— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nabila.selim (talk)

I'm not quite understanding what you're trying to say...something about a translation or editing possibly? --Az1568 (talk) 23:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Based on this she says that she is Egyptian and lives in Italy and that she wants to help in the translation to Arabic. --Meno25 23:15, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Changing an existing translation

[edit]

There is already a published Swedish translation, but I believe it can be improved. How do I proceed? This is the translation I would suggest:

  • Nu kan du anmäla dig till Wikimania 2009.
  • Skicka in din presentation före 15 april.

Bromskloss 14:07, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit it with the version you think is better, then change the status from "published" to "ready". Cbrown1023 talk 03:23, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please explain

[edit]

This notice is continuously linked from the banner on the Main Page of Wikipedia, yet I don't understand it at all.

  • What language(s) do you need translated to?
    • All languages — when the texts are finalized.
By "all languages", do you mean the "official languages" and "supported languages" of Wikimania wm2009:T, i.e. English, español, العربية, Deutsch, français, italiano, 日本語, polski, português, русский, 中文, 中文(简体), and 中文(繁體)?
  • Is it only those five English phrases that need translating?
    • No, the new texts are not done yet.
  • Does "cn translation status" mean "CentralNotices translation status" or "Chinese translation status"?
  • If this page is a "Draft", why is it linked from the Main Page?
    • because the page was recently updated to show new texts. The sitenotice is only linked from the English versions of the Main Pages.
  • Can't you shut off the link when your status is "No more translations please?" - and why are you saying "no more translations" when you have a list of phrases to translate?
    • Again, "no more translations" because those new phrases are not confirmed yet. As you can see, even English is "progress" and not "published". I changed the link to point to wm2009:T, where you can translate more pages.
      • I'm afraid I'm still a little confused here. The page automatically posts a link on the Main Page of English Wikipedia asking for help because new translations have been added, yet a notice "no more translations please" remains because these added translations are of unconfirmed text? I'm sorry, but calling on the public for help and then telling them not to do anything is not a good system (even if a box on the page now leads them to wm2009:T which I hate to say isn't really all that user friendly either though it's better than this one). Please, make it clear what you are talking about, and don't keep such a prominent link unless you can make it something worth linking to. Wnt 13:35, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean? It's only showing in English right now. Cbrown1023 talk 13:36, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Problem

[edit]

The Ido translation is "already published" as this page denotes but actually it isn't (see wikt:io:vorto). Can someone check this problem? Wyvernoid 05:30, 22 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Should be working.. now. It might take a few minutes before it shows up. --Az1568 (talk) 05:37, 22 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Learn more

[edit]

We have just had a translation for Strategic planning, where the phrase "learn more" figured; why are you requesting that it be retranslated? With time, there will have been made many, many CN translations, and these should be centralised, so that in the future, sentences which already have translations, do not need to be retranslated (some CNs might not even need translations at all, just update the year). V85 12:15, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

That's the *reason* we used the same string. However, from experience, there will always be some language that doesn't have "Learn more" already, so we have to list it anyway. Also, we are planning on doing what you said (just updating the year and such), so I guess great minds think alike. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 15:06, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Right to Left writing

[edit]

hey guys, Hebrew is written right to left. i've added the DIV tags to align the text to its correct place. could you please use it in this message and others? it doesn't look good when the text is aligned to the left. Tomer A. 10:35, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
