First female administrator
[edit]The fact that the Education Program brought the "first female administrator" to the Arabic Wikipedia is incorrect. ar:User:نهى سلمان was the fist female Arab administrator. She was elected in 2008. Note also that ar:User:Elian was an admin on Arabic Wikipedia as well in the old days when the local community was too small but she is not an Arab. --Meno25 (talk) 15:00, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Meno25:. I adjusted the text; my understanding is Walaa is the only current female admin on arwiki, but she was not the first. Is that correct? -- LiAnna Davis (WMF) (talk) 00:27, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Ldavis (WMF): Nope. There are currently 3 female admins on Arabic Wikipedia: ar:User:لا روسا (Walaa) (promoted on 20 January 2013), ar:User:Ravan (Ravan Jaafar Altaie, see this) (promoted on 3 June 2013) and ar:User:Mervat Salman (promoted on 1 December 2013). So, we gained 3 female admins in less than a year. --Meno25 (talk) 14:27, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Meno25: thanks! Having been fortunate enough to meet Walaa, Ravan, and Mervat in person, I have to say you added some great female admins on the Arabic Wikipedia this year! :) I updated the text. -- LiAnna Davis (WMF) (talk) 17:42, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

- @Meno25: Thanks for the correction Meno. Actually the source of this piece of information was two administrators on the Arabic Wikipedia, but it would have been better if I check it out before writing. --Samir I. Sharbaty (talk) 11:32, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Samir I. Sharbaty: You're welcome. Best wishes. --Meno25 (talk) 12:17, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
