Talk:Learning and Evaluation/News/Learning Days for Wikimania Montreal/Wednesday
Add topicEmphasis on cooperation and people
[edit]In the questions
- What do you do?
- Who do you reach?
- What do you create?
- What does this change?
I would also add "who is helping you?" or "who can help you?". I think one of the weaknesses of the wikimedia associations/groups is – paradoxically - cooperation. Collaborating is actually the best way to achieve the greatest impact. --iopensa (talk) 07:42, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
To produce an impact, I think it is essential to encourage people to consider :
- stakeholders. Institutions/organisations/grant-makers who can suppor the project with resources (knowledge, networks, skills, money...), but also organisations who can follow up on, by multiplying the results of a project (i.e. WLM and all the other contests organized at an international level). Programs promoted by Wikimedia organisations can also be replicated by non Wikimedia organisations (i.e. libraries, schools, universities...).
- people. Any initiative works if there is someone and a small group of people who are committed to it and guarantee it works. It is also important to conceive programs based on existing people (if you fantasize on a program but you don't know anyone who could actually be able to work on it or accomplish its tasks - it is unlikely to work).
People make an impact. Ideas are useful to bring together and activate people :) --iopensa (talk) 08:20, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Examples formatted within the theory of change
[edit]I think that relevant examples I could be bring to the table are
- Wikipedia Primary School. How articles are normally produced, how we experimented new methodologies of producing articles, the articles produced observed through information design. We made a test in South Africa but the project is conceived as a replicable program.
- Wikimania Esino Lario. How Wikimania was set, how Wikimania Esino Lario changed the way Wikimania was normally organized to produce a specific local impact.
Maybe one or the other? --iopensa (talk) 08:20, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Presentation not accessible
[edit]@JAnstee (WMF): in Clarifying your Theory of Change with Logic Models, the Aug 9, 2017 Presentation Deck link is not accessible; could you make it accessible, or, even better, upload it on Commons? - Laurentius (talk) 12:35, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
