Welcome to Meta!

Hello Avicennasis/Archive!, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). SRSD
[edit]Hi! Thanks for your work at SRSD. Since you seem to be reporting manually anyway, have you noticed that there's also a "manual requests" section on the page? That might get you a better response time since I assume more people watch the main page than the bot-reported one. Jafeluv 11:17, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sure. I haven't been using the manual section since I figured the bots would make the stewards/global sysops jobs' easier, (since the bot will remove deleted pages from the bot section for them.) I had assumed the response time would be the same, since the Bot section is transcluded to SRSD anyway. I hadn't thought about peoples' watchlists, however - that's a good point. 68 watchers for the Bot page vs. 106 for the main page. :) I'll start posting under the manual section. Via esperantofrazo
[edit]Saluton, Avicennasis.
Do via frazaro estas gramatike malĝusta. Amike --Tlustulimu 06:58, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Utilisateur:AvicBot
[edit]Hello Avicennasis
Thank you for running Utilisateur:AvicBot on ln:. Would you mind to ask for a bot flag on ln: or for a global bot flag? Thank you very m uch. --195.28.224.59 12:41, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- No prob. I had a Steward flip the switch from here, since LnWp has no local 'Crats. :) Avic (talk) 20:45, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hello. That's the same on frwiki. You will find a link to the bot status requests on your bot talk page. Thanks -- Quentinv57 (talk) 18:30, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Submitted, thanks. :) Avic (talk) 19:02, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Translator, We need you!
[edit]Dear Avicennasis,
You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.
Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.
If you would be interested please take a look at this little sign-up survey and fill it out http://survey.wikimedia.org/index.php?sid=13638&newtest=Y&lang=en. With that we can start building a list of people and filling any gaps in the languages we serve.
Many Thanks

Question of Zazaki Wikipedia
[edit]Hello , I dont know who can help me , but i wanna tell you. There is some guy at Zazaki Wikipedia[1] and He just created 6 thousands empty articles. (Or all articles include same content) What can we do? Who can stop that Vandal? Maybe you will say , why Zazaki admins dont do anything, They are a crew (4 people). Nowadays , just [2]Mirzali and Erdemaslancan[3] keep vandalism. Btw Mirzali is admin but he doesnt really care Zazaki or rules of Wikipedia. They just try to show that , there are many articles in Zazaki. 2-3 weeks ago , there were 4000 articles but now there are 10700. and all new articles created by same person (Erdemaslancan). I wrote him yesterday. I wanted him to stop vandalism. He didnt write any other article since yesterday, but i think , this is not enough, maybe he will keep vandalism after few days. I want you to help. Have a nice day. --Gomada 14:50, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message to the admin , but as i told , that user started again. You can look at last articles , all of them have same content. He will not stop. Cant we really do anything? Gomada 00:20, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Global bot?
[edit]Hi Avicennasis. Why don't you request a global bot status here instead of requesting a bot status on every wiki? Regards, Trijnstel 20:49, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- I wasn't sure if AvicBot met the requirements, specifcally the "long-term contributions" - It's only been editing about a month (at least for the Interwiki tasks) and has less that 50k global edits, versus some of the 500k+ global bots out there. :-) But if you think that seems good enough, I'd be happy to put the request in. Avic (talk) 21:04, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
I see that your bot is active also on Wikiquote now, very nice. Do you work on all languages or is someone left out? Do you work only in standard autonomous mode or what else? I ask to know what I need to do with AnankeBot, for which I have less and less time. :) --Nemo 12:35, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- Currently, AvicBot works in all wikiquotes except for the list below. (I do plan to cover all of them eventually.) It runs in standard autonomous mode. :-) Avic (talk) 19:27, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello. Sorry not to have handled your request before, but I've been busy last months. I would need a temporary password to be able to make the changes. Can you please send it to me by mail via Special:EmailUser/Quentinv57 ? Regards, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 09:40, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

htWP: Candidates for speedy deletion
[edit]Hi Avicennasis, I've seen that you've got a "Candidates for speedy deletion" statistic (entries: 0) on your htWP user page. I've created a redirection to ht:Kategori:Pou efase, since the pages for speedy deletions are listed there (entries: 11). Cheers --Kolja21 (talk) 04:04, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
sa.wikipedia.org problem
[edit]Hi ! I want to share some problems with you, because you are connected with sa.wikipedia.org. Our admin is neglecting us. Admin is not involving us in policy making process and when we are propose some requests, then also he don't even reply us. I and many other users of sa.wikipedia.org are felt helpless against our Admin. Please guide us in this problem. if you will not take it seriously, then in future it may be a big problem of sa.wikipedia.org. NehalDaveND (talk) 10:37, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Bot flag for AvicBot on frwiki
[edit]Hello,
AvicBot was specialized in interwikis, and of course this cannot be the case anymore. That's the reason why I'd suggest you to post a new botflag request on Wikipédia:Bot/Statut. Litlok (talk) 11:14, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. I've added a note there for AvicBot. Avic (talk) 23:28, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
Global CSS/JS migration
[edit]Hello Avicennasis. You have global.js and global.css pages which contain your global scripts and styles for all wikis. Since August 19th, your global.js and global.css pages are loaded automatically on all wikis (see announcement). Since you already load them yourself on some wikis, you may experience script errors or issues like tools being added twice. I can fix that for you by merging your local scripts and styles into your global pages, and deleting the local pages with synchbot. Do you want me to do that? —Pathoschild 17:59, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi again! Feel free to add a Synchbot request or leave a message if you want me to do this; for now I'll strike you off the list. :) —Pathoschild 21:11, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- Done! You can see the list of changes on your archive page. —Pathoschild 16:53, 02 August 2015 (UTC)
- Looks perfect. Thanks! Avic (talk) 19:55, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
Problems in AvicBot on ptwiki
[edit]Hello Avicennasis!
Firstly, sorry for my bad english. Please, setting your bot (in task correct double redirects) to check if the destination page of a redirect not contains text before do edit (when a redirect is created in a page with text, generally is vandalism). Exemple. If necessary, please answer on ptwiki. Thanks! Stanglavine (talk) 18:46, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- There's not currently a setting for this - but I will submit a feature request for something to handle these cases. Avic (talk) 17:56, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
What future IdeaLab campaigns would you like to see?
[edit]Hi there,
I’m Jethro, and I’m seeking your help in deciding topics for new IdeaLab campaigns that could be run starting next year. I'm interested in hearing your preferences and ideas for campaign topics!
Here’s how to participate:
- Learn more about this consultation
- Vote on and submit new campaign topics in the AllOurIdeas Survey
- Discuss campaign topics and ask questions on the IdeaLab talk page
Take care,
I JethroBT (WMF), Community Resources, Wikimedia Foundation. 03:33, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
Future IdeaLab Campaigns results
