Suggestion from the jury to have an "accessibility coordinator". someone coordinating the support we can provide. --iopensa (talk) 07:57, 18 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Francesco Tarantini joint our team as coordinator of medical health, emergencies and accessibility in December 2014. A meeting about risk assessment was organized in May 2015 during the site visit and Gabriel Thullen (board member of Wikimedia CH) participated in the site visit in May 2015 to check accessibility with wheelchairs and to provide suggestions and hints to organize a more convenient event for anyone. --iopensa (talk) 07:26, 14 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Details about accessibility for all buildings, rooms, paths...

[edit]

For the bid we collected information about accessibility (steps, slopes, paths, transport, equipped toilets...). You find the remarks here and in the specific pages of the meeting rooms and accommodation (the pages about accommodation are new and we have collected detail also for around 55 apartments we will be using). We are continuing documenting and collecting details related to accessibility.

Checking the situation and providing information about it is not meant to tell people if and where they can go; it is meant to be manage the situation to allow anyone to attend and enjoy Wikimania according to his/her specific needs. The existing situation can be managed with technical interventions with the city council (as you can see for the primary school there is already a technical project to remove the barriers with an external entrance and this intervention is not included in the budget requested to the Wikimedia Foundation), with a definition of the use of each room (we need rooms also for storage or for the servers), distribution of the accommodation according to needs and preferences, planning of urban signage considering slopes (there are paths which are more direct but which might be considered less comfortable)... A medical car with lift is not necessary what a person might prefer, but it is relevant in an executive project to include this information so the team knows it can be used, that there is one available for free and that you have informed the relevant association and got their approval. --iopensa (talk) 07:24, 14 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Accessibility report

[edit]

I have uploaded an "Accessibily report" written after a site visit on May 9 2015. Comments are welcome. GastelEtzwane (talk) 11:35, 18 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
