Wiki version + translations
[edit]It would be helpful to link directly to parts of the full doc, and many parts of it could be usefully wikified to link to relevant parts of existing wiki pages :) Is this already planned, or would it be helpful for people to wikify it? Thoughts on other language versions? –SJ talk 20:01, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for these suggestions, SJ. We have considered wikifying it, but wanted to first see how broad the interest from the movement actually is. I think this is an excellent resource for different organizations, communities, and processes, but how does it land with others? Help is of course always appreciated, but me and my colleagues could start doing this work mid July.
- We have not yet thought about translating it, but if there is huge interest, we can surely also initiate this. What would be languages you and others would like to see the white paper being translated to, and for which audiences? --Nicole Ebber (WMDE) (talk) 13:37, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't have any personal language requests in mind. But I would like to see documents that are created / supported / facilitated by groups with many working languages (or compiled by interviewing people in a number of languages), appearing in more than just English! This doc was compiled with support from people in Germany, interviewed people from Mexico and Indonesia, and references projects from France and Catalonia. So I would at least hope for an abstract summary in de, es, id, fr, ca -- with evident ways for anyone from those communities to help translate the executive summary or the whole report. Let's shift the idea of "English as working language" to "English as language that always gets a translation". Also, assuming that this is intended as a starting point for discussion, this is another good example of a place where we need per-section or per-comment automatic translation for multilingual talk pages ;) –SJ talk 20:23, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
