum of say ten), that would be great, at least to me, but probably to others too. Greeting, Eissink (talk) 13:14, 29 January 2021 (UTC).Reply

Sorry, I'm not currently working on improving the user script, since I'm working to create a MediaWiki extension to replace it instead DannyS712 (talk) 05:36, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah, right. Well, all the better, I guess. Eissink (talk) 07:53, 1 February 2021 (UTC).Reply

Deployment

[edit]

Hi, DannyS712. I understand the new extension will be on Meta in 47 hours. Congrajulations. Is there a link on Special:Watchlist, as in the script, in all wikis? IKhitron (talk) 17:50, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

No, it will only be linked from the watchlist on meta DannyS712 (talk) 19:17, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
A pity. Thanks. IKhitron (talk) 19:34, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Documentation?

[edit]

What is this; where is the documentation? I'm looking for a screenshot of what this is for and also whether it's useful now that there is the Global Watchlist or what the difference to that is. Prototyperspective (talk) 14:28, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, @Prototyperspective. This is the previous version of the Global Watchlist. When it was good enough, the code was moved to MediaWiki and became the Special:GlobalWatchlist. It was useful at first, when there was a small limit for wiki sites number on MediaWiki version, but since the limit was removed it can be used only by those who need two global watchlists for some reason. Also, the script wasn't updated with all fixes and upgrades from the Special Page. IKhitron (talk) 14:35, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for this info here. I think that would be good to add to some documentation page linked from the js page and/or in the comment at the top of the script. Prototyperspective (talk) 14:37, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seems like there is some documentation at User:DannyS712/Global watchlist – why is it not linked from the script? A link is missing in that case. Prototyperspective (talk) 14:51, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
