http://

[edit]

Please, remove the http protocol. That way, the https protocol will also work, but for those who access the https protocol. Websites should look like this: [//toolserver...] Sorry for bad English. PcTalk 12:25, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think I've fixed it. Regards, —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 16:37, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

GlobalBlockList

[edit]

Please add a link to Special:GlobalBlockList so non-stewards can see why an IP is globally blocked. πr2 (tc) 16:25, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

A 'glist' link has been added for this sometime in the past. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 23:37, 15 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Can we change [http://www.robtex.com/ip/{{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}}.html robtex] to [https://www.robtex.com/ip-lookup/{{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}} robtex] and [http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/{{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}} IP info] to [https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/{{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}} IP info] ? The URL format has changed and both domains also now support HTTPS. Thank you. Jon Kolbert (talk) 05:59, 27 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Done thanks for the updates.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:50, 27 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps adding an SFS link could be useful. Thoughts? Regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 23:36, 15 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Global user contributions by date

[edit]

Hi. Could someone please add an option to go directly to Global user contributions by date please? It seems the current default is only by wiki. To not disrupt current uses, we could add the default value as by wiki. Thanks. Rehman 09:51, 10 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I think this would be beneficial as well. Change this:
<span class="plainlinks" style="font-size:90%;"> [{{fullurl:toollabs:guc|user={{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}}&blocks=true}} cross-wiki-contribs]</span>
to either this:
<span class="plainlinks" style="font-size:90%;"> [{{fullurl:toollabs:guc|user={{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}}&blocks=true}} cross-wiki-contribs] ([{{fullurl:toollabs:guc|user={{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}}&by=date&blocks=true}} by date])</span>
or this:
<span class="plainlinks" style="font-size:90%;"> [{{fullurl:toollabs:guc|user={{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}}&by=date&blocks=true}} cross-wiki-contribs]</span>

incorrect URL generated for IPinfo. URLencode not needed for required parameter 1 (IPaddress, or IPaddress/bitlength)

[edit]

The current code:

https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/{{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}} ...
https://www.robtex.com/ip-lookup/{{urlencode:{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}}}

should be:

https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/{{{1|127.0.0.1}}} ...
https://www.robtex.com/ip-lookup/{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}

without the URL-encoding (this is not part of the query string, but part of the path in the URL.

Justification: the parameter is a single IPv4 or IPv6 address, using characters not needing any encoding (ASCII digits and dots "." for IPv4, or ASCII hexadecimal digits or colons ":" for IPv6), optionally followed by a slash "/" and a prefix bit length (in decimal) specifying the IP block size (that "/" must NOT be URL encoded).

In fact "urlencode:" is not needed for parameter 1 anywhre in this template (this is not the same for the request used to block Wiki usernames that must be encoded when they are submitted to an external URL request. Note: depending on the position of the parameter in URL, the "URLENCODE:" parserfunction takes a second parameter specifying its encoding form, the default form being suitable only in HTTP(s) query strings (in "param=value" pairs after the "?").

  • If the parameter is used in the path part, the second parameter of "URLENCODE:" is "|PATH" (it just encodes characters that are not suitable in HTTP(s) paths, including spaces encoded with "%20" or "+", and "?", but not the "/" and "&" which remain as is).
  • The default encoding form (when there's no second parameter or this parameter is "|QUERY") does not encode spaces, "+", or "?", but MUST encode "&", or "=".

So don't confuse the usage of URLENCODE: there are several types of URLencoding depending on which part of the URL is encoded. Additionally there are several forms for encoding parameter values in query strings, notably they can also be Base64 encoded instead of being converted in HEX form in "MIME Printable form". verdy_p (talk) 23:06, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Local contributions

[edit]

Please link the mention of the IP address to the local contributions of that IP address, as in "[[Special:Contributions/{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}|{{{1|127.0.0.1}}}]]", realized as "127.0.0.1".   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 20:19, 26 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done It isn't the purpose of this template to link to local contributions as predominantly its use is for xwiki edits. So local edits are pretty much irrelevant to its use. Alternate tools exist for local edits.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:24, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst: Thanks, I'll use the "glist" link instead.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:41, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Usually would use {{Userlinks}}  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:57, 28 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please, copy the code in this sandbox revision over to the main template. I updated the urls and improved the html structure. Thanks--Sakretsu (炸裂) 10:41, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Sakretsu: Done. Thanks. I tried to ensure I didn't break anything, if I did, apologies and feel free to revert. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 15:14, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

XTools

[edit]

Can we have an XTools link for non-ranges as well? I find it more convenient for some uses. ~~~~

Pinging @MusikAnimal, since you had implemented the XTools link in the first place. I had something like "[link1 xwiki-contribs] ([link2 XTools])" in mind. ~~~~
