Current status
Dear all. Some months ago we discussed about the Wishlists process and how the projects were voted but never done. I made a list of all the projects from 2022 that were voted but not done (or in progress) but I made a mistake. One of the projects (Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Generate Audio for IPA) was marked as in development but that's not true. So I want to update the list so we can see how it is going:
Projects | Project status |
---|---|
2022 | |
Better diff handling of paragraph splits |
In development
|
Notifications for user page edits |
Done
|
Real Time Preview for Wikitext |
Done |
Tool that reviews new uploads for potential copyright violations | |
Improve SVG rendering | |
Allow filtering of WhatLinksHere to remove links from templates | |
Automatic duplicate citation finder | |

Generate Audio for IPA | |
Enhanced Move Logs |
I hope that six months before the next year Community Wishlist Survey starts we can discuss about the state of the wishes. Sincerely. Theklan (talk) 21:53, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
Revert edits and warn vandals from recent changes
@KSiebert (WMF): I see you've marked Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Admins and patrollers/Revert edits and warn vandals from recent changes as "Done on mobile apps", but the wish has no associated Phab tasks so it's not clear what this is in reference to. Are you saying the wish was fulfilled on apps recently, or was it possible on apps since before the survey? Are there not related tasks? Nardog (talk) 14:49, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hey yes, so the Android team has let me know that the implemented the wish on mobile while working on EditPatrol which got me quite excited. Really it's only release to to Indonesian Wikipedia users on the Beta app of Wikipedia, but it should only be a matter of time to move to bigger wikis. Does that help? - Thanks, but I'm having a hard time understanding how that relates to the wish in question. The wish was specifically about "being able to fight vandalism without leaving the page you are on". That is not something that would be particularly useful on mobile (as even tiny prompts should fill the screen), and screenshots on Phab do not show any feature focused on warning users without leaving RecentChanges. Not only does it not seem it's "done on mobile apps", it probably shouldn't be. Nardog (talk) 06:02, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Nardog:, my name is Haley, and I'm a product manager on the Mobile Apps Team, working on Edit Patrol in the Android App. Our motivation in building this feature was to increase moderator velocity across several language wikis, specifically when users are primarily using mobile devices. Here is a demo of the tool (on test.wiki). The tool is essentially a feed of recent changes, and from the "Talk" option in the toolbar, users can compose a talk page message. They can choose from a library of their Saved Messages, or search and add a user talk warning template. After previewing and posting, they are returned to the diff view of the edit in recent changes. The feature is now released to folks with rollback rights on Indonesian, Spanish, French, Igbo, and Chinese Wikipedias, and will be released to all wikis soon.
