Talk:Europeana/1914-18/Wikimedia Romania
Add topicDear WM-RO,
To assist in helping you discover locally-relevant resources in, or local partners to, the Europeana 1914-18 ecosystem, we've compiled this list.
- Via the European Film Gateway 1914, your local GLAM partner is: Arhiva Nationala de Filme (Bucharest)
You can find Romanian content with this pre-filled search in the Europeana 14-18 collection website. If you would like help contacting these organisations, please write to Ad Pollé. Equally, Ms Sorina Stanca (Director Cluj County Library) and Ms Cristina Roiu (Head of Documentary, Analysis, International Marketing Department, Romanian Academy) are both members of the Europeana Network Association and Europeana Members Council, and therefore might be able to help you or willing to be involved in some activity.
Moreover, here is some freely available content already online:
- Content digitised at local collection days (UGC):
- Sibiu on 23/05/2014 at Biblioteca Universităţii “Lucian Blaga” http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/collection/explore/collection_day/SB01
- Bucharest on 27-28/09/2013 at Biblioteca Academiei Române (www.biblacad.ro) http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/collection/explore/collection_day/BU01
- Cluj-Napoca on 4-5/10/2013 at Biblioteca Judeţeană "Octavian Goga" (www.bjc.ro) http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/collection/explore/collection_day/CL01
Some of this might be appropriate to upload to Wikimedia Commons and use in articles.
- And all UGC content from all collection days across the continent with Romanian descriptions
- Content already on Commons from Europeana 1914-18 with captions in Romanian.
- The statistics for image usage of Europeana 14-18 files per-language Wikipedia. You could identify content already used in the English WP that is not in use on your language wikipedia, see if it might be a good candidate to add.
- Documents in Romanian on the Europeana Transcribathon portal. These could be transcribed there, the images uploaded to Commons, and/or transcribed on Wikisource.
Finally, you can also upload/contribute content to the Europeana 1914-18 website, for example by taking a relevant set of multimedia released by one of your local GLAM partners or activities under a free-license/public domain, and re-sharing it. The process for doing this is outlined at http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/contributor
This list supplements the Suggested Activities "for inspiration" & "ready to go projects" already listed on the main project page. I hope it is helpful to you.
Sincerely, Wittylama (Europeana) (talk) 15:17, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Wittylama:Thank you for your sugestions and support, too. We are a small team, and with my exception, the other are young and enthusiastic college and high school pupil. We try to do our best, unfortunately our time is quite limited.
- A request for you: could you load at Commons the immages from 2 stories loaded by us at Europeana:
- România Primului Război Mondial văzută de Albert Reich (Romania during the First World War seen by Albert Reich). Please make a sub-category in Category:World War I in Romanian art
- Un general român uitat - Alexandru Socec (A forgotten Romanian General - Alexandru Socec). Please make a sub-category in Category:Romanian generals of World War I. --Macreanu Iulian (talk) 17:29, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
@Wittylama: Do you know what happened with Europeana as we are no longer able to see our contribution there. I referred to România Primului Război Mondial văzută de Albert Reich (Romania during the First World War seen by Albert Reich) and Un general român uitat - Alexandru Socec (A forgotten Romanian General - Alexandru Socec). Also, another images that we saved from there are no longer available (we receive a sorry message said by a moving head). It is quite embarrassing. --Macreanu Iulian (talk) 12:23, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Macreanu Iulian: I will investigate! Wittylama (talk) 12:40, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for the support provided! I received from Europeana this temporary links to be used during the transitional phase of the site on the new server: http://embed.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/collection/search?contributor_id=17026&qf%5Bindex%5D%5B%5D=c&theme=minimal. It works for now. --Macreanu Iulian (talk) 06:45, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

[edit]The Europeana Barnstar | ||
In recognition of WIkimedia Romania's submitted portfolio of work, as a participant in the Europeana 1914-18 Challenge. Thank you. -- Wittylama (Europeana) (talk) 16:44, 18 August 2017 (UTC) |
Feel free to display this barnstar on a page of your preference and/or re-award it to any community member(s) who you feel is deserving of recognition for this project.
Your portfolio has been accepted and will be reviewed by the competition jury. The four category winners and one overall winning portfolio (and their respective prizes) will be announced as soon as possible and Europeana will be showcasing these portfolios on our own website and blog/social media.
We hope to see your affiliate's involvement in future Europeana-Wikimedia campaigns and competitions. In 2018 we will be organising a campaign focusing on the theme of migration and hope to see you there! Sincerely, and on behalf of the Europeana 1914-18 team, Wittylama (Europeana) (talk) 18:22, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
