French Wiktionary

[edit]

Hi ! The messages for french Wiktionary should be put on

[[Wiktionnaire:Wikidémie/{{#time:F Y}}]]

I changed it on the page, this gives

but I'm not sure if a dynamically changing link is correct for you. --ArséniureDeGallium 18:41, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

The bot parses on the local wiki, not this wiki. So it might look wrong/link incorrectly, but it will post to the proper place. --MZMcBride 20:22, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
The "#time" parser function now supports specifying a language, so the link now works properly. --MZMcBride 16:52, 27 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. --ArséniureDeGallium 09:50, 5 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Danish Wikipedia

[edit]

Danish Wikipedia's Village Pump has a nifty system where each section is on its own subpage, linked from the VP through a template: {{Brønd|Overskrift=}} with the subpage name after the "=". Someone will fix it if you post directly in the VP, but please don't repost just because your message has been moved... :-) --Palnatoke 23:52, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Russian Wikipedia

[edit]

Please note, that at Russian Wikipedia Village Pump new message must be on top of the page (new message shall be inserted before first "\n== " substring, or at the end, if such substring is not found). Vlsergey (talk) 06:39, 20 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Split by project?

[edit]

Hmmm, it'd be nice to be able to split this list by wiki family (all Wikipedias, all Wiktionaries, etc.), but using sub-subpages and transclusion will break the current global message delivery bot. Hmmm. Just make sub-subpages and not transclude them? --MZMcBride (talk) 22:31, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

This would indeed useful, in fact I did that temporarily recently, by hand (or regex) [1][2]. However, one should also be able to split it orthogonally into languages, to distribute translated messages. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 22:43, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps the "spam" page could offer two new parameters in addition to "# RECIPIENTS (PAGE LIST)", allowing to filter it by project and language? Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 15:41, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that would definitely make more sense. Otherwise, if transclusion worked, one could use some LabeledSectionTransclusion magic via row templates etc., but I hope not. --Nemo 13:44, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Separated target pages by message type

[edit]

In Hungarian Wikipedia we use many Village Pump pages, but actually message delivery bot can handle only one target page. It would be helpful if we can specify a target page for technical messages and other one for other messages (e.g. localization). It seems to me English Wikipedia has the same problem. --BáthoryPéter (talk) 21:59, 17 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is also true for Portuguese Wikipedia. Helder 18:21, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
I agree that this would be fantastic. I've started a list of tech targets, but it's not really usable yet, because technical messages still need to be posted on regular village pumps for projects without a tech page (I could try to maintain a complementary list, but it doesn't seem practical, as there would be a lot of duplication with the main list). guillom 13:05, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I'm having difficulty understanding this section. It seems like the most obvious solution is to use/implement better target lists. A tech list, a localisation list, a proposals list, etc. And then only use this massive distribution list for messages that don't fit within another category (site disruptions, e.g.). But perhaps I'm missing why this wouldn't work. --MZMcBride (talk) 07:02, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
It would work; I think the point here is that this solution requires to maintain separate lists (which is suboptimal, but not a big problem). guillom 17:31, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Allow addition of user talk pages?

[edit]

I just reverted this edit for various reasons, but I'm wondering if it would make sense, in general, to include a section for user talk pages, offering those Wikimedians who ar interested in getting personal notifications about global messages a chance to sign up for them. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 20:41, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Seems reasonable to me. You should be able to add == headers == for section editing without anything breaking. --MZMcBride (talk) 07:00, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Move to Distribution list/MediaWiki message delivery

[edit]

Why not? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 22:24, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Why? PiRSquared17 (talk) 01:19, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Insert as first section

[edit]

The target in German Wikibooks is b:de:Wikibooks:Schwarzes Brett (= bulletin board). We discuss whether new sections should be added at the top of the page via &action=edit&section=0 -- note the parameter '0'. If we decide to do so we want the global message delivery to follow this rule.

  • Is this possible? The question about Russian Wikipedia isn't answered.
  • Where should we announce such a request? Here or anywhere else?
  • Or have we to change the list itself? In which way?

Thanks in advance, Juetho (talk) 10:31, 14 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Is there anyone to answer? -- Juetho (talk) 10:06, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
No, this is currently not possible with MassMessage. You need to file a new request at Phabricator. Glaisher (talk) 12:53, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the answer, I created the task phab:T94009. -- Juetho (talk) 07:25, 26 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate delivery

Ukrainian

[edit]

Is this reaching the right Ukrainian Village Pump? /Johan (WMF) (talk) 21:23, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I see TN is on the tech VP there, which is Вікіпедія:Кнайпа (технічні питання), and you may want to ask there instead? --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 12:10, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Urdu

[edit]

I think the Urdu link isn't working, the message I sent there last week doesn't seem to be there at least. The link provided for Tech News seems to be working instead. Elitre (WMF) (talk) 14:53, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
