User talk:علاء
Hello, I noticed that global renamers stats haven't been updated since 8 September 2023 so I have written new code to update them. I can run my bot if Steinsplitter doesn't plan to restart theirs. Code published at User:DreamRimmer/globalrenamerstats.py. – DreamRimmer (talk) 14:40, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello DreamRimmer, I'm grateful for your interest in updating Global renamers/Stats. I had previously sent to Steinsplitter about this point on 1 November 2024 (about a month and a half ago), but I didn't get any answer, seems to be busy with other things. Anyway, I have mentioned Steinsplitter here, and I think you can -thank you- run the bot to update the page as soon as possible, so we can benefit from it again because of its importance. Will the bot update match the current page layout? --Alaa :)..! 19:02, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- The old bot was sorting the list by the number of renames, but I am sorting it by timestamp. I am only updating the current renamers (including stewards and bots with one or more rename logs), while the old bot was updating all-time renamers. The list layout remains the same as the old one. Please check out User:DreamRimmer/Global renamer stats. Do I need to file a new bot request to run this and for a bot flag? – DreamRimmer (talk) 01:55, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- DreamRimmer, thanks for the clarification. I think the User:DreamRimmer/Global renamer stats is fine. SteinsplitterBot was updating the page twice a day, but I don't see the need for that, once a day is enough. What you think?
- Usually, for low-edit task, especially edits here to update specific statistics, a bot flag is not required, unless we don't want the edit to appear in the recent changes, for example. I would like to hear Xaosflux's opinion. --Alaa :)..! 16:53, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Steinsplitter: any desire to get your bot running on this again? @DreamRimmer if you want to run hourly, this should be bot flagged to not annoy people. — xaosflux Talk 20:02, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: this is just for tracking rename counts and the last activity of renamers, so running it once or twice a day would be fine. – DreamRimmer (talk) 02:48, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- Since Steinsplitter hasn't responded in a reasonable time, I've gone ahead and set up my bot to update the global renamer stats once a day. I don't think bot flag is needed, as it will only make one edit per day. – DreamRimmer (talk) 13:20, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks DreamRimmer --Alaa :)..! 18:52, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Disruptive editor
Hi. I just wanted to draw your attention to the contributions of Aquaamjad. Basically, they are replacing all the "Morocco-X relations" maps with POV maps that they are uploading (with complete disregard to the policies and guidelines). They are also attempting to do it cross wiki. Thanks. M.Bitton (talk) 15:24, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks M.Bitton for bringing this user to my attention. The user has 57 edits in Arabic Wikipedia, only 6 of which were edits on "Morocco-X relations" articles. According to Special:CentralAuth/Aquaamjad, there was similar edits in French and English versions as well, and all edits have been reverted. In general, I warned the user on arwiki, and they has actually stopped editing since 14 January 2025. I also think it is better to follow the uploads on Wikimedia Commons. Perhaps needs to be nominated for deletion according to the policies there?. If they returns to the same edits, please notify me and I will deal with it according to local and global policies. Thank you. --Alaa :)..! 21:22, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Will do. Thank you for looking into it. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 00:28, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi again. While I can't tell whether either "102.96.229.2" or "102.100.11.14" is their IP, the latter IP is more disruptive than the former given that they created this article (POV since Morocco's southern international border is with Western Sahara, and factually incorrect given Mauritania recognizes Western Sahara and SADR controls the area that borders Mauritania) and then went on to disrupt Q30889592 on wikidata and the Mauritania–Western Sahara border on the English Wikipedia. Thank you for looking into this. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 03:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- I see that that they also created this article and are now busy pushing the same POV in various wiki projects. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by M.Bitton (talk) 14:13, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- @M.Bitton: Thanks again. After reviewing all edits, all pages were deleted, edits were reverted, and it was blocked globally. --Alaa :)..! 14:55, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Many thanks. M.Bitton (talk) 14:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you again, but was this article left on purpose? Thanks. M.Bitton (talk) 15:11, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Nope. Deleted now --Alaa :)..! 15:13, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- I thought as much. Much appreciated. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 15:14, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
